  • Toyota Yaris [new model] - heavy throttle pedal 12 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I am finding the throttle pedal very heavy to use, to the point it is causing me foot pain. I am disabled so this may have something to do with it, but I never had trouble with my previous car which was an old model Jazz. I have only driven 700 miles so far. Many thanks charon
  • Volkswagen Touran - Service History on VW Touran 7 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have looked at a couple of 3 year old Tourans, 1.9TDI. One has 25k miles or so and has been serviced once at about 16k, the other has 34 and has been serviced twice, 16k and 30k. Am I mistaken or does this seem like a poor service record on both cars?

  • MOT certificate wrong 3 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Had my car serviced and MOT'd yesterday-good news it passed. However, when I got home I noticed the reg number on the MOT cerificate was incorrect-they had put its old reg number on(last year I put a cherished number plate on it).
  • Galaxy - Repair or replace-my rights. 24 Jun 2010 (Forum)
My parked car was reversed into causing damage to the ,bumper, hatch and tow bar-I have 5 years old Galaxy. The driver's insurance assessor has inspected my vehicle and is insisting the hatch is reiared. I don't think this is fair as I feel it will depreciate the value of my vehicle.
  • Mazda Premacy (2000 - 2004) - Mazda Premacy 9 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi, Still looking for a cheap/reliable family car. Have seen a Mazda Premacy (Atlantis) that's 10 years old with FSH for £1000....but it has 112k miles on the clock. Should I be concerned about such a high mileage (I'll obviously have a good look at the history if I go for a drive)...or just cautious about it?
  • Rear Demisters Niggle 13 Dec 2009 (Forum)
How does the element deteriorate? Does it change its composition over time carbon build up or something? I've never had a car over ten years old where the demister worked properly, which is irritating as rear windows with demisters are expensive to replace, something I wouldn't do anyway. But it is such an inconvenience, even if you stop to wipe they can mist up again before it has warmed up the windscreen enough.
  • Chrysler Voyager (2004 - 2008) - 04 2.8 Cambelt change on 2.8CRD 1 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Hi, My voyager is approaching 60k miles and is due a cam belt change. I have done this on various old and cheap cars but I am a little nervous about doing the job on my newish expensive daily driver. My main questions are: Are there any particularly tricky bits to this job on this engine? How do I lock the engine in order to get the crankshaft pully off when it has an auto transmission?
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 06 2.00 Seat belts 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
My 3 year old Mazda 6 has now gone back into the garage to have the rear seat belt stalks changed again for the 5th time under warranty.I have 3 kids who use the back of the car all of the time and the lights to state if the seats have been fastened keep showing green when they are not.
  • Volkswagen Golf VI (2009 - ) - Daytime Running Lights 30 Jul 2009 (Forum)
As drivers we take in a massive amount of information on each and every journey. Most of it is in the subconcious, checking road conditions, other cars and the driving habits of other drivers. We are able to reach conclusions about the likely actions of other road users simply from watching their use of the road and traffic. By acceptig the DRLs which are mandatory on the Mk 6 Golf does this mean that in future I will be grouped with the dithery old git meandering along the middle lane of the motorway in his Volvo?
  • Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 2001 - cambelt change 9 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Do I really need to change the cambelt now given the car's very low mileage, or when should I be looking to do it?

  • Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 00 2.0 Front subframe bushes 3 Feb 2009 (Forum)
My lower arms were replaced around 3 years ago but I have a small kick through the steering when pulling away rapidly. Car is 8 years old with 80,000 recorded miles I cannot find play with a large screwdriver but this seems to me to be the only place where movement could occur. Does anyone have experience of these bushes wearing in this way.
  • Supermarket now policing disabled spaces 17 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Since a revsion of their carpark layout, they now have wardens who patrol the disabled spaces relentlessly - even before you get out of the car they are on you, checking your badge. Its proactive and all I can say is well done to them, I checked and unlike days of old where only half or so of the approx 15 spaces had badges, now all do - those who pull in without one are moved on quickly.
  • Ford Mondeo 1 (1993 - 1996) - 95 2.0 petrol - thirsty automatic 7 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, my thirsty old car is costing me a fortune. I have recently bought it, with 90k on the clock and it drinks petrol like I do beer. It is currently doing 260 miles on a full tank of fuel. Now I know autos use a lot of fuel but this seems ott.
  • Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 1996 1.8 Rotor Arm replacement 5 Oct 2008 (Forum)
    I need to replace a rotor arm (it is a 'bonded' type) i.e not a push on fit (these were easy) Is it an easy DIY fix or does it need a more specialist garage. How do you remove the old rotor arm. Any Ideas or experience welcome. Thanks. {no need to mention car make/model in subject header - your selection from the drop down menus takes care of that, edited properly this time!}
  • Have people?s opinions on ex-rentals changed? 29 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Hi there, I had a quick search on this board and saw the last post on this topic was in 2001 so I thought I?d ask if anything has changed since then; what are people?s opinions on buying 6 month to year old ex-rental cars? The only reason I ask is because a friend and I are looking into trading in these vehicles and would like to know if there is still a strong stigma attached. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Preferably she would like something with a little more 'prestige'! An old A6 might fit the bill, but the cost of parts and reliability could be an issue. Any suggestions please.
  • Ford Fiesta (1989 - 1995) - Getting rid of a lemon with a long MOT 10 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Now I have a new car I need to get rid of my old knackered Fiesta. As mention in another thread it has a long MOT but due to severe valve train wear it dosn't always start first time in the mornings (will change the oil to see if it cures it).
