• Petrol Fumes in J Reg BMW 27 Oct 2003 (Forum)
  Dear All, I own a '92 J reg 1.6 BMW. Over the last few days there has been a very strong smell of petrol inside the car, there appear to be no obvious leaks. Has anyone had a car of this type and age with a problem of this type and if so what was the solution, 'cos we're scratching our heads a bit - Thanks for any helpful comments, John

  Hi, Well I bought the C70 great car Girl Friend Hates it, so now buying an BMW 323i. I have registered on BCA on line catalouge whch is very usefull. However I have a copy of parkers, and what price would I expect to pay for an 1999 323I se in auction with around 50k miles.

  A friend runs a G reg. bmw 735i SE (150,000 miles & picked up for next to nothing) He has recently noticed a bald patch appearing in just one area on the outside edge of the front offside tyre. The tracking is fine & no wheel imbalance can be felt through the steering wheel.

  I have an '87 325i SE Auto which should have a lot of life left in it at 97K, but it has had a series of intermittent electrical faults with engine management / ECU that hundreds of pounds at 'BMW Specialists' have failed to rectify. Does anyone know a good, honest, reputable garage / mechanic who could give the car a good looking over and do a full diagnostic test that I can rely on?

  In bright sunlight the dash including Sat Nav is bright and clear travelling into shade the whole dash and Sat Nav gets dimmer and dimmer to such an extent that the Clock/OutsideTemp/Fuel Range cannot be read it virtually disappears, the car has been returned to the dealers twice with no success. What peeves me is that the dealer received an email from BMW Technical saying that they know of this problem and have no plans for a fix. I have emailed BMW and complained but car manufacturers being a law to themselves have not had the courtesy to respond. Any help HJ would be greatly appreciated as I cannot accept that BMW KNOW there is a fault and are taking no action to remedy.

  Hi All, i was hoping someone could help me out with a dilemma please? I am looking into getting a BMW 1 Series for my every day car and i do around 1000 miles a month. I usually keep cars for at least 5 years before thinking about getting a replacement. The 118i and 116d both have a little 3 cylinder engine 1.5L.

  I take this to be the rear suspension doing its 'thing' (sorry for the non-technical post). Question is this: Is it normal? Car is out of its BMW warranty soon so if it's a sign of a problem I'd prefer to deal with it sooner rather than later. I note HJ lists a couple of air suspension failures on cars of a similar vintage. Ownership has otherwise been uneventful.

  Hi all. I have just bought a fab BMW, but i have the problem mentioned above. These should charge in the ignition whilst driving, and are supposed to be 'sealed for life' None of the buttons work, on either fob. I can unlock the doors manually with key, and the fobs work in dash, for driving, but the buttons don't!

  Hi, I'm in a dilema and would really appreciate some knowledgable help. We are buying an estate for the 1st time and the only one we really like is a bmw. The 318 seems to suit our needs.   We have been to see one which is a 54 plate (old shape) with 81,000. FSH and one owner for £4999 We have also seen a 07 plate (so new shape) with 115,000 for £5600.
