  • Rover 75 air flow meter fitting 24 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Is it a serious job for mechanics only??? Does the ECU error message on next service make a difference to the running of the engine?? Sorry if that sounded ignorant, I'm in over my head methinks.
  • Using bio diesel in Honda civic 2.2 14 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I was running my 2002 passat tdi on 100% pure bio diesel without problem but have just changed it for the new Honda Civic 2.2 diesel. I can't find any information on the internet about using bio diesel in the new Honda engines.
  • Mondeo air con - cutting out 9 Jun 2006 (Forum)
The time between cutting in and out seems to vary, but I would say on average it's about 30 seconds to cut out and about 15 seconds to cut back in. The air con is running nice and cold (when it's working) and one of the rad fans cuts in (as I believe it should) whenever the air-con button is pressed. Any ideas? Cheers DP

  • 'Spare some change for petrol?' scam 25 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Whilst walking locally (Farnborough Hants) I have been accosted twice in the last 2 weeks by a guy carrying a green plastic petrol can in a plastic carrier bag, accompanied by a girl friend. The line was "My car's run out of petrol, can you spare some change so I can get some petrol at the garage?" In retrospect I'm sure it was the same couple/same words and I should have responded more robustly, but being taken by surprise I didn't.
  • Audi A6 2.5 TDi - blue smoke 24 Feb 2006 (Forum)
When I open the oil filler cap it releases lots of pressure. I have taken out the dip stick (whilst the car is running) but there is no back pressure from the dip stick hole. Does anyone have any ideas - or a decent Audi specialist within he Nort West ?
  • Cavalier SRI 16V engine mgmt warning 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
The engine management warning light comes on when I start the car from cold (and stays on), but if I flick the ignition off/on whilst the engine is running it goes away. This doesn't seem to indicate any of the knock/cam/crank sensors as it always goes away when the ignition is switched off/on, regardless of whether engine is hot or cold! I have had previous Cavaliers that have had problems with this warning, but it has always been down to a particular sensor, and had not gone away until rectified.
  • Ford KA - engine odd judder/ miss? 9 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I have had the throttle assembly cleaned and a few other bits of the EMS but to no avail. The car has run like this for 10K with no noticeable problems however it does seem prone to develop very noisy tappets. Please help!
  • Astra Estate Auto 1.6 4 Jan 2006 (Forum)
We have an Astra Estate Auto 1.6 that belonged to my late father on Motability and is just coming up to its 4th annual service having run 19000 miles only. I was surprised to be told by the dealer that on this service it is their practice to replace the cam belt (4 years or 40000 mile whichever is the sooner) of course it will cost £220 plus vat on top of the £220 plus vat for the service.
  • Car for winter 26 Nov 2005 (Forum)
If it was down to comfy seats the Saab would win hands down, but its not. What are the Scorpio & Omega like to own & run? looks don't bother me hence the Scorpio in my choice. As I will be spending less than a grand FSH, showroom condition & suchlike I'm not to fussed over, so any advice will be most helpful. Will let you know what I bought in due course.
  • It's all gone a bit saggy 6 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Add clearing your sun-roof drain holes to that list of little jobs you should do from time to time 2. Does anyone know how to get rooflining material to tighten back up again? Running the aircon at nuclear setting today has made some difference, I haven't tried a hairdryer yet, but any sane suggestions would be most welcome.
  • Ford Focus TDCi 1.8 - mpg and smokey 26 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, I recently purchased a 53 plate one focus tdci (115ps) and Ive notcied that on long runs I'm getting around 40-45 mpg driving at around 65-70 (I'm no boy racer by any means). I've notcied that also should I need to put my foot to the floor when the turbo kicks in I can see lots of emissions from the back of the car.
  • Ford Focus Instrument Panel 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Yesterday before starting the car, I noticed that the Fuel Guage & Temperature Guage read approximately 1/3 before turning on the ignition!. The car started first runs OK, the guages then read as expected, but on turning off the ignition and parking the car the guages not zero. I believe that any repair will be covered by Fords 3Year Warranty however I would be interested if anyone has any ideas as to what has caused the problem?
  • 850Tdi estate - capable high miler? 9 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I've done my time in small economical hatchbacks (205, Uno, Punto etc) and it's time to get a barge that can cope with a combination of the short kiddy-taxi runs, daily business mileage around M25/M1 etc. plus the long M-way trips to the aged parent. 850Tdi stands out as being well-built, decent image and potentially capable of another 60,000 miles on top of say 120,000 already on.
  • Catalytic converter problem? 1.6 Focus 9 Sep 2005 (Forum)

  • Ford Mondeo warning lights 15 Aug 2005 (Forum)
However it has a few faults and I wanted to know if anybody has any experience of them. 1) The airbag light flashes when the car is running. Most of the stuff on the net seems to point to a loose connection between the light and the sensor? Anybody have any experience of this? 2) The fan only seems to work in position 4. Is this just a resistor failure?

  • escort 98 2 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Hi, just wondered if any of you could give any advice/ideas on a problem i've got with my 1998 escort, noticed this morning the heater would not blow hot air, cold works fine and the engine is running hotter than usual (always stays on the middle of the gauge normally). I opened the bonnet to do a visual inspection and noticed the water level was way down(was fine a week ago),topped the water up and switched the engine on,water level dropped within a few mins and the engine temp got above three quarters on the guage before the fan kicked in???
