  Visions of the future from times past include the 1970 Crompton Leyland Electricar. Styled by Michelottis and based on standard Mini parts it was powered by 24 lead-acid batteries driving two 3.9hp (2.9kW) motors. It had a stop speed of 33mph and a battery life of 40 minutes.   Sure, the more prestigious the car is the more it will be worth when sale time comes. But the parts will also be expensive. A front wing for a Mk1 Mini might be £105, but a front wing for a Mk2 Jaguar is £2390. You get the point. But if you’ve got 1990s modern classic like a Mercedes-Benz 190, taking the car off the road and having it restored will cost you significantly more money than the car will ever be worth.

  BMW cuts model range as new WLTP test looms 20 Mar 2018 (News)
  The WLTP test will become mandatory for all new cars from September 2018 and is said to produce fuel economy and emissions figures more reflective of real world driving than those of the current New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) system.     “We can’t order a 3 Series or MINI plug-in. Everything’s been suspended,” said our source, “we knew there was a problem, because all our plug-in hybrids are delayed. They say they will deliver the ones that we have on order, but they won’t take any orders for new ones.” Production of the models in question is expected to continue until between May and July 2018.

  Nine decades of motorsport to be celebrated at Donington 6 Feb 2018 (News)
  There are two FJHRA/HSCC ‘Silverline’ Championship grids - one for front-engined and one for rear-engined Formula Juniors, each showcasing the lovely little machines that were developed for a racing formula that was introduced 60 years ago to train future Grand Prix drivers. The Festival features Touring Cars galore. Mini Coopers line-up against V8-engined Ford Falcons in the HRDC ‘Coys Trophy’ celebrating the BTCC 1958-1966, and Hillman Imps and Morris Minors take on Mk1 Jaguars and Alfa Romeo Giulietta Ti Berlinas in the HRDC ‘Touring Greats’ for pre-’60 Touring Cars with invited ‘TC63’.

In the now-familiar W&P tradition, customers would start by choosing their base model (usually a Rover 2600 or 3500), and then select from a long list of options to produce the final specification.

  The new Agilis+ tyres also offer improved kerbing protection in the sidewalls.   Wet weather tests A pair of MINI Cooper S models were fitted with Michelin Energy Saver + and competitor tyres and the idea was to find the point of break away on a wet steering pad. The competitor tyres were more fun because breakaway happened about 5mph earlier, but having fun was not the object of the exercise.

  Barons Jaguar Auction Set for 29th May 3 May 2012 (News)
  Estimate:  £38,000-£48,000. There’s also a ‘better than new’ 1969 Mini Cooper. This fabulous little car was the subject of a nut and bolt rebuild into a new, 1980's, BMC shell in 2004/2005. Since the rebuild it has been dry-stored and has never been exposed to rain or bright sunlight, not used as a means of transport but only as a show car.
