• renault megane II 1.5 - My windows are broke 12 Jul 2013 (Forum)
  I Know there are a lot of these windows posts on here, but I could not find one, on here or google, that helped me. Me and my girlfriend have just bought a 1.5 Renault Megane Dynamique. It has run into an issue within its first week. From day 2 the front passenger window has played up. It worked at first, then it wouldnt go back up from a partially opened position. Then once it was up we didn't try it for a day.

    Car started fine today but was clear during my journey that something was wrong, firstly it started jerking and no power from turbo.  Ran OK but lacking in power due to no turbo.  Car was running normal before I worked on car and I all I did was clean the lower pipes.  Could it be that the gaskets on these pipes are not now sealing, not sure if this is a factor.  Any help/guidance gratefully received.

  The locks just spring back open. I've moved the car away from bushes as I know cats get under there at night and thought them running under car might be setting it off. I really need an answer as to why its activating and why it wont lock!! my neighbours must be losing patience! Any advice appreciated, it's driving me mad!!

  I know this is a site for those with an interest in cars but…   I currently run a 1996 (P-reg) Sprinter 312. I’ve had it for 5 years and 120k miles (220k miles total) and have been very pleased with it.   I’m now considering changing it but I am concerned that the current models may not be so reliable.

  This sounded a bit odd to me but I'm willing to give it a go. If I start it every morning and evening it starts fine and runs fine; but some times I don't and then it won't start.  Any ideas? TC

  You can feel it through the drivetrain & the transmission does not like it at all. Also does it at other speeds in other gears. The car has just run out of warranty and had it's 30k service by Ford about 6 weeks ago. It was down to half a tank of fuel so - I've just brimmed it with fuel from another garage to see if it was maybe a dodgy batch of fuel - but didn't make any difference at all.
• Peugeot 307 - How easy to change a particle filter 3 Apr 2013 (Forum)
  My car (307HDi 110bhp 2003) had the particle filter changed at 100,000miles, I now have 191,000miles and the "unblock particle filter" and/or "antipollution fault" comes more often. I run it at higher revs to burn it off but getting a clutch smell! I topped up the eolys fluid 6 months ago but the particle filter might have reached its shelf life providing that the liquid is being injectedand notblocked too.

    The gear change from 1st to 2nd in particular is very notchy more so when cold, to me it spoils an otherwise good vehicle.  I have left the issue running for the 16000 miles giving it a chance to wear/bed in but there has ben no noticable difference.  It went to the dealership recently for them to have a look, they agreed it was notchy and the remedy was to grease something, that was 2 weeks ago and the problem is still there, they have been advised.

  The vehicle designer recognised that the power rating of the blower (nearly half horsepower )   was a battery drain and therefore only enabled the fan when engine running. Hence 40 Amp fuse justified.
• iveco daily - spray inside of luton box 9 Mar 2013 (Forum)
  , I just thought I'd spray the 2 box sides and luton overhead bit (inside), to make it look clean ( I run a small removal company). Is this possible as its plastic, and I need something that won't rub off onto whatever I put in the van (furniture etc). Thanks.

  When i looked under the bonnet everything looked fine. have sprayed leads and coil pack plus connections with wd 40. But it still runs lumpy, i have taken the plug leads of 1 by 1 and fitted another spark plug to see if one wasn't sparking, all seem about the same.!! Any advise would be appreciated.
• Citroen C1 - 55 Plate Citroen C3 - radio beeps 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
  I spoke to the local Citroen dealer to ask about obtaining the radio code, but was told that there is no radio code for this (after they checked against the chasis number).  They want £56 to book it in to run a diagnostic on it to determine the problem with additional repair works potentially coming in extra.  I'll pay it if it comes to it, but wanted to find out if anyone has come across a fix for this that doesnt involve codes.
• Ford ranger 2.5td 2000 - Smoke on a 2000 2.5td ranger 19 Jan 2013 (Forum)
  The intercooler was basically swimming. It's done 100,000 miles could it be the seals in the turbo? Also it is running really rich as when revved it smells rich could it be the injectors need re-calibrating or new ones. How would I also know if the diesel pump has been played with? Because the nut/screw on top looks like it has been moved recently!?
• Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe - Engine rattle from cold start 9 Jan 2013 (Forum)
  If the car has stood overnight, it is a bit hard to hear, as the choke takes the revs up so quickly that it masks the sound. If however, you take the car for a run, leave it to stand for an hour or so, and start again, the rattle is very clear. The car has been back to the dealer, but as they didn't keep the car long enough to listen to it after an hour or so, they didn't find anything wrong.

  Daily round trip of 25 miles a day so diesel not overly needed. Needs to be reliable and looking to keep for 4 years. Weekend runs to football with twin 8 year old daughters. What's everyones thoughts? I will be buying one of them tomorrow.

  Had car go into 'limp' mode and dashboard said Engine Systems failure Took it to Ford dealer - they plugged it in and said fault was Throttle Body Assembly so new one was fitted at cost of £384 That was last friday, then today it again went into limp mode same message on dashboard Took it back to Ford dealer who is convinced fault code was right and that the new throttle body fitted was a faulty one. Car now with dealer who is running tests Can anyone suggest waht it may be thats wrong? Car has done 20K only and has been mine since new alaways serviced to schedule

• Honda CRV 2 ltr. petrol - early clutch failure 13 Dec 2012 (Forum)
  I have recently swapped a second car, a 7 year old MX5 with 115,000m. on original clutch. But honda insist its the way I drive. The CRV is mainly used for long runs and I use the cruise control as often as I can also the acel/decel buttons which is the first car I have had this device on. Is there any way that my use or overuse of cc, or any other cause can bring about the early demise of said clutch.

  When you pick the revs up into the normal operating range, the missfire is not noticable and the engine appears to run smoothly enough. It is also a bit troublesome to start, taking more that one attempt and needing the revs to be put on as soon as it fires to stop it cutting out. There is also no smoke (black or white) when the engine is reved.
• Zafira 1.6 design dual fuel 2004 - Dual fuel erratic idle 8 Nov 2012 (Forum)
  I have a zafira with factory fitted dual fuel. Runs perfect on petrol, When changed to gas either auto or manual idle goes haywire. Up amd down till eventually cuts out. Massive flat spot. Already changed gas filter. Code read, no codes present. Took to GM dealers ( gas division) for fault find.
