Rare vehicles mark Volvo's 80th anniversary

Mon, 05 Nov 2007
The Birmingham NEC is set to host a birthday party of sorts for Swedish manufacturer Volvo.

It has been 80 years since the company wheeled out its first model in Gothenburg on April 14th 1927.

Now, to celebrate the feat, Volvo Cars Heritage will be bringing nine rare models to the exhibition hall from Friday November 9th to Sunday November 11th.

According to the company, some of the units being brought in are the only examples of their kind in existence.

"By displaying these unusual models, visitors will be introduced to some lesser known parts of the Volvo product history and older cars that are not very well known outside of Sweden," said the firm.

Volvo is a supplier of buses, trucks and commercial construction equipment.

It also supplies drive systems for marine and industrial use and lost year generated revenue of 258 billion SEK (£19.3 billion).ADNFCR-1081-ID-18342615-ADNFCR
