  • My Toyota Prius Review 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
And verified by re-filling when i got back i can confirm i did 52 to the gallon. Quite impressive for a big five door automatic driven by someone who's a stranger to the eco hybrid world. Liked Good comfortable seats, fantastic EV mode, good economy, good size and well laid out. And at 6ft i was perfectly fine in the back also.

  • 2024 Toyota Yaris or 2025 Suzuki Swift CVT - 2024 Toyota Yaris or 2025 Suzuki Swift CVT 8 Sep 2025 (Forum)
I live on a small private close and evenings are generally the only time I have a chance to sit in the car in ready mode for half an hour or so. The problem is that the headlights are automatic and there is no off switch, so they come on at night. Two neighbours have complained about the harsh lights, which has meant I either have to drive for half an hour or park the car further down the close in order to avoid upsetting people.
  • Why can't I renew my over-70s driving licence online? 16 Apr 2021 (Ask HJ)

  • Any From The Guardian - Electric car short term lease 16 Mar 2021 (Forum)
For £389 a month – with no up front deposit – Onto will provide a Renault Zoe 135 capable of about 190 miles on a full charge. As with Netflix, the contract automatically renews each month unless you cancel, meaning that as long as you keep paying, the car stays outside your house. Included in the monthly fee is the insurance, maintenance and servicing, tyres, breakdown cover, the London congestion charge registration – and charging at 11,000 public chargers.
  • Why does charging an EV have to be such a complicated process? 1 Nov 2018 (Ask HJ)

  • Is my rusty 1977 Daimler Double Six Coupe worth restoring? 18 Jul 2018 (Ask HJ)

  • Citroen DS5 - My Road Test Report 13 Mar 2015 (Forum)
On the headlining, the space between the two glass roofs is separated by an overhead console which houses the controls for the sunblinds, interior lights and two “call” buttons, one for SOS emergencies and one for breakdown assistance. The former automatically alerts a call centre in Luxemburg with the exact location of the car using GPS, who then contact the emergency services. The SatNav was one of the worst I have come across for ease of use.
  • BMW 5-Series E61 Touring (2004 - ) - 520d SE - 12,000m report 12 Jun 2009 (Forum)
It replaced both a E270CDi Elegance auto saloon and V70 2.4 SE petrol auto. Options specified were: * silver metallic paint and upgraded but standard size wheel (17") * automatic gear box: which hesitates less from a standing start compared to the Mercedes and I don't bother to use the tiptronic * Xenon/ adaptive lights: superb on unlit country roads * memory seats: useful and quick for regular drivers changes but seats are inifinitely adjustable and makes it much easier to maintain the right driving position, which took a while to find.
  • new driving article? 24 Mar 2003 (Forum)
BUT - the little fixes that the X-type needs (the pop-up vents - the drive shaft - the gauges that work some of the time - the trunk latch - the clicking transmission on the automatic models - the gas cap latch - the weeping washers - the "thunk-ing" suspension - and so on) are costing you terribly - both in reputation and financially. It's not good to spend $40,000 on a car and then not trust that it will take you safely where you need to go.
  • [C]5 go on a trip........ 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
All that metal around the gear lever is annoying, likely to become old-fashioned, and also the reason why the automatic gearbox is not illuminated at all, ensuring that you have to look in the middle of the dash to see what gear you are in at night. And on the subject of the dash ? yuk ! It?s messy, untidy and confusing.
  • Should the UK introduce 25mph limits? 14 Feb 2025 (Ask HJ)

  • New (Motability) car 15 May 2023 (Forum)
With my wife having got the forms from Motability through the post today letting her know she can place an order, I've been sifting through what is on offer on the Motability website. Narrowed down to automatic, 5 doors, and a maximum of £500 advance payment. With the continued absence of the current Suzuki Ignis (and Swift) from the list I've resigned myself to getting something wider than I'd like and just mount the kerb (as per tyre vs kerb thread) to allow more room on our narrow street.

  • Mercedes-Benz B-Class - B class review 6 Aug 2011 (Forum)
The car has stop start technology which automatically turns the engine off once you stop, select neutral and take your foot off the clutch.   None of the electrical items or braking assist are taken out so it is possible to roll down hill slowly without any power – once you get to 10mph the car bursts into life again.
