• Lambda Sensor Measurements - Volvo 240SE 17 Dec 2005 (Forum)
  Car ( Volvo 240SE 1993, yes that one )is running rough so tapped into the Lambda ( Scope )signal and it is only crossing every few seconds and even then erratically. The car when hot is idling at about 1050 rpm ( High).

  I'm hoping to be in a position to change my car in the spring and I am toying with the idea of a Volvo S60 2.0 T manual in S or SE spec. The vehicle won't be new, probably Y/51/02 plate. I've been a Ford Mondeo man for many years now so it's time for a change. Can anyone who owns/drives or has any other knowledge of the S60 give me some input as to what to expect.

  I have a 13 year old Volvo 740 GLE estate with electric sunroof. Although the sunroof has never failed it is now very slow to operate and does not close the final 2 or 3 inches without a helpful shove. I have been given conflicting advice from various sources, including: 1.motor on the way out; 2. stretced cables & 3. runners clogged up with dirt and grease.

  Hi gang - my 1991 Volvo 940 SE turbo has developed a noticeable oil leak which concerns me. The oil appears to be dripping from the bottom of the black cam-belt cover but no traces of oil runs are visible externally so far as I can see so the leak appears to be behind the cover.

  It's funny how small things like the feel / feedback from controls can really affect the enjoyment of a car. I've just had a Volvo V40 D4 (the 177bhp diesel) for a day.  A nice premium hatch, tidy handling, fairly smooth ride etc. But the thing that turned me off it was the heavy, and non-linear, throttle pedal action.

  Hiya Went to look at a 53 plate Volvo V70 2.7 D5 auto today - it's done 178k but has a full volvo service history and only one owner from new. Very nice condition and well looked after When we test drove it there seemed to be a slight vibration felt through the passenger footwell which felt more like a wobble when I accelerated hard.

  Almost banger money by normal standards. Fuel consumption not a huge issue. Seen the talk on this forum about the 9 series volvo being the last of the proper volvo's with easy mechanics. As HJ says in his car by car guide the saloon is almost unsellable compared to the hugely more practical estate. Have seen a good condition 940S saloon auto on a J plate in red, with 114K and a far bit of history.

  Now, you might call me biased against Volvos (having been run over by one in the past), but I hope you'll forgive me if I have a rant about the latest Volvo advert on the radio. It's the one with the guy who gets a phone call while he's at the airport, and the first thing he does is launch into a monologue about how wonderful his XC90 is, until the caller asks how much it costs - at which point he gets all evasive and pretends his flight is taking off.

  ., then continue at 40 in a 40 mph, and still do the same in a 30 mph, do they honestly believe that because they've averaged 40mph, they're doing ok. My other pet hates are in no particular order VOLVO drivers, they think they own the road, are always at the front of a queue, slowest away from the lights and hog the middle lane at 65 mph flat cap wearers, often driving volvo's and drivers of "P" REG CARS, frequently Volvo drivers and wearing flat caps and those as others who've mentioned people who can't drive at night, especially in Volovs. horse boxes and obviously caravans, of course they've got the right to use the road- just not between 06.00 and 20.00, especially if driving "p "reg Volvo's whilst wearing a flat cap. and finally foreign lorry drivers, not because they're foreign purely because they come over here fully loaded with fuel, destroying our roads and contributing jack, whilst causing many an accident with their un restricted speed limitors and not being used to driving on the left hand side.

  No sign of any corrosion around ABS unit. Clean as a whistle in fact. Unit has 'Ate controller' written on it as well as '9401541 Volvo'. Made in the Phillipines. Thank you all.

  I bought a Volvo V40 estate (petrol injection/Mitsubishi engine) second hand in July 2001. It had done 30,000 miles in the 18 months since it was first registered.It went for its 70,000 mile service/MOT 4 weeks ago, but failed its emissions test very badly.

  After a long time motoring I got to thinking which make has given the best service. I've had Fiats, Vauxhalls, Mercs, Volvos, Datsuns, and for me the Volvo estates have been the workhorses which have eaten the miles and carried the dogs and children and all with little problem.
