Jaguar X-Type 2004 175k - Fracked in France - Breakdown Cover Update 8 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Some of our sturdier membars may recall the story I posted in real time last year about my breakdown/recovery from Orleans/A10. To sum it up, I and the car were independenttly brought home at great expense when the problem turned out to be a detached turbo pipe (despite Pierre the pirate mechanic's insistence it was an injecteur €1500 problem). -

Breakdown service 23 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Dear all I am relatively new to this 'place' and assume what I am about to ask, has been thrashed over a thousand times in the past - notwithstanding that, I wish to take on some sort of breakdown service. For roadside, relay and homestart for 2 people, the AA is quoting £129, which sounds a bit steep to me. I will not join the RAC as long as PR man and self-confessed, non-car owner, John Simpson is working there. -

Extended warranty 12 Jun 2010 (Forum)
My first question was, " I have read your policy summary and it states in significant exclusions and limitations section 4 . we will not pay for repairing or replacing parts which have not suffered a breakdown. Does this mean you need to breakdown? the answer was yes you need to breakdown. I asked if they were serious! the company said yes we are serious! I then asked what about if the gearbox is screaming and xyz company have said it will be £800 now or if it suffers a roadside breakdown it will be £1500? -
Breakdown service 18 May 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, I'm just about to get the Mini and have sorted out the classic insurance (thanks to a useful thread on here!). Now need to organise breakdown cover, but I notice that most of them now have different terms on the "relay" type product - If we can't fix your car at the roadside we'll take you to a garage. If they can't fix it by the end of the day, THEN we'll take you to your destination Not much good to me, looks like a very wasted day. -

Vauxhall Astra H - Compensation for breakdown within six months of pu 20 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Earlier today, he went on holiday in it to France, and on the way broke down on the French motorway system. He called out a local breakdown garage and was towed to their premises where a faulty alternator was diagnosed. It will take until Thursday for them to obtain and fit a new one. My son has therefore hired a car from the garage to enable him to continue to his holiday destination and will pick up his repaired car on the way back next Friday. -
any - best value breakdown cover 23 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi Guys which is the best value for money breakdown cover, currently with the AA and have been for 24 years but its getting very expensive ! over £218.00 We have 4 cars and 4 drivers in one family. GEM appear to offer similar cover to my AA policy but for £118.00 anyone had experience good or bad ? -
Breakdown Cover - Rip-off 19 Feb 2007 (Forum)
As we all know by now, there's absolutely no loyalty in this market. Example: SWMBO has just got a renewal for European breakdown cover with eco-pennant. Allowing for no callout discount it's £121. To get a new quote the website demands your details, so I'm sure if you put them in you'd get the same quote. I just tried with a full set of false details (but ensuring address, mileage, car type and age etc. are near enough identical) and, as a new potential customer - the price £112. -
Breakdown cover for punctures 14 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I own a 7 year old Honda CRZ and when I bought it I paid a rather ludicrous sum to get the manufacturer supplied space saver fittted in the boot well. I don’t have breakdown cover anymore (I had one year as a Honda approved used car) as I thought the car runs with perfect reliability so was ready to chance it. A mate of mine has just posted on Facebook about getting a nail in his tyre on the M25 and as he has a modern Merc with rubber band wheels he had to be recovered off the M25 and then called what turned out to be a good mobile tyre fitter to fit a new tyre. -
Breakdown charges 3 Apr 2014 (Forum)
A few months ago I was involved in a hit and run, the drivers side window shattered whilst I was driving my car, the wing mirror was hit by an oncoming truck. Needless to say I got cuts from the shattered glass. A lady called the police for me and the officer took all the details, contacted my insurance company and breakdown service, Green Flag.
