  Check the bodywork carefully for any scratching or poorly finished paintwork. A 2018 recall relating to the automatic transmission relating to early models from September 2011 through to March 2012 noted the gearbox may receive an incorrect signal, changing from sixth to first. If you buy an early automatic, make sure this has been investigated.  CV joints are a known to fail, so check for any knocking or rattling when driving, and get underneath and have a look at the condition of the covers.   Euro6 models from 2016 onwards may have problems with their selective catalytic reduction system, which results in excessive consumption of AdBlue.

But it’s questionable why Citroen saw fit to reserve three year-old 06 reg C1 Rhythm 5-drs with 6k to 10k miles at something like £5,400 when anyone can have a new Vibe 3-dr for £5,450.

The fault may be nothing more than a duff solenoid in the valve block, but don't waste time with a £200 job when there is much more profit to be gained from fitting a new autobox at £1,750 plus.

  You’ll need either the 16-digit reference number from your vehicle tax renewal letter (V11) or the 11-digit reference number from your V5C. If you fail to declare SORN when necessary, you may be liable to an automatic £80 fine and have to pay any VED that would normally have been due. An important (and welcome) change was introduced in 2013, however, which now means that a SORN declaration lasts indefinitely, with no need for an annual renewal; once you’re ready to tax your vehicle again, you simply do so in the usual way.

  The metallic grey 1984 recently emerged after 16 years in a barn so should be relatively rot free. The 1987E in white has just 59,000 miles and has been converted to automatic transmission that might be a bit easier on the vulnerable rear axle. Each were estimated at £4,500-£5,500. Neither of the Capri 2.8is were sold. Peugeot 205GTIs had been rising rapidly and though this 1991J 1.9 has a sunroof, which makes it less desirable for track days, it’s still a fun drive and we thought likely to appreciate.
