Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 01 1.2 cutting out at junctions etc 18 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I got it today, and after some time spent on it, i am convinced its the throttle body. the fault is intermittant, can run perfect for a good while the suddenly at the next junction, stalls, light flashes on, revs up nad down. Scan test comes up with the dealer accessable code only. This guy has spent a lot of cash so far and i want to be 100 % before i buy a throttle body. -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W210 (1995 - 2002) - 1997 2.0 gearbox trouble 25 Aug 2008 (Forum)
They have checked the box, upgraded the software and 're-taught'the box. Now they say that the box is slipping and that is blowing the mass sensor! They seem to be running some trial and error method here! I have changed the oil and filters with original parts three times to no avail. Latest fault codes read as follows: EGS Fault Memory 030, Altitude factor from motor electronics implausible. -
Jaguar XJ8 and XJR8 (1997 - 2003) - 99 3.2 Odd emissions problem 7 Aug 2008 (Forum)
From the limited info I got over the phone they adjusted the C0 level to within limits but it caused the "other reading" (I'm assuming HC) to exceed spec. Bringing "the other" within spec caused CO to rise again. Car is running fine - no hesitation, missfire or loss of power etc. No DTCs logged. Upstream HO2Ss are working OK - output checked and then substituted with known good ones. MAF checked - not sure exactly how, but told it was OK. -
MG MG ZT (2001 - 2005) - 04 2.5 'chirping' sound 30 Jul 2008 (Forum)
It's also less noticeable when the weather's hot. Plus doesn't happen for the first mile of driving each day. I did run into a large pothole on the front left a few weeks ago and subsequently found my front left track rod end was leaking grease, so got this replaced. It does sound like something's still not properly lubricated, though. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 99 1.6 XS - 'Juddering' half cut outs 21 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Say i am driving along in a string of traffic in 3rd the car will hesitate and then pick up again with a bit of a judder. I have not had cutouts recently after changing the ECU but i have not given it a 'decent' run. At no point has any light come on the dash or any code been logged in the ECU. I wonder what sensors or other such could cause this judder/hesitation which almost feels like the ignition has been cut for a moment? -
SEAT Ibiza III (2002 - 2008) - What do people think? 20 Jun 2008 (Forum)
He also says it was fitted by a Seat registered engineer. He also said he thought the warranty was about 1 year and it's almost run out, I rang Seat and they said it should be 2 years. He says he doesn't need it now as he has a company car. He also sent some photos which had the VRM on, I did a basic text check and it came back with 3 previous owners; I have sent him an email to ask him how many owners there have been cos I didn't ask him when I spoke to him. -
Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 99 2.0 HDi clutch release bearing - book time for 11 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Anyone any idea? I suspect the car is still on its original clutch, would it be more economical in the long run to get the whole thing replaced? I hate the thought of taking it off the road for one costly fault when the rest of it still works relatively OK, but the silly thing cost me 220 quid for a new starter last week after a lengthy trouble-free period, and I'm fearful that I'm due another catalogue of costly failures - I'd rather just take my chances with a spell of bangernomics! -
Volvo S80 (1998 - 2006) - 2000 2.4 auto Has my head gasket gone??? 10 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I ask as i put some 'Stop leak' in the expantion tank a couple of months ago - could this be clogging the cooling system up?? The car is fine on a run, the temperature actually goes DOWN but i guess this is because the wind is cooling the engine. The fan also cuts in as normal. Any advice appreciated Many thanks all. -
You could've knocked me down with a Rover! 6 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Obviously her dash to the bank was of far more importance that him potentially mowing down a pedestrian or a small child running round the corner. I was so angry and I don't care how old or infirm someone is, no-one has the right to drive onto the pavement causing the mayhem he did. It must have contravened loads of highway code rules and a few road traffic acts but was there a copper or a warden around to see it? -
DVLA will not refund my money... 11 May 2008 (Forum)
When I bought my new car I passed my Escort on to my wife. We agreed she'd run it in and then we'd buy her a new one. Problem is, she forgot to keep the tax and MOT up to date and yesterday we were clamped for having an invalid tax disc. Which is fair enough. Today, having paid the £80 fine and the £120 surety (held until I present a valid tax disc) I am told the car will be declamped. -
FIAT - Fiat Dealers worst on 18 Apr 2008 (Forum)
how much can results from the general public be trusted. It seems, along with `normal` owners, there are a lot of young wallies for example, that run Gp`s, putting cooking oil in the JTD`s, chipping until the car vibrates and clutch slips and chipping Panda`s over the rated gearbox torque. The list of ineptness, failure to check oil, taking the car to the limiter all the time as though its a computer game goes on and on. -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2002, 2.0 HDI (FAP) Lights flicker, Relay clicks 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I'm kind of seeing a pattern when it happens, it seems to happen every 400 miles (90% motorways) or so, based on the last 3 occurances. And seems to last 12-13 miles or so before the clicking/flickering/very slightly rough running stops. It didn't happen when I took it to peugeot and there were no error codes ! Any idea's ? I thought it might in some way be related to the regen of the FAP but why this would effect lights and the BSI I would have no idea. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 96 1.9dt Strange starting problem 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
When you try to start the car you put the key in, enter code, wait for the glow and turn the key ~ she starts and you can turn her off and on as may times as you like. It will run like a dream, pull like a little train until..... the next time you start the car it wont for however long it decides! this problem can be when its hot, cold, been 1 day or 1 minute since it was last started, it simply doesnt matter, the engine just turns over and over and over, until the battery is flat, or it finally decides to start! -
Rover 45 (1999 - 2005) - 2003 1.8 IXS Auto - does anyone know this model? 3 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The engine seems to have a slightly 'throaty' sound to it after my previous car - especially when starting, but runs fairly quietly once warmed up. Is thi usual for a Rover as my friend's 75 seems quiter as does another's 25. Is it because of the 1.8 engine? 5 Finally, there does seem more road noise than previous car - however, it has had all new tyres fitted on picking it up earlier this week. -
Euro 4 & Diesel cars 3 Feb 2008 (Forum)
There's a lot of similar complaints on all late diesels; they're now only worth driving if you prefer the characteristics. They may now even cost more to run that equivalent petrols. " Personally I love diesel cars, but I can't believ what is happening, EU legislation is trying to cut emissions, but, reduced economy means we actual burn more fuel??? I just dont get it anymore. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 1.4S - intermittant ECU light 3 Feb 2008 (Forum)
If it could be the idle valve, could someone explain why because I don't understand why a problem with this should affect the running of the car at speed - Thanks for any help Tony {yet another subject header requiring attention because the sticky posts, etc were ignored!} -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2004 130 TDi - Petrol in Diesel Car HELP 20 Jan 2008 (Forum)
as the pipe comes out of the fuel tank I think, does this come apart? I could disconnect at the injector and run pump but think I will damage the pump. Or could there simply be a drain plug (i doubt it these days but have a little hope) Any thoughts, advice welcome about the car, the wife, well i have to use her car tomorrow! -
Mitsubishi Space Star II (2002 - 2006) - 2002 1.6 Petrol, engine management fault 18 Jan 2008 (Forum)
His local Mitsubishi main dealer told him that one of the two oxygen sensors had blown and that despite running the diagnostic checks, they didn't know which one it was. They replaced one of them a few weeks ago but the warning light came back on soon after. My dad then took the car back and they replaced the other sensor. -
Another accident outside the house 17 Nov 2007 (Forum)
He started the engine but the scooter was all twisted and shattered, unrideable. He ran it into the residents' slot behind my car, propped it up leaving the engine running and scarpered on the back of another similar scooter also driven by a rather forbidding youngish guy with rough noli me tangere body language. Plod, who later took down what I had actually seen and could remember, told me the scooter had been stolen yesterday just round the corner in the Moroccan quarter. -
Ford Galaxy (1995 - 2006) - '05 1.9TD. Tyre speed ratings - mix or not to mix? 2 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Two questions for the experts out there please: where are we best taking the car to for an inspection to ascertain whether or not there has been any hidden damage to the chassis, tow bar, running gear etc? Is our Ford dealer as good a place as any or do we need something more sophisticated than they can provide? Secondly, when we had the car checked initially by ATS Tyres they pointed out that whoeveer replaced our tyres last ( actually a combination of said Ford dealer - front axle - and another well known tyre centre - rear axle - had managed to leave us with a mish mash of different speed gradings on the four tyres which ATS maintain is potentially dangerous.
