Signalling going out of fashion 23 Oct 2006 (Forum)
(I've had to add the word 'signalling' to the title so other backroomers know what the thread is about. This becomes more important later in a Forum search because if there is no key word in the title it can't be found. HJ) -
Substantial VAG sales growth in UK 19 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Martin Sweeney posted it so if you could Martin I would be grateful for a response. I am looking for a link or reference to use. It is important otherwise I would not keep asking. Apologies for the repitition. -
Anyone know the AXR Crossbone? 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I seem to remember reading a test review in one of the UK papers on the Crossbone which slated it for having scarcely any suspension and being pointless but I can't find the report online. The UK importer mentioned on the French website doesn't have anything on AXRs on its website. Does the Morini 400 cc engine have any track record in other uses? -
Car Depot, Hull 14 Jan 2006 (Forum)
They currently have 55 reg 2006 model 2.5 Impreza STi's at £22,495 which seems a good deal. The ad says UK spec but are these likly to be imports? I know the obvious answer is to ask the company but I just wondered if anyone has had any dealings with them. If the experiences were bad then please feel free to email me off forum so as not to break the 'name and shame'policy. -
Pollen filters necessary? 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Cost over £10.00 and as usual thought what am I changing this for and why not just throw the old one away and leave the box empty. Obviously an important piece of kit for people who suffer from pollen but for the fortunate ones who don't what is the point. The heater or cold air would come through unrestricted and obviously be more efficient. Seem to remember Vauxhall were the first to install these. -

Help! Mitsubishi GTO aftermarket parts 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I'm trying to source a set of wind deflectors that fit around the side windows on a 1997 Mitsubishi GTO. A mate managed to break one of his and now wants to find a replacement set. His car is an import and it's not a genuine Mitsubishi part as far as we can establish. I've googled until my fingers have started to peel but to no avail. Anyone? -
A Chinese Fit 4 Aug 2005 (Forum)
AFAIK Honda produce the Jazz in Japan only and I doubt that they would undermine the existing market where they can sell the Jazz all day at circa £10K. The only reason to import a Fit to the UK is in the 1.5 Vtech form which I believe are produced for the Jap and Malaysin markets. -
tyres for shogun 14 Feb 2005 (Forum)
The Dunlop TG35's have lasted 45k miles and have been OK, but I have nothing to compare with. Comfort, long life and wet grip are important. Low rolling resistance would be nice aswell. Off road driving is limited to a 1 mile pot holed unadopted road every day. Any recommendations - dealers say Michelin Syncro's are good (and expensive!) -
Mitsubishi FTO - what to look for 7 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Been asked to look at a few Mitsubishi FTO's by a lady who wants one. There's a few for sale within a 40 mile radius (Autotrader!) AFAIK they will all be grey import and 8-9 years old. I don't know a vast amount about these cars - apart from that they suffer the usual Mitsi idle control and rattling tappet problems. Is there anything else I should look for (esp. body/trim wise)? -
'CAFE' in the UK 30 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi A question for HJ really. In the write-up on the 2005 MY Honda Jazz, HJ mentions that Honda are not importing the more powerful version of the Jazz because they are using the Jazz model to maintain their CAFE rating. I had never heard of CAFE but a quick search on the Web revealed it stands for Corporate Average Fuel Economy ( http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/cafe/overview.htm ) but the only references I can find seem to indicate that this is target used for the American market. -
Corolla Verso D-4D or Touran 2.0 TDi 18 Aug 2004 (Forum)
With only 115 BHP I am worried the corolla verso will be a bit sluggish. I know the BHP isn't as important as torque in a diesel but I am just trying to find out if anyone has compared the two engines. -
Diesel and Automatic - ideas? 9 Mar 2004 (Forum)
He'd also like a diesel if possible, as nearly all his journeys are long motorway ones, and economy is important. It also needs to be capable of towing a 2 berth caravan. It'll do around 15k miles a year and be kept for the next 10 years or so. All ideas gratefully received! Thanks, Ian -
£5\£6000 buying advice please.... 20 Jan 2004 (Forum)
The other option is to buy a smaller\more economical car that still has a degree of comfort approaching the Saab, thus saving on insurance and petrol but not losing out too much on comfort. Any suggestions? ( Reliability an important factor too) Thanks in advance. -
Distraction - the gameshow 24 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Are any of you as sad as myself - that you watch the so-called gameshow called distraction? Anyhow - now for the all important motoring association. I have been surprised the two weeks when the mini was being smashed up at the end of the show just how tough the headlamp lenses were. It often takes two or three good blows from a club hammer to smash them through. -
Which 4X4 for 15K? 19 Nov 2003 (Forum)
All fuel will be paid for by the company. He is currently considering a Landcruiser or a Range Rover and is also looking into Japanese Imports Any advice on the above or any others which we may have missed? Geoff -
Meguilar's - any observations 5 Nov 2003 (Forum)
This, the Gold version polish, sells in my local store for the equiv of £8.67 for about 300 ml vs good old-fashioned Turtle Wax which runs £2.47 equiv for the same amount. Both are US imported. The former claims to be the duck's guts but it's only wax after all and very expensive. I'm wondering whether I should treat my new car to it and if so what benefits can I expect, or just stick with the tried and true. -
Which one? 8 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Yippee - I've sold my imported Golf and am looking at buying a sports car. Had planned on the TT but decided against it. Two other options come to mind: mazda rx 8 nissan 350 z They're both corkers to look at but I've heard some negative things about the Mazda (albeit from the Nissan salesman). -
Previa - v - Lucida 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
In trying to advise her, I think that she would be better off with a diesel automatic. The Previa is petrol only but is a known quantity, but the Lucida is a Japanese import come with diesel/auto and the vehicles on sale are of uncertain pedigree. Can anyone advise me about things to look for and whether she should steer clear? Thanks GTLK -
Where to buy P21S Wheel Cleaner in UK 16 Jun 2003 (Forum)
http://www.iauto.co.uk/pages/alloy_wheel.htm ..but it's expensive at £14 and £7 delivery for just 500ml. Is it available elsewhere? If it's not officially imported, why not, if it's so good? I'm looking for a non-acid based wheel cleaner. The only alternative to P21S I can find is Muc-Off, but it's very cheap, so is it any good? Can't find any reviews/opinions.
