  The model has been available with a 5-speed Tiptronic transmission since launch early in 2001. But the close-ratio 6-speed manual now allows drivers to make full use of the car's 220bhp and Quattro four wheel drive. Acceleration from zero to 60mph takes just 6.7 seconds and the car tops out at 151mph. Extra urban (cruising) fuel consumption is still a reasonable 35.3mpg. The price is £25,970.

  Sporty 118mph Toyota Yaris 7 Mar 2001 (News)
  Toyota has launched a 1.5 litre 105bhp sporty version of the Yaris dubbed the T Sport. The new car develops 105bhp from its 1,497cc VVT-I engine at 6,000 rpm and 107lb ft (145Nm) torque at 4,200rpm. This gets it from 0 – 60 in just under 9 seconds, takes it on to 118 mph and also allows for an excellent combined fuel consumption figure of 40.9 mpg.

  Record number of visitors flock to 2016 NEC Classic Motor Show 14 Nov 2016 (News)
  Motoring enthusiasts flocked to Birmingham's NEC at the weekend for the traditional season-closing show. Around 71,000 petrolheads made the trip to the UK's largest indoor car show, which is sponsored by Lancaster Insurance. With 2500 classic cars and motorcycles spanning one million square feet, there was plenty to see, ranging from a 1869 Tasker B2 ‘Little Giant’ engine to the enormous Bloodhound SSC show car that welcomed visitors to the hall one.

  More Drivers Sought to Lease Electric MINI 16 Apr 2010 (News)
    People living in a triangular geographical area between Andover, Oxford and West London will be able to take part in the ground-breaking project and so interested drivers are being urged to fill out the online application form at www.electricMINI.co.uk      The Government-backed trial, run by a BMW Group-led consortium including Southern Electric and regional development agency SEEDA, will evaluate the technical and social aspects of living with an all-electric car in every day life.   The drivers chosen will be able to lease the two-seater cars from September 2010 for six months. Southern Electric will install a free home charging point for each car, as well as a network of public charging points, so the cars can be 'topped up' whilst drivers are out and about.

  Healey 100/4 Makes £43,600 at barons 15 Feb 2010 (News)
    Barons made a strong start to 2010 at Sandown Park on February 9th, with the two headline cars both finding new homes. The magnificent Le Mans-specification 1956 Austin Healey sold for £43,600, while the beautiful 1958 Jaguar XK150 drophead coupé achieved £40,250. ‘Really good cars will always find buyers and the Austin Healey could not be faulted.

  Lotus Cortina Makes UK Record Price at Barons Auction 29 Oct 2009 (News)
  It attracted bids from as far away as Australia, before being sold to a British buyer in the hall.The price achieved is a UK auction record for a non-competition MKI and is just £2,000 behind that achieved in 2003 for an ex-factory, Jim Clark owned car. Another car that performed particularly well at this very busy sale was a beautiful 1971 Jaguar E-type S3 roadster, which sold for £39,037, despite having automatic transmission. At the same sale a record-breaking £9,600 was achieved for a quite outstanding 1977 Ford Granada Ghia, while ‘Humphrey’, the Morris Minor Traveller that has starred in the BBC CBeebies television series Gigglebiz sold for £3,356.

  Josh Hill became the third-generation member of the same family to drive the Lola-Ford T90 ‘Red Ball Special’, albeit a recreation of the original car which was destroyed in a last lap accident in the 1967 Indianapolis 500. His grandfather Graham Hill won the 1966 Indy 500 on his maiden visit to The Brickyard, his son and fellow Formula One World Champion Damon piloting this car on several occasions in recent years.
