Ford Focus 2007 Zetec 1.6 Climate - noisy fuel pump 5 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I had a Meriva with a fuel pump that buzzed on start up , but this sounds different. Car still starts fine--should I be concerned at this new sound? Cheers. -
I keep eyeing up mid-90's 4.2TD Landcruisers 20 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I'm in favour of spending sensible amounts of money at the upkeep of a solid vehicle, so an 'enhanced' maintenance programme would be fine with me. Thoughts, experiences, etc. welcomed! -
EU directive Black boxes SOS from april 2018 1 May 2015 (Forum)
Intended consequences? With gps and mobile comms, tracking of all vehicles is now a piece of cake, allowing automatic fine/penalty point issuance for minor speeding, parking offences etc. Selling of data to insurance companies with all that may bring. A fantastic money earner for mobile phone companies, no doubt we have to pay for the systems operational costs somehow. -
Unknown car registered for our address 19 Dec 2014 (Forum)
I guess the next step is to contact DVLC and try to get it sorted. What a pain! I am worried that speeding tickets, parking fines and other official documents will start coming our way. -
Land Rover Discovery 1; 3.5; V8 Auto 1992 K Reg - Starting Problem 1 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi - looking for and tips as to what may have prevented starting. Car working fine, battery charged and cables tight. Parked up but on return a few minutes later failed to start when key turned - no sign of starter motor engaging at all - lights and all other electrics working ok. -
BMW Z3 - EML & Traction Control warning lights 19 Feb 2012 (Forum)
My 2000 2.0l BMW Z3 has been running perfectly since I bought it. The other day I drove it for half an hour and parked up for 2 hours. Everything was fine until I started the car and the EML and traction control lights came on (yellow) simultaneously. The car also had a noticeable lack of performance and the rpm did not increase immediately when i put my foot down. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.8 Zetec TDCi - Oil Light 6 Apr 2009 (Forum)
My focus has started flashing the oil warning light. No problem i thought, oil level must be low. Checked the oil level and its fine, but added in a drop more anyway. Its still continuing to flash the oil light - its more of a flicker, flickering on and off. Now it's not leaking oil, as I have checked the road where its parked and I cant see anything. -
Washing your own car.......? 17 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Now being a typical bloke I must admit to being a bit cynical, but lo and behold, within an hour, it shone like new, hoovered, waxed and given the Wonder Wheels treatment. This was compounded further in the office car park the following day when I was complimented on the appearance and had to admit it wasn't my doing for once. Given the abundance of Eastern European car valeters doing such a fine job for so little money (SWMBO didn't get a penny by the way), does anyone absolutely insist on always doing it themselves still? -
Peugeot 207 (2006 - ) - 2006 1.4 16v S90 - Best way of selling? 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Since buying it I had to replace the side panel (someone drove into me) and am now having to deal with further repairs due to a 4 wheel drive vehicle driving into the 207 whilst parked. I imagine the car will look absolutely fine after a trip to a body shop. Anyway, I've since decided that I want rid of the vehicle.....Do you think I'll have trouble selling it? I want to exchange it for a Suzuki Swift. -
Possible write off - where do we stand? 4 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Hi guys - The wife's 10 year old Skoda was damaged some weeks ago when parked outside our house. We reported the incident to our insurers who arranged a nearby repair centre to assess the damage but we decided not to get any repair done until the other party's insurers admitted liability and we were sure she wouldn't lose her excess or NCD. -
Handbrake? What handbrake? Ford Focus 25 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Morning all, The car is running fine except for a slight handbrake problem. The handbrake won't hold the car on anything but the gentlest gradient and even then I don't trust it. It's not as bad when parked as I always have and always will leave it in gear but I negotiate a lot of traffic lights on hills and I hate leaving the brakes on. -
Peugeot 504 22 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Anyone remember these fine old workhorses? Saw one on the way to work, a K reg which must make it about 1972 and one of the first registered in the UK I should think. It was parked in a layby and the driver changing one of the front tyres. -
My Budget announcement 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Scrapping of taxation of benefit in kind relating to company cars. A 50% increase in Road Tax for long bendy buses as they are too long. All fines relating to vehicle offences to be added to the transport Budget to benefit law abiding transport users. The surplus of Congestion Charge fees should be spent on improved roads and car parks not subsidies to public transport. -
Free 1965 Rover 3 litre 1 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Carpets are rotten. The rear brakes are locked on. It's parked on grass/earth about 10 metres from the nearest tarmac. A land Rover and 10 metres of chain/steel wire should get it out. From then it needs a trailer. A friend owns it and has to get rid of it because the land owner wants the land back. -
Ford Focus Estate 2007 TDI 1.8L - How do I keep rodents out of engine compartment 12 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Luckily it was repairable and did NOT require a new loom (otherwise bye-bye a really great car). How do I now ensure that this doesn't happen again ? The car is parked outside in the drive and fairly close to a hedge beyond which is a field. I now park it a good 5 feet or so from the hedge and have put rat poison under the car. Various online remedies suggest putting all sorts of stuff in the engine compartment but the car is used every day. -
Renault Megane II (2002 - 2008) - 05 1.9 Intermittent Electrical Fault 3 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Wife's car has started to have the above. On Tuesday, car was fine until having parked. Then a 1/2 hour later, tried to start car then but after pushing button, would not tick over or fire up at all, stop would come on with electrical fault message. Further attemtps to start car were fruitless. -
306 TD problems 8 Oct 2003 (Forum)
The front windscreen wipers don't work properly, the single wipe when you push the stalk down won't do one sweep it only operates while you hold the stalk down, and it wont repark itself, also when you operate the squirters it does three swipes and then stops at various positions, again no auto parking, I presume these faults are caused by the same thing. I have to select intermittant wipe to park the blades correctly. Any suggestions would be great as I might be able to fix it and stop my Girlfriend wanting to get rid of it!!!!! -
Xantia Estate 22 Jan 2002 (Forum)
The temperature of the aircon seems sensitive to the engine revs - i.e. at tick-over in traffic its not very cold, but driving along its fine. Should I worry ? I'm likely to have the car for about 4 weeks, so if it won't break in that time, I don't care. Since I drove it, and parked it, for the first time last night, why don't they tell you not to park it with the front too close to the kerb since when the suspension settles it gets marooned. -
Can I use my Category N write off on the road again? 17 Apr 2024 (Ask HJ)
Can I still drive my Cat N car? My car was hit by a police car while it was parked and after 4 months of trying to get them to repair it their insurance... -
Renault Megane 99/T - Central locking not listening..? 25 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Apologies for the long story for context. Pierre needed to be parked up after a water leak (sunroof drains blocked). Everything was fine apart from the small lake in the rear footwell... so we had the carpet out, left it to dry out with the rice and newspaper etc.
