  Last week’s 65k mile 04 reg Prius II T-Spirit was down £200 bidding to £8,300 rather than £8,500 which suggests it will probably sell next week. A couple of potential cabs were sensible money, a tidy 60k mile 2000W Mazda 636 2.0Gsi (with a shiny steering wheel) sold for £1,650 and a clean 50k mile 2000W Nissan Primera II 1.8S sold for £1,800. There were even two three-plus-threes today. The 31k mile 05 Honda FR-V 1.7 with a scrape on its nearside rear wheelarch sold for £7,700 and the 13k mile 05/55 facelift model FIAT Multipla 1.9JTD Eleganza sold for £7,750.

  Mixed Fortunes at Auction Today 12 Feb 2007 (News)
  At least a couple of 1998 Ford Kas were sensible at £800 and £925. But then a 60lk mile Y reg sold for £1,800. And soon after a 269,000 mile (yes 269k) 99V Mazda Premacy diesel sold for £1,050. One notable exception was just £7,850 bid for an 82k mile Y reg Audi TT 180 quattro, but maybe the dashboard had failed. The big stuff wasn’t particularly cheap either.

  Downmarket a bit in the Motability section, a two-month-old 55 reg Focus II 1.6LX automatic sold for £9,950, a 7k mile 04 reg Mazda MX5 1.8 Sport 6-speed (curiously bearing the glue marks from a set of ‘L’ plates) sold for £9,850 and a 25k mile 2004/53 Renault Scenic 1.4 Expression was the cheapest new shape Scenic I’ve yet seen, selling for £6,200.

    The RSR Jaguar XKR GT made its racing debut during the Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, in September 2009.   The 7k mile 04 reg MX5 Sport 6-speed in the photo sold for £10,500, which makes sense against the £14,000 discounted new price being asked for the last unsold old shape MX5 1.8 5-speeds. I also saw my first Mazda 6 under £5,000: a 95k mile 02 2.0TS 5-door, which sold for £4,400. Yet in another hall, a sought-after 60k mile 2000W Premacy 2.0 GXI diesel made a strong £4,100. Passat diesels still make more than Mondeos.

  A grey 99T Mondeo 2.0LX with 51k miles and 11 months MOT made a market average £1,850, whereas a 89,000 mile 97R navy Mazda 626 LXi made a comparatively high £1,600. £1,240 would have bought you a 2000W Fiat Brava 1.6 Trofeo. It was a horrid lime green colour but seemed honest and cheap for its 42k miles.

  The international jury presiding over the Car of the Year award, made up of 58 specialist journalists from 22 European countries, has elected the Fiat 500 Car of the Year 2008 with 385 votes, ahead of the Mazda 2 (325 votes) and the Ford Mondeo (202). In addition to winning the Car of the Year 2008 award outright, the super-compact Fiat distinguished itself by obtaining votes from most members of the jury: 57 out of 58 included it in their short-list, and 33 made it top in their personal rankings.
