  Our problem though, is that a problem developed with the power steering too. Steering was fine until car stopped when the belt went, but it couldn't be steered during tow home and fluid leaked from car thereafter. Garage says two hoses have gone and it's going to cost £400 for repair bill, as this problem has nothing to do with belt failure.

  Hi all!  We're in the process of buying our first second-hand car and could really use some advice. We've put down a refundable deposit on a 2017 Toyota RAV4 2.5 VVT-i Excel AWD with 48,000 miles on the clock (in grey). The car is priced at £17,500. We visited the dealer to inspect the car and found a few issues: - There are some chips and paintwork problems, plus a bit of rust on the metal step to get into the car.

  About eight years ago, I  bought an aftermarket  mechanical  breakdown warranty  to cover our car and have had it ever since. Over that time it's probably cost me 2 grand in premiums, and I’ve claimed on two occasions, for different cars,  a total of about 100 quid after deduction of the excess of £75.

  I have comprehensive converage on another vehicle, and certificate stated I will be covered as third party when driving another car, with condition that the car should insured without my name on the policy. I had borrowed a car from friend to tie me over a couple of weeks while searching for a car for myself.

• Peugeot 207 SW - Smell from ventilation system 22 Feb 2015 (Forum)
  Noticed a stagnent water smell when first using the car in the morning mostly. A/C was due for recharge so had this done and deodoriser put through system which appeared to sort the problem as the deoderiser covered the odour. Now had the cabin filters changed as the smell is evident even when the A/C is not switched on.

  I was abroad for 3 months and left my car covered up. It started first time, the only problem I noticed was the hatchback will not stay open. I assume it is meant to be held open by the 2 pistons attached to the hatchback. It seems strange that both would malfunction at the same time.

  Hi can some kindly give me some information i noticed that my car wasnt running rite so thought it would need a service so i got the bitz and a mobile mechanic came to do it and he noticed the airfilter was cover with oil . He had checked it out but doesnt know what it would be.

  The rear floor of my Nissan Note occasionally gets covered in water - particularly the rear passenger side. It has happened a couple of times after heavy rain. Inside door panels & roof are dry so it appears that the leaks are actually coming from the floor of the car.

  Car is a 93 1.9TiD 150 (same as Vauxhall 1.9CDTi). The cambelt is due and have a couple of questions... 1. Is it possible to easily view the cambelt (ie take a cover off) to see if it has been changed?

  Hi, am just getting car back on road, have no manual with it, and have checked the fuses for front wipers, not sure what to check next. Can't think where relay is located or wiper motor housing, can anyone help as I didn't cover much electrical work on college course.

  Now that has got your attention it is not about car insurance but health insurance for the driver and passengers. From 01 April 2009 - ( Not a joke) "Britons travelling to the Channel Islands will no longer be covered for medical treatment should they become ill or injured, after a decision by the Government to end the reciprocal health agreement between the UK and the islands."

  About to start looking into extending my Mazda's warranty. I've had good experiance with Genesis but since I got the car new I'm interested in keeping the Mazda warranty going. Before I speak to the dealer, anyone got an idea of price, does it cover the same as the factory warranty? Any sort of feedback? Thanks. James
• Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - TDDI or TDCI 2002 52 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)
  Hi I am looking to purchase a 2002 52 Mondeo diesel There is a TDCI badge on the boot and the engine cover has durotorq TDCI written on it. But when i entered the reg no on the autotrader web site the car came back as being a TDDI. Can anybody clarify what model it is Thanks in advance Tony

  Hi, I have just been given a Peugeot 307SW 1.6HDi SE as a hire car for 4 days. The thing is, I don't know if it is a 90 or 110 and I'd like to know which one it is. Is there any easy ways to tell? PS I haven't lifeted the bonnet yet so if there is a great big sticker saying 90 or 110 on the rocker cover, I apologise!!!!!

  We are to buy a new car for round about 10K to cover between 6,000 and 10,000 miles/year. First and foremost, we want reliability. I have looked at one or 2 Reliability Index studies but I have no idea how these are worked out, etc.

  I've bought a '94 1.6 Cavalier as a first car for my son. Whilst it's generally in excellent order the cam cover gasket has been leaking. Although the history shows it was recently replaced, the mess hasn't been cleaned up. The lower half of the engine is filthy.

  Golf GTI Mk2 8 valve(EV engine)1984.Problem with scorching on rev limiter rotor arm. having to replace or clean off scorching about every 500 miles. Car has covered 150,000 miles but runs well. prone to overheating in traffic, dispite using over-ride on electric fan.Wondered if this is related to faulty ignition module.Has anybody had similar experience?

  I thought it was time that I change the pollen filter in my car. Local parts shop have listing for 1.9 Dturbo but not for 2.0 HDI Dturbo and asked me to get a number from mine. Please where is it? I tried to seperate the intake box below the windscreen on the passenger side but the foam cover started to tear.

  Now that it's very easy to buy a warranty form various companies, i was thinking that surely that takes the risk out of buying a second hand motor from the classifieds. As long as the warranty is comprehensive, you're covered? As i'm in the market to buy a new used car i thought i'd see if anyone has any views on the matter in case i lose my hard earned cash. (Budget up to £9k)
