  • Audi A3 98 Standard Stereo confusion 30 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Does anyone know how to turn off the traffic announcements from interupting tape playing or listening to other radio stations...its driving me insane. I've pressed literally every button in there but just keeps on coming...! Also I'm trying to manually program in a channel on the radio but it just doesnt want to save as the frequency seems weak...any pointers.
  • Oxford to Oxford in a Morris Oxford. 26 Jul 2005 (Forum)
On the 5th May 2004, Tim Nicholson and Joanne Bowlt, set off from Oxford, England, to drive to Oxford, New Zealand, in a fifty year old Morris Oxford. Our local news channel (Central News) reported that the round trip has now been completed and the car never once broke down. Not bad for a 50 yr old motor.
  • Peugeot 306 power steering 2 Jun 2005 (Forum)
    He complains that the power steering is occasionally heavy and the wheel doesn't return back to centre after turning a corner, I have checked the fluid reservoir, the pump drive belt seems to be tight , and nothing is screaming like a slipping belt. Has anybody had similar problems? {Upper case text amended. DD}
  • Accident Waiting to Happen ? 29 May 2005 (Forum)
Just seen this on the news about a woman driving with seven teenagers. Three killed plus the driver of the car she hit head on. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/4590713.stm Why can't people understand that there is a good reason for the number of seats/seatbelts in a car ?
  • Blindspots when reversing 29 May 2005 (Forum)
There has been controversy in Australia recently regarding the rear vision when reversing 4 wheel drives. Here is a link to a report on some research done on this: http://tinyurl.com/a44t9 I doubt if UK cars are much better in this regard. I remember hiring a Focus several years ago and finding reversing very difficult.

  • Why a Green light? 12 May 2005 (Forum)
Saw a Doctor driving on a green beacon today for the first time in ages. Aside from hoping he was a better doctor than driver, I have been wondering why doctors (uniquely?) have been allocated a green emergency light?
  • noisy wipers on my Micra 27 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Does anybody know of any sort of product on the market that can help? Or any tips on how to, if not cure, then lesson the problem? I'll try anything, they're driving me crazy!
  • Ford Galaxy 1.9Tdi PD 130 VW engine 13 Apr 2005 (Forum)
HELP! I was driving my galaxy tdi 130 the other day and it suddenly lost the majority of its power. It will only rev up to 3000 rpm in all gears. I also take forever to start - before it was very quick at starting! It is a 2004 Ford Galaxy Ghia 1.9TDi PD 130ps VW engine.
  • Confess - how many of you do this? 4 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Driving to work this morning a car lurched across the road at me at a relatively slow speed. As I braked hard, I noticed that the cause was the driver putting his seat belt on after the car was in motion.

  • Battery Recharge 22 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hi - how long should I need to drive my car after jump starting it so as to recharge the battery? The reason I ask is that I did so for about 25 mins last night but battery was still flat when I went to restart this morning. Not sure if it's relevant but car is a Jag XJS and battery had been fine up until recent cold weather.
  • Central London to A3 22 Mar 2005 (Forum)

  • White smoke from under bonnet - mk3 Golf 20 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I have a mk3 Golf 1.8, which I bought a few weeks ago. Today after a 50 mile drive, white smoke started appearing from under the bonnet, accompanied by a burning smell. Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea as to what may be the problem, how easy it is to fix, cost, etc.
  • Cross hatching on motorway slip roads 14 Mar 2005 (Forum)
My understanding is that they exist to ensure merging traffic enters the traffic flow at the corect angle. If people drive across them they are often trying to enter at an angle closer to 90degrees in relation to the existing traffic. I see this happening a lot - for example where the M40 enters the anticlock M25
  • Your car says a lot about who you are 13 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Judging by the amount of abuse I regulary get, I'm convinced that when driving around in my red volvo 340, other road users (especially white van man) think its being driven by a cloth capped old bloke and act accordingly. Do any of you fellow volvo 340 owners have the same problem?
  • Shapes that don't date 11 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Anything else built between 1975 and 1995 that could be new releases in 2005? -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
  • French Fuel Prices 10 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I'm off to Meribel early next month with SWMBO plus the two little birds - driving via chunnel and autoroute all the way to moutiers. I know diesel is still cheap over there but how does unleaded compare - and is it worth coming off the autoroute to find a Carrefour etc for cheaper petrol?
  • Norwich Union 7 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Annoying, (very), and I wonder if it harms their chances of client uptake by being, "too in the face." I hope this is going to be a very short thread, but it is driving (pun), me blooming mad. Regards as ever, Martin.
  • 4x4 'attitude' 1 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Anyone else notice a discernable difference amongst the Fulham Farmer brigade in terms of driving style during the snowy weather the last few days? Its as if they are showing off by smugly roaring along in the snow, taking that island a bit quickly, and generally seeing how their otherwise futile toy behaves itself on the two days a year its ownership could nearly be justified.
