The Driver Attention Warning System keeps track of a person's eyelid movements and emits audio messages if they appear to be tired. One of the sounds played does not stop unless the car stereo's fascia is removed and a reset button is pressed. Saab commented that the technology has been developed as fatigue and inattention are among the two biggest factors in motor accidents. -
Rare vehicles mark Volvo's 80th anniversary 5 Nov 2007 (News)
It has been 80 years since the company wheeled out its first model in Gothenburg on April 14th 1927. Now, to celebrate the feat, Volvo Cars Heritage will be bringing nine rare models to the exhibition hall from Friday November 9th to Sunday November 11th. According to the company, some of the units being brought in are the only examples of their kind in existence. -
September sales milestone hit by Mazda 26 Oct 2007 (News)
According to the automaker, some 9,770 of its vehicles were driven out of dealerships over the period, including 1,319 Mazda2s. The company claimed that the model is "the right car at the right time" for consumers, with sales director Jeremy Thomson espousing its merits. He stated: "The lightweight strategy with its benefits of improved CO2 emissions and better fuel consumption arrived at a time when other cars in the sector are getting larger and heavier. -
Tracey Emin's Fiat brings £42,000 at auction 17 Oct 2007 (News)
The vehicle was put up for grabs in order to raise money for the PEAS charity, which is looking to build libraries in schools in Uganda. Before the end of 2008, Emin will have placed four of the cars up for auction, each one looking to take her work "quite literally out of the gallery and on to the street". "I really enjoyed working on the Fiat 500, which I refer to as the 'mouse car'," the artist commented. -

New Mondeo reaches NCAP top ten 27 Sep 2007 (News)
Euro NCAP awarded the model a five-star rating for it adult occupant protection in addition to four stars for its child safety features. In the top ten the car will be joined by stable mates the Ford Focus, Galaxy and S-MAX. Gisbert Haeb, Ford of Europe vehicle safety manager, claimed the Mondeo was becoming a safe automobile with the release of each new model. -
Hybrid campaign sees Lexus blitz media 18 Sep 2007 (News)
"The campaign will emphasise the engineering innovations that have enabled Lexus to build a range of high performance cars with substantially better emissions levels and fuel efficiency than rival premium market brands," the company commented.
