  • Volvo C70 - Winter car covers 23 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I have a 2010 Volvo C70 which has been treated with GardX. I do not garage this car and do not run it during the worst of the winter weather, (i.e snow) as I also have a Suzuki Jimny. During the worst of the winter weather should I consider protecting the Volvo with a car cover as can be purchased on popular auction sites?
  • RAC "Great Car Cover Up"- HELP!! 5 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Hi Folks, I have just been informed that I have won a car through the RAC's "Great car cover up", a competiton they ran to promote their vehicle check service. There are 3 cars under covers, ones a Porsche (presuming Boxster), ones a 'headturner' and one is a complete dud (which you dont actually win).
  • Short term european breakdown cover 20 Jun 2006 (Forum)
We are taking our car (1995 W124 Mercedes E class diesel) over to France for a couple of weeks this year on holiday. The car itself is in good condition, well maintained and will be serviced before we go. However it is of course highly advisable to take out breakdown cover and I would welcome any advice on who might provide the cover we need.

  • Classic car fitted seat covers 19 Jun 2005 (Forum)
My triumph has vinyl seats and in the warm weather they burn your bum and make you sweat buckets so I was thinking about getting fitted covers to put over them. Suede style or thick cotton stuff (preferably not going to shrink in a down pour if I accidentally leave the roof down). Anyone know any suppliers? I have looked at a few of the car sites that do seat covers and most of them seem to be the nasty nylon ones to put under mechanics' rear ends rather than day to day ones.
  • "Breathable" cover - made of PVC ? 9 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Ordered a car cover for my Celica off the web - It was advertised as "Waterproof and Breathable". The cover that has arrived is made of heavyweight (non-woven) PVC lined with a soft cotton down inner - abit like the material that an old PVC "sweaty" mac would have been made of years ago.

  • urgent advice needed 30 Apr 2006 (Forum)
a mate of mine had her car in a garage for some warrenty work and the garage gave her a loan car but cus she was under 25 there insurance didn't cover her so they said she had to use her own insurance to cover the car. she rang the insurance company and told them it was a loan car and they only covered her on tpft and the garage were aware of this. bad news is that she drove into the back of a car. the garage recovered the car and now are not letting her have her car back till she pays 1000 notes to cover the damage on the loan car. can the garage keep her car ???
  • 97 P11 Primera cowl cover 26 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi everyone, I was changing wiper pivots on the car and I wonder if the cowl cover has to be sealed really tight to the windshiled (the windshield side of the cover). When I was taking it off the plastic lip that runs along the cover didn't seem to have any traces of sealant (or may be it dried up over time).
  • Test Drive Insurance - Private Sale 22 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I planned to test drive a private sale car and 'phoned my insurance company (Direct Line) to extend my cover for the day. I know that I have 3rd party cover for a car not owned by me but I'm not driving somebody else's car with only third-party cover!
  • Permabag - Car cover - Anyone used one ? 11 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Cannisters of dessicant can be regenerated by baking in your cookers oven. Seems to have the advantage that as it competely encapsulates the car, even from underneah, and its completely waterproof ( and so has the dessicant) that fit isnt such a problem - bad fits seems to leave puddles on covers thateventually leak through to the car underneath.
  • Temporary Car Insurance 21 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I am trying to help a friend out and wonder if anyone here can help me. He is looking for temporary (1 month) insurance cover on my car. Many companies have turned him down because he is not the registered owner. Does anyone know of any insurance cover/company that will cover temporarily for someone who is not the registered owner of the car?
  • Mk3 Mondeo Steering - bulkhead cover 19 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Just noticed on my post 05 makeover Mk 3 1.8LX Mondeo that where the steering column goes into the bulkhead under the dash there is no black rubber cover often seen in other cars. It goes into a white plastic outer cover (which is engine side). The white cover protects it from any water etc. If anyone has a similar model can you confirm if there should be a black rubber cover over the steering column?

  • Car Bras 28 Mar 2006 (Forum)
It's been changed because it gave no hint of what the thread is about. HJ.) Saw a Chrysler Grand Voyager in the local car park this morning -the front was hidden by a padded plastic cover that extended from below the grille to the windscreen. Presumably to prevent stone chips, but it completely ruined the look of the car.
  • Honda Shuttle (1999) - European Breakdown cover for older cars 17 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Now the Shuttle is more than 16 years old we are being refused breakdown cover for our holiday in Germany/Poland. Although I have every confidence the car won't let us down, we need to have some peace of mind. Can anyone recommend a European breakdown service for older/classic cars??

  • Corsa E (2016) - Steering Wheel Airbag Cover - Is this a big job? 5 Apr 2019 (Forum)
This doesn't include a new airbag as I don't need one, it's just the cover. My question is, is it a big job to take the airbag out of the old cover and put it in the new one? The car goes back in July and I'm worried it will get flagged.  Thanks in advance.
