Looking at it this way, the argument for keeping the test on pre-1960 cars seems about as strong as that for introducing the test on two year old cars. But - and this is a big one - is that you could argue that without the MoT test there could be almost 10,000 unroadworthy cars on the road. -

Hardly the way to merchandise a Bentley, old chap. The Navigator and the Bentley were trader’s cars, looking for an opportunity. The Black Horse cars were entered by a finance house looking to get its money back. The two Aston Martin Vanquishes in this part of the sale were both sold, so you can take it as read that the prices they fetched were what the trade was prepared to pay. -

Notably, some 17 E-type Jaguars alone will be present – the E-type is arguably the most iconic car ever produced by the British automotive industry and this year is celebrating its landmark 50th anniversary. Some are capable of fetching up to several hundred thousands of pounds at auction. Alongside the cars will be a number of rare motorcycles from the same era, plus a vast line-up of WWII machinery including cars, bikes, weapons carriers, tanks and even aircraft to add to the wow factor for visiting public – it is estimated the number of wartime vehicles, organised by the Military Vehicle Trust, will total 100 with many being positioned within ‘living history’ displays. -
500 Buyers at 'Classics From BCA' Auction 6 Mar 2008 (News)
The 1965 Corvair coupé was finished in white with matching leather trim and was in largely original condition throughout. Acquired from a museum in Kansas and imported into the UK a number of years ago, the car’s recorded mileage of 40,250 was believed correct. It seemed exceptionally good value for its new owner at £3,900. The Bentley R-Type 4-door saloon featured elegant coachwork by James Young, finished in dark blue over Old English White and with its original grey hide upholstery. -

When Ford launched the 105E the old Anglia 100E was stripped of its luxuries and rebadged as the Popular. It’s lines were pure 1953, its side valve engine was best described as ‘venerable’ and the level of trim was miserable even by 1959 economy car standards (the base model had an interior light on the optional extras list) but it was ‘a real car’. -
