April Figures Show Winners and Losers 10 May 2001 (News)
Manufacturers and importers who have seen significant sales increases this year to date include: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chrysler, Citroen, FIAT, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Porsche, Proton, Renault, SAAB, SEAT, Skoda, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The biggest sales increase was by Citroen, up from 25,821 in the first four months of last year to 42,741 in the first four months of this year. Biggest falls were by Daewoo, down from 13,554 to 6,574; MG Rover, down from 49,204 to 33,051 and Mazda, down from 8,247 to 4,574. -

E-types are top sellers at British Heritage auction 19 Jun 2018 (News)
A 1997 BMW Z3 1.9-litre made £1100 – although it was a four-pot with eight owners and limited service history. And tidy but useable Mk3 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet made £350 – a perfect summer bargain. As was the 1998 Ford Scorpio 24v Cosworth – fully loaded but with tired paint, it will make someone an excellent everyday hack, if they can afford the fuel. -
VW Type 2 Samba sells for £67,500 22 Feb 2015 (News)
Recent history shows a 1967 VW Type 2 21 window bus was sold for $112,000 by Barratt-jackson at Scotsdale, Arizona on 16th January 2015. Another, a 1964, sold for $115,000. A 1967 Volkswagen Splitscreen Camper that used to belong to American blues singer-songwriter Seasick Steve sold for £29,500 at Coys' Autosport auction on 10 January. On 4th December 2014, a very nice LHD 1966 Type 2 21 window splittie was sold by BCA in a van auction for £38,100. -

This one has the 80PS 1,679cc Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection (like my mate’s car), but the model was the last new air cooled rear engined VW before the K70 and the Mk 1 Golf took Volkswagen into front wheel drive. -

PSA completes deal for Vauxhall and Opel 1 Aug 2017 (News)
France’s PSA group – which owns Peugeot and Citroen – has completed its acquisition of Opel and Vauxhall from General Motors. The deal makes PSA Europe’s second largest vehicle manufacturer, behind Volkswagen group. The reported £2 billion buyout of General Motor’s loss-making European division gives PSA a 17 per cent market share of the EU car market. Michael Lohscheller has been appointed CEO of both Opel and Vauxhall and will present a detailed strategic plan within 100 days. -
Renault "shocked" at emissions fraud allegations 17 Mar 2017 (News)
. Renault's offices and technical research buildings were raided by police in January 2016 as part of an investigation into the Volkswagen Emissions Scandal. The French carmaker said: "Renault has acknowledged the publication of an unbalanced national newspaper article related to the "emission" case. This article alleges to quote selected excerpts from a report drafted by the DGCCRF. -

Young people take on ten week MG Midget restoration challenge 15 Dec 2014 (News)

Auto Retail Network names the best and worst car manufacturer websites 18 Nov 2014 (News)
Second place went to Renault, rated 78 per cent. Special praise was given for the website’s service booking tools. Close behind was Volkswagen, which was the best rated site in the 2013 rankings. The site was praised for its user-friendly and detailed new car content, but the configurator was criticised for its performance. Nissan and Honda took the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. -
Vauxhall Viva to ride again 10 Sep 2014 (News)
Priced at under £7000, the five-door Viva will replace the Agila and rival the Hyundai i10 and the Volkswagen Up! on the forecourts. With sister-brand Chevrolet no longer in the UK, GM-owned Vauxhall will be expected to fight for sales in this rapidly growing sector. We’re told the new Viva will be well-specified and, like its Adam stablemate, come in a wide range of colours and trims. -

A 1996 Volkswagen Golf GTI Anniversary – one of just 1000 made – fetched £1750. The one-owner car had 109,000 miles on the clock and came with every MoT since new. With prices for MkIIs on the rise, it surely can’t belong before MkIII values follow.
