Diesel fuel water treatment? 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I drive 2 common rail diesels and wonder if I should keep up the practice of adding a "water treatment" at the end of each winter. I have noticed that the same company makes a dry fuel additive and a cleaner which claims to "demulsify" the fuel to allow the separator to work better. -
Peugeot partner escapade wiper fault 28 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I then have to operate them a few times until they "park" in the correct position. They also sweep about 5 times when I press the "sweep once" lever. It's driving me nuts! Any help appreciated. -

Self-bonding (?) sand at edge of road 8 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I've recently seen what appears to be self-bonding sand used at the edge of a road to fill in the waterlogged ruts on the grass verge caused by people driving off the carriageway. When it's compacted it bonds itself together. I'd like to get some to fill in the sludgy ruts at the edge of the grass verge outside our house. Does anybody know what it's called? -

LeMans - invalid parking 18 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I've mailed the ACO, but no reply so far and I see the official car parks are filling up fast. Be grateful for any advice on the best direction to drive in from on race day too, there were a lot of new roads being built last time I was there in 2000. Many thanks for all replies to my previous postings too. Cheers, Bill -
VW Passat wheel rattle 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Turning steering wheel doesn't make it better or worse. Sounds like a loose wheel but isn't. Is it the drive-shaft? Has been going on for couple of months, doesn't seem to get worse. Help! -
Ford Mondeo 1.8 31 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Currently drive a 2001 Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec and am very happy with the car (apart from mpg) however as it now has 90 000 miles on the clock I think the time has come to look for a replacement. Quite a few Mondeo 1.8 Zetecs on the go for reasonable money but just wondered if engine was big enough for the size of the car and if so does mpg suffer. -
Diesel or Petrol???? 21 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have a diesel 2.2 hdi Citroen C5 at the moment, and also have a caravan that I use in total 4 weeks a year (travel to europe for summer holiday) the C5 pulls it lovely but do I need a Diesel? only drive about 8000 miles a year. If I don't need a Diesel what car and engine do you recommend ( I have around 9k to spend ). P.S Caravan = 1300kg gross Thanks Mark -
Mileometer an MOT requirement? 21 Jan 2007 (Forum)
It doesn't bother me much but obviously Mr. MOT man is going to notice I have done zero miles in a year including driving to and from the MOT station. Is it legal requirement to have a working mileometer? Also, does anyone have any experience of fixing old speedos or know of any companies that can do it? I could always swap it for a secondhand one I suppose if it was too expensive. -

Do Immobilisers deter? 9 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Has any backroomer personal experience of having a car fitted with an imobiliser being stolen by the thief driving it away? I know of no one who has had a car stolen without the keys and / or the car loaded onto a transporter. What I am really asking is, can the average (or not so average) thief overcome a modern imobiliser? -
What are the police for? 1 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Driving through a small town in N Yorkshire this morning. Road reduced to one lane for maybe 200 metres, but with a curve so you couldn't see the other end of the restriction. Traffic lights there but not working. -
Sat Nav - any recommendations 29 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I appreciate that the prices range from below £100 to nearly £1000 and I wonder what you get for your money and do they do what is says on the tin? Many thanks Icefox. Ps. I don't want to drive around Europe, just the congested roads of Britian. -
problems with k reg mondeo SI 11 Dec 2006 (Forum)
i think i have more than 1 problem with the car and they hav all come at once. the car is overheating after only a few miles of driving and the revs drop to below 500, the heater sometimes blows cold air, and there is sometimes a knocking sound from the engine when the revs drop. the was also a lot of smoke/steam coming out of the back. the oil levil is fine and its not leaking water, the only water loss is in the form of steam from the bottle. -
R reg Renault Megane brake failure 7 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I was driving on the motorway at about 60mph in heavy rain when I had to brake hard to avoid a car wheel which rolled in front of my car . The brakes worked well but I felt a 'clunk' in the brake pedal and when I tried to brake afterwards the pedal was really loose and went to the floor with very little braking. -
Ruptured Achilles tendon 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I am considering changing my Nissan X-Trail for an automatic vehicle to carry my wife and two small dogs. Would I still be allowed to drive such a vehicle with a plaster cast on my left leg, if so any recommendations as to what car would be suitable with a price of approx £13 K Looking forward to your advice. Renault Scenic or VW Touran 16 Nov 2006 (Forum)
We really wanted a diesel auto, but can't find one for the money we've got (about 10k) Has anybody experience of owning and driving either or both of these two cars? I found the Scenic lively and spacious and the Touran a bit austere but very smooth. I'm going to have to pay a grand or two more for the Touran so I want it to be worth it. -
Sorn etc 13 Nov 2006 (Forum)
My brother in law has had stroke and will not be leaving hospital for at least 3 months. Will almost certainly not be driving again. Car is due for MOT and service by end of month. Questions. 1: Am i covered by my insurance to take car for service and MOT. 2: Presumably it is worth getting service and MOT before selling car as car could not be driven on road by buyer 3: How do i SORN car. 4: What about car insurance.
