Is it me or is it the car ? 14 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I havent noticed the same problem with right hand turning eg roundabouts and I am starting to loose confidence in this 'ultimate driving machine'. I am not doing anything that my 1.8t Golf Gti wasnt more than capable of and I'm not being stupid - maybe enthusiastic ! Car: BMW120d, RWD, Sports suspension, Run flat tyres. It occurs to me I am now driving a RWD car with a heavier engine upfront along with run flat tyres which, to use a racing analogy feel like a very hard compound. -
Doctors Dilemma 27 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I wonder how many people, particularly those whose ability is deteriorating with age are continuing to drive knowing full well they shouldn't? -
Putting things into perspective ! 7 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Some people have no choice in the matter and their fate is in the hands of others. Think on everyone. Drive safely, love your families/children and be considerate to others at all times. -
Fuel Consumption Peugeot 307 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
If I drive generally at 60-65 and never go above 70mph I just about achieve 48-49mpg. I have not been using cruise control. I don\'t think it\'s my driving - my previous car was a 306 DT and that achieved 50 mpg and their extra urban claim was 54 mpg. -
Low Fuel Consumption 29 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I have been keeping a check on the fuel consumption. I am doing between 32 and 35 mpg. Its a 1.4 CL 4 Speed. I drive about 20 miles a day (in and out of work), most of which is on dual carridge way, some of which is up hill. don't drive it that hard, but I don't hang around if you get what I mean. Is the fuel consumption normal? -
Audi 80 TDi-electronic probs 19 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I was due to part exchange the car on Monday so I went away for the weekend thinking it would be our last drive together. 145K and I have never had any problems with her - FASH etc. Typically, when I was away she decided to rev to 2100rpm and then cough and splutter like she wasn't getting enough fuel (I had to drive from devon to Reading at 55mph!) -
Volvo test drive 20 May 2003 (Forum)
Hi all - I'm off to a test drive an M regn. Volvo 960 3.0CD estate later this week. Apparently it's mint (they all say that don't they), has a full Volvo service history and has done 85k. Dark plum with beige leather interior, sounds nice. -
Being a passenger in a badly driven car 14 May 2003 (Forum)
How many of you are brave enough to comment on other peoples poor driving while in the passenger seat ? Whether its loved ones, friends or just someone test driving your car its so difficult to say 'your a bit close to the car in front' or 'this is a sharp bend ahead, slow down'. -
Astra Drive Belt - Fitting Problems? 22 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Hello, thanks to HJ's wisdom and Volvoman's brute strength, I have located the broken drive belt on my Astra 1.7d, and bought another one. Apparently it's quite easy to fit - Volvoman's words not mine. But I need a little advice before attempting this. Under the bonnet, there's 2 sort of pulley things that it looks like the belt should go on. -
(Extreme) Cold Weather Driving in the UK 21 Dec 2001 (Forum)
m planning to do London to Inverness in my trusty Xantia TD Estate(M1-M6-A74-M80-A9) over the coming weekend and it may involve some night driving, but the weather forecast is giving me serious doubts about it .... I know that countries that experience extreme winter climates such as Northern Europe and Northern North America are more geared up for travelling in sub-zero conditions. -
Death by Dangerous Driving 3 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I am surprised that no one else has mentioned it here, so here goes. The chap who is up for causing death by dangerous driving, as far as I understand, was deprived of sleep, which lead to him falling asleep at the wheel. How many of us, hand on heart, can honestly say that we haven't ever driven when we think we shouldn't be (either extremely tired or otherwise). -

Why do you run so many cars? 5 Oct 2004 (Forum)
But for the reasons outlined below it would be difficult. Me - for pleasure - needs to fit 4 people, plenty of space, safe to drive and manual 4 x 4 is preferable as I do plenty of rural driving, and tow heavily laden trailers. The wife - needs the exact opposite (typical!). Won't drive it if she has to think of changing gears, and it needs to be small. -
