Audi A4 B6 (2001 - 2005) - 2002 1.9tdi car problems 14 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hope someone can help out there, just got my car back from a garage after they fitted a new timing belt, now the car is running worse than ever , seems to be on take off fine, although when on the motorway and changing gears and then accelerating the rpm needle moves quickly from ie 2000 to 4000 or 5000 although the power is not going to the car and then the needle goes back down and the motor starts to increase in speed if you press the accelarator pedal slowly. -
The Car's The Question 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I guess this has been asked before so maybe a thread would suffice as an answer. We are looking to buy a run around, the social lives of our children demand frequent 10-12 mile trips to town and it's costing us fortune in diesel in the Smax and when two are going in different directions the Landy 110 gauge can be seen moving! -
Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2001 2.0 HDI Fuel Pressure 4 Oct 2008 (Forum)
We have a 307 HDI 90 bhp 2001 'Y', vehicle brings up two fault codes when it goes into fault mode P1113 Diesel High Pressure monitoring pressure controller at stop & P1198 Diesel High Pressure monitoring flow regulator at stop. When we clear the codes, the vehicle runs okay as long as its not under load or if you ask for full throttle. As soon as you request full throttle the Anti Pollution light and Management Light on the dash comes on and the vehicle goes into limp mode. -

Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.2 Diesel non starter after a couple of days 2 Sep 2008 (Forum)
However, just recently, if I leave it a couple of days, (on level ground) it turns over lovely (it has a new battery) but wont fire up. The only way to get it to go is to use easy start, fire it up where its running roughly, stop, leave it 15 mins then it starts 1st time. If I use it daily, the next day it starts 1st time no problem, it only appears to be when its been left a couple of days, can you point me as to what may be wrong please? -
Audi A4 (1995 - 2000) - 97 1.8T Head gasket blown. 1 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Also what products are there on the market that will get rid of the huge amount of oil in the cooling system. I've been told that putting washing powder into the system and running it at high idle for ten minutes can be good!!! Thanks, Stuart -
Mitsbishi Colt 1.1 or 1.3 27 Aug 2008 (Forum)
My friends on here may have noticed that I have been sleuthing for a little run around for some friends as I am supposed to be the car nut. I always like to do my research and hence I up a thread up on the Jazz. The Colt was mentioned as a great little car but is it true that the 1.1 3 pot feels quicker than the 1.3 4 cylinder? -
Vauxhall Astra F (1991 - 1998) - 1997 1.6 gurgling coolant header tank 25 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Am losing a little water but can't find any sign of a leak 'no wet patch under car/no water staining under bonnet'. Car does run on the cool side stuck open thermostat I fancy for that. Cooling system seems to be pressurized when releasing filler cap in the morning. If this was a domestic heating system I'd say air lock ! do these cooling systems air lock and how do you vent them ? -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 2.0 HDi - Coolant loss 13 Aug 2008 (Forum)
All the hoses I can see and/or touch seem dry, with no trace of residue. No trace of oil contamination. The car runs fine. Is this something I can pursue myself, or does it need some kind of pressure-testing, or other specialist equipment? As the cambelt (to our knowledge) has never been changed, are we looking at a possible coolant pump failure? -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 02 1.4 Starting problems- what do these codes mean 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Yesterday he took it to a garage and got the following codes u0001 high speed can communication bus u2510 invalid security data recieved from ecu. Ford had the car for 2 days but could not find or fix the fault. The car seems to be running okay once started. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks -
Honda Civic IMA hybrid (2003 - 2005) - 03 1.4 What car is this based upon? 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Haynes Uk were unable to help, and Honda said it would not help as I should take my car to a main dealer for everything. I know none of the electric wizzy stuff will not be covered, but surely the running gear, interior etc must be from another civic. Thank in advance for any help. -
Fun car pre March 2001 4 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Sourcing an immaculate Mk2 Gti for everyday commuting is well nigh impossible, but what other fun cars can anyone suggest? Only criteria are hatch/estate (tip runs) minimum 35mpg in gentle driving and reliability. I am at a loss...suggested a post 2001 Cupra 20VT/Octavia Vrs but the possibility of £400 VED put him off! Budget is £5k ish. -
Ford Fiesta (1976 - 1983) - 1982 1.3 Pinking - solve with fuel additives or su 27 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hello I recently had my old Mk1 Fiesta tuned and it's running much smoother now - the ignition was very retarded and emissions were borderline apparently. However, I'm getting some mild pinking under acceleration and was wondering what is the best way to solve it. -
Honda Civic UK (1995 - 2000) - 1996 Concealed Rusting Brakepipes (& Rover 400) 17 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The car passed its MOT last year without them being mentioned. A post mortem at the garage revealed that where the rear brake pipes run under the car they are covered by a plastic casing which renders them all but invisible. Suprisingly they are not required to remove this casing to inspect the pipes. The MOT form did include a note that the sills could not be inspected due to plastic covers, surely another note should be included regarding the concealed brake pipes. -
Toyota - Liteace 94 2.0 not changing gears 13 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It had a hole in the rad so we had it changed, but they towed it back. Now we have it home the engine runs ok but no transmision. Has it got a safe mode on it, because its an automatic and is stuck in third gear when we put it in drive. We have spent a small fortune and are at our wits end and still no go. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 1.9d Gear linkages worn. 7 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The ratios of the 5 speed do not suit Australian outback driving especially 2nd gear on winding mountain dirt roads. it runs out of puff. Third is great. Anyway of improving the rev range of these engines safely? -
Nissan 350Z Coupe (2003 - ) - 350z for Elise/VX220 Turbo? 22 May 2008 (Forum)
Hi I am very tempted to swap my 350z for an Elise or vx220 Turbo as fancy something a bit more extreme - my car is a 350z GT Coupe with 18" Rays Alloys Its great but I have the opportunity of running a small car day to day for work so can afford to get something a little more 'mad' potentially. The question is.....would you say an Elise/VX220 would tick the boxes or are they a bit over-rated? -
Volkswagen Bora (1999 - 2006) - 99 1.6 petrol ECT sensor - where is it 20 May 2008 (Forum)
Sorry to sound dense - but on the Bora 1.6 petrol 1999 model, can someone tell me where what I've been told is the ECT sensor (apparently better known as Engine Control Tempertaure sensor) This is the sensor that affects running and in particular idle. According to the manual, the sensor is in the MAF and cannot be replaced seperately. Although, in talking with German and Swedish, they tell me it can be purchased - I'm wondering whether they have the right sensor in mind though, as they're talking about it being into the block or head. -
Honda - CB1100 (yr2000) X11 Surging problem 13 May 2008 (Forum)
My motorbike has developed a fault and im stuck for ideas. After a steady run at motorway speeds, once I close the throttle to slow down, the engine jerks as though its being starved of fuel. Feels very similar to the good old days when your bike ran onto reserve and you had to grope about to switch the fuel tap onto 'reserve'. -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 07 1.8 VVT Fuel consumption - any experience? 12 May 2008 (Forum)
Toying with idea of changing my 05 plate Mondeo 130bhp TDCi for a '57' plate Vectra 1.8 VVT SRi. Around town running in the Mondeo typically gives me 37-38mpg, although this rises quickly if a bit of distance work gets thrown in. I'm doing about 15,000 miles a year so, BIG QUESTION...... What am I likely to see day to day from the 1.8 VVT Vectra?
