renault megane II 1.5 - My windows are broke - Displayed

I Know there are a lot of these windows posts on here, but I could not find one, on here or google, that helped me. Me and my girlfriend have just bought a 1.5 Renault Megane Dynamique. It has run into an issue within its first week. From day 2 the front passenger window has played up. It worked at first, then it wouldnt go back up from a partially opened position. Then once it was up we didn't try it for a day. Then it wouldnt go down. These troubles have persisted so far and I was wanting to find out any possible causes before taking it back to the dealer next week.

Thanks for reading and any help.

Did you ever get this sorted?

I had window problems with my Megane Dynamique 1.6. The passenger window died, at first we could open it but it would only close when I set the alarm, then it died completely. It took 9 months to finally get it working although much of this was due to an awful dealer. It's still not right 2 years on.

Just one of the many electrical faults on the Megane. Worst car I've ever had.

Just for the record, as I'm sure it's been answered before, this is a very, very, very common fault with Renault Megane IIs.

The fault lies with the electronic control module that sits on top of each window motor within the door. Water gets into the door cavity, onto the module, the module is not water tight and, get enough water (i.e. the persistent rains we've had in the UK over the last couple of years) and the module fries.

It is almost certainly NOT the motor itself as these don't typically fail.

The solution is to strip the door card off the door to get at the module, unscrew/unclip the module and send it to a refurbisher who will fix it for about £30 and send it back to you.

This in itself is a fairly laborious task but with patience is doable with a set of Torx drivers and a couple of other basic tools. The only tool I had to actually buy was an M8 Torx driver as this is smaller than you get in most sets.

Instructions can be found on YouTube and have a look on ebay for suppliers, I used qer_ltd based in cumbria.

It is now all fixed and works perfectly.
