Mondeo front wing removal 10 Oct 2002 (Forum)
It appears to be of the bolt on type but my Haynes manual does not give the procedure for doing this. Unfortunately I managed to scrape the gate reversing out of my drive and its dented quite badly...so I think the only option is to replace the whole wing...thanks :o) -
Beam Deflectors 30 Aug 2002 (Forum)
Having recently acquired a 95 Honda Civic, I need to fit beam deflectors before driving in France. The headlight glass has a (polycarbonate?) cover about an inch in front of the lens, so the deflector can't be positioned accurately. Has anyone a solution? Or do I (as suggested by HJ)just leave the beam adjusted to its lowest position and forget about the deflector? -
noisy kseries engine 24 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I have a rover 416 with 62000 miles on and which sounds quite noisy when driving as if it has piston slap.. I'm sure it hasn't got a worn engine but you never know. Other minor problems are that it holds its revs between gear changes and runs quite rough when the choke is on but sweet once warm. -
Citroen Xsara Performance 'Dip' 2 Jul 2002 (Forum)
Hi all, Hopefully someone has experienced this problem and can help me out. When driving along as normal, everything is fine until I lift my foot of the acc. there is a momentary lull in performance, almost as if I have dabbed the brakes. This happens in all gears and tends to be somewhere between 2000-3000 revs. -
309 foglights + noise 28 Apr 2002 (Forum)
My 309 GLX came with driving lights as standard but they were removed for some reason by the previous owner. Are they easy to fit? Do I need the official Peugeot lights? Is it worth paying a local garage or should I just do it myself? -
309 vs Astra vs ZX 10 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Shortlist - 309/205 (very impressed on test drive) - Astra (ditto but reliability...?) - ZX (again I like it but reliability and poor fuel economy?) At the moment I am keen to find a 1.4/1.6 309 but where the hell can I find one? -
quality car for semi retired 17 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Hi Can anyone recommend a quality car for someone who is semi retired that wishes to indulge himself in a bit of second hand luxury :-) I am over 50 and drive infrequently (Shops or the odd run from Cornwall to Kent) Big cars are preferred but my knowledge of BMW's etc is slim. Comments welcome. Budget £10000 Thanks Neil -
Automatics 30 Jan 2002 (Forum)
What I'd like to know is.... Should I put it in Neutral while at red lights and so on or should I just leave in drive? Which causes more wear, the shifting in and out or the holding on the bite point? With thanks upfront Robert -
Stress free DIY servicing 27 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I'd love to get started but have distant but disturbing memeories of attempting this when younger. Oil on the drive, skinned knuckles etc are things that have reluctantly pushed a basic service the way of the local garage. Is there a duffers website somewhere? -
Hit-and-run Drivers 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Saw a program on the box a few nights ago about the escalating numbers of accidents where the driver involved simply drove off, leaving the unfortunate pedestrian dead or severely injured. A senior policeman interviewed said that anyone driving without a licence, insurance or MOT should have their car confiscated an crushed. That, to me, sounds like a damn good idea. Comments? Andy -
Mondeo T-Diesel ..MOT Failure 3 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Hi My 1989 18 Mondeo Turbo Diesel has failed the "Exhaust Analyzer" test for it`s MOT. I`ve been told to take it on a long run , driving it at high revs to "clear the exhaust out". I understand the reasoning behind this , but should I be trying/changing/adjusting anything else to get it to pass? Thanks Chas -

Rolling road setup 26 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Hi again folks, Does anyone know of a rolling road setup in West Yorkshire where I can get my 2.5 Mondeo sorted out? The poor fueling is driving me crazy, when I take my foot of the go pedal it contiues to rev for about 5 seconds before slowly reducing to "normal". Thanks in advance. Bill -
high driver position 26 May 2001 (Forum)
Does anyone have any suggestions for what my husband should buy? Criteria, higher driver position (as in a Discovery etc. but not 4 wheel drive), economical - probably diesel but with some oomph. He's looked at a couple of MPVs but there are only 2 of us so we don't need 7 seats. Any ideas would be very welcome. Regards Teresa -
Licence Codes 19 Mar 2001 (Forum)
I passed my driving test in August of last year, and on my photocard I have to code 115 which I know means organ donor. I was looking at a friends photocard licence today and noticed that she had 122 written on the back of the photocard as well as 122. -
My Recent Driving Trip to France 17 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Just back from an eventful driving holiday in France and thought I would share some observations, experiences etc. This is probably my 5th or 6th driving holiday to France and, being brutally honest, most of the enjoyment of France itself is rapidly diminishing. -
Bad overtake? 6 Oct 2010 (Forum)
What do people think? Was the police officer right? Surely it's a simple case of the other person driving dangerously? -
Letter from the Colonies 5 Dec 2004 (Forum)
What I am looking forward to less is the getting around bit. They say comparisons are odious. Well I\'m going to make some, and indeed they are odious. Driving myself in UK is no longer an option. I find it very scary and extremely stressful. Since the early 90\'s a sheer rudeness and aggression and disregard for others has emerged in the way people drive. -
Lexus LS, Lexus RX450h - I tried LS500h and RX450h, here's what happened 30 May 2023 (Forum)
As we came around back to the dealership, we decided to go for one more trip round the path that the dealer had recommended. In short, it was a fun test drive. The storage around the seats is plenty in LS, but the boot space is exactly as much in my GS and I knew that going to take the test drive. Overall, summarizing how I felt at the end of the test drive: RX450h is a perfectly satisfactory vehicle that I can see us using every day and be perfectly content with.
