Holden Torana touring car for sale 9 May 2017 (News)
But in 1979 the Torana battled to a victory, winning first place for Morris, and creating Australian motorsport history as it was the first time an ‘underdog’ – a private team – had beaten the factory entrants. James Nicholls, Mossgreen collectors’ cars specialist, said, ‘Still in running order, this rare Torana is highly original, and still showcases the livery it wore in 1979. An exceptional rally car, it holds a special affection with Australian motorsports enthusiasts. It is of particular significance to the Holden brand and its list of Australian automotive sporting achievements.’ Purchased by the current owner in 1979, the car last raced at Wanneroo on 6 July, 1980, finishing in fifth place in the five-lap Street Cars race and fourth place in the second event, the Twin State Challenge. -

Vauxhall Heritage collection to open its doors in June 4 May 2016 (News)
The breadth and quality of Vauxhall’s Heritage Collection is near-unique, with most of the cars roadworthy and maintained by a small team, led by senior vehicle restorer Andy Boddy. Most of the cars were also built in Luton. Vauxhall’s Heritage Centre Open Day will run from 10am to 4pm. Refreshments will be available throughout the day, and parking is free. The Heritage Centre is situated behind Vauxhall’s head office on Park Street, Luton LU1 3HG. -

Model T to drive around the globe 21 Mar 2016 (News)
The couple, both retired, have so far covered almost 50,000 miles, visiting and supporting various projects run by the international children’s aid organisation: SOS – Children’s Villages. The Ford Model T covered 14,000 miles in 180 days during the first leg of the drive in 2012, which took them from their home town of Edam, to Cape Town in South Africa. -
Minder Capri and Daimler for sale 25 Feb 2016 (News)
Legend has it that George Cole, the actor who played Arthur Daley in the show, wanted to buy the car himself in the 1980s, but it was given away in a competition run by the TV Times. Alongside the Daimler will be its on-screen parther – a white Ford Capri driven by Terry McCann, Daley’s ‘minder’ who was famously payed by Dennis Waterman. -

Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Last Defender to cost £10,000 – but it’s a pedal car 16 Sep 2015 (News)
It’s constructed precisely to scale and incorporates all of the Defender’s distinctive characteristics, such as protective chequer plating, cylindrical running bars and rugged off-road tyres complete with mudflaps. A spokesman said, ‘The drive assembly is constructed to enable the young driver to pedal both forwards and backwards while a spring suspension and working brakes – complete with parking brake – will allow the little one to go on many big adventures.’ Inside, there’s that familiar dashboard, working hooter and rear stowage section with cover. -
Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Next-gen Kia Sportage launched 15 Sep 2015 (News)
While the new Sportage retains Kia's traditional styling cues, including a ‘Tiger nose’ grille, the new model is radically different to the outgoing car, with a bluff nose and large, bold LED running lights the most obvious changes. Wide rear wheel arches and a tapering window line lead to slim LED tail lights, which are linked together by an illuminated strip. Inside, the cabin gets a complete overhaul with more high quality materials and a new infotainment system, with a large colour touchscreen dominating the dashboard. -
Porsche scores historic one-two at Le Mans 15 Jun 2015 (News)
Porsche has ended Audi’s Le Mans dominance by securing victory at the 83rd running of the famous 24-Hour race. The Porsche 919 Hybrid scored an historic one-two win, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro finishing two laps adrift in third place. It’s the 17 th time Porsche has secured victory at the world famous Le Mans 24 Hours race and the first time in 24 years that an active Formula One driver has won, with Nico Hulkenberg partnering England's Nick Tandy and New Zealand's Earl Bambe to victory in the number 19 car. -
RAC calls for changes in private parking charge law 20 Feb 2015 (News)
Stephen Glaister, Director of the RAC Foundation, said: “Finding a parking space can be stressful but when things go wrong in car parks on private land and disputes arise over parking tickets emotions run high. “It is not always clear how the charges invoiced by private parking companies are arrived at, whilst the process for appealing may not be fully understood.” You can read the full RAC report below. -
A Grand Monday: Triumph 2000 MkII 29 Sep 2014 (News)
It’s up for sale at £800 – so be prepared for a project that needs a bit of TLC. That said, it completed the Triumph 10 Counties Run in 2013, so this workhorse isn’t afraid of a little, er, hard work. Having clocked up the miles, you might be able to get away with just giving that straight-six a good service – but the automatic gearbox will need some attention as it has developed a leak. -
BMW 2002 Turbo project makes £25k at Anglia Car Auctions 26 Aug 2014 (News)
Offered with no reserve, the two-owner car has so-far covered 47,921 miles but is now indeed of a full restoration, including new sills. There’s some good news for the buyer, though – the car does run and all of its Turbo-specific parts and trim are there and unmolested (although it’s currently on Minilite-style wheels). The Turbo was just one of several high-value items that passed through the doors at the King’s Lynn-based auction house, the most expensive of which was a 1964 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII. -

Group B to star at the Donington Historic 13 Apr 2014 (News)
However, in 1987, following a number of high-profile accidents and prominent driver deaths, Group B was banned, with enthusiasts’ only chance to see the cars in action restricted to demonstration events. 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the 6R4, and Group B is staging a special display of these iconic rally machines at the Festival. At the 2014 Donington Historic Festival, the HRCR will run a series of auto-tests on the Melbourne Loop and will field a guest driver who worked with the Rootes Group Competitions Department during the period when the Sunbeam Tiger was the model of choice for many international events. -

Porsche collection uncovered by Anglia Car Auctions 31 Jul 2013 (News)
The first slice of the collection to be offered in August will be barn finds, project cars as well as some still in perfect running order. They range from a 1956 left hand drive 356A Coupe barn find, which still drives, complete with matching engine and chassis numbers, to a 1972 left hand drive 911E project car with US title and UK custom documents. -

Preview: Silverstone classic car auction, Northamptonshire, 27 July 10 Jun 2013 (News)
This particular DB5 had a near 18 month, no expense-spared restoration with parts supplied from Aston Workshop and HWM Aston Martin. Extensive mechanical work was undertaken to include an upgrade to run on unleaded fuel, water pump overhaul, reconditioning of the starter motor and replacement of various other consumables and components. The car was fully stripped and repainted in Royal Blue metallic by Specialised Paintwork of Reading in March 2013.
