  It’s dominated by French brands with Renault the worst performer – a pass rate of just 50 per cent is poor whichever way you look at it. Peugeot and Citroen fare little better and other usual suspects include Fiat and Vauxhall. The performance of Swedish brand Volvo raised a few eyebrows though with a pass rate of only 57.4 per cent, less than the likes of Ford and Volkswagen.

Nissan LEAF’s rivals included vehicles from brands such as Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Dacia, Ford, Opel/Vauxhall and Volvo.  “The jury acknowledged today that the Nissan LEAF is a breakthrough for electric cars.   A new Glass’s league table (see below), which ranks vehicle segments according to the strength of their residual values, highlights the impact of changing patterns of used-car demand as consumers seek to reduce their motoring costs. Vehicles in the city car segment, including the Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo, are now the slowest depreciating in the UK, retaining an average 49.5 per cent of their purchase price after three years and 36,000 miles. This represents a remarkable turnaround – as recently as 2006, vehicles in this segment languished in ninth place in the Glass’s depreciation table.

  The incident happened at 2pm on 28 August 2017 (Bank Holiday Monday) when Hastings Direct claimed its telematics system caught James Bralant travelling at 164mph in his 2011 Citroen DS3 on the M1. His variant of the DS3 has a top speed of just 112mph. Despite appealing the claim, he was told that there is no dispute process.  Hastings Direct notified him that his policy would be cancelled after seven days  and would only allow him to submit a formal complaint - a process that takes four to eight weeks.
