    So the question is , Is she allowed to drive the car under the old MOT?   I say No...     On another note The car was booked in for a MOT/Service at 9am at a major Garage/tyre retailer and the car was supposed to be ready for 12pm , But informed that due to staff shortage , the car would be ready at 3pm...

  The only reason for accepting the car back was that the car was 7 months old and I had been driving a courtesy car (not the same model as the car I had purchased) for almost three months of this time.   My local garage (also a main dealer, however different company) have provided a quotation, as requested by the original dealer, to undertake the works.

  My main requirements were: rear leg room at least as good as the B for an ever growing daughter and her posse of mates, good load space for sports gear and camping trips, as my mileage is now less than 10,000 a year a petrol, mpg no worse than the B class, about a year old. I considered a few options. New B class was an obvious starting point, but the interior and that silly screen which looks like an afterthought was off putting. The VAG group cars with the 1.4TSi.

• Any - Tyre tread depth needed in Germany 12 May 2025 (Forum)
  I would normally change them at 2mm, but doing that might risk them being at 3mm while I am in Germany. Does anyone know a documented statement that driving on 3mm ir less is enforced? Fyi car is a 3series touring RWD, and the rears always wear faster than the fronts. Unfortunately they are a different size so I cannot swap fronts to rears. Thanks Sparrow
• Vauxhall Corsa - Connecting Rod in engine -‘69 Vauxhall Corsa 7 May 2025 (Forum)
  Basically it’s a new engine… if I can find anyone to do it. Now my questions are: -should a connecting rod go on a 5 year old car? -should the garage have picked anything up on the service/mot back in March? They did write on the paperwork whining noise heard - suspect auxiliary belt pulley. Needs further investigation. They didn’t tell me this just wrote it on the MOT paperwork and handed it back to me.

  Been pondering fitting a ten panel solar array plus battery system at the old ponderosa. Lowest price I’ve got to date with a 5kwh battery is £10,995, or £12,500 with 10kwh battery. The estimate savings are around £900 a year which means the system will take over 14yrs to pay for itself on the assumption that I use the subsidised 0% mortgage for renewables/insulation offered by my building society which gives you 5yrs interest free, then switches to the svr.

  I bet I'll get loads of replies say why I am thinking of replacing what many say is a brilliant car/engine ! I have a 2005 Passat PD100 estate, 120k miles, only cost me £1200. The boot is massive and great for our two dogs and carrying stuff. Had it about 18months. Never failed me but my wife is a bit fed up with the strong old diesel engine smell on idle, the lots of little things that are going wrong (central locking, cd/radio, rust on wings, lack of heated seats , cloth seats (which is a pain with the dogs) .

  It's been parked outside my house for at least 4 years (except when I use it !!). Just over 70 years old, retired, 5000 miles pa, insured by Aviva for at least 7 years now. No claims bonus stretching back to 1997. Clean licence until 3 points last year for 24mph in 20 limit. Its renewal time and Aviva write: " We're sorry to inform you that due to our underwriting rules, we are unable to offer you a renewal quote for car XYX 123 this year.

  I had a scary experience last weekend. I had just joined a motorway when my three-year-old car with 30,000 miles on the clock started to jump from one gear to another without warning. My dashboard told me it was in 5th gear then 2nd, then to 6th and back to 3rd. Luckily there was a nearby exit slip road and I managed to get to the hard shoulder.
• Peugot 207 - Is it OK to mix OW-30 and 5W-30 oils? 17 May 2024 (Forum)
  Bought a old Peugot 207 a few months ago. It's showing the low oil light when I start it. Had a check using the dipstick and the level looks OK, but the dipstick isn't 'holding' very much oil when I pull it out, so might not be accurate.
• Advice for fixing a dent and crack 12 Feb 2024 (Forum)
  Hi, My Suzuki Swift has a dent and some cracks on the rear passenger side wheel arch. The repair quotes I got ranged from £400 to £1000, which is way too much for an old car like this. I want to cover up the dent and cracks as best as I can, just for my own satisfaction. I have taped it up to hide it, but it looks terrible and I hate looking at it. I have no idea how to fix the dent myself or take off the bumper.

  I have a strange problem with a Crossland which I bought 6 months ago it is a one year old car. On two occasions, I believed I had pushed the gear into first but it shot back. I was totally confused and didn't know how this has happened as I was sure I didn't lift the ring on the gear stick to engage reverse which is left to first.
• Hyundai i10 mark II - i10 Rear Discs corroded 19 Mar 2020 (Forum)
  Within the first two years the rear pads were binding and were sorted out under warranty. I took the car back in to have them checked later in the first two years noting the "achilles heal" comment about the i10, but I was too early & the garage advised the wheels weren't binding. Now at 2 1/2 years old it has badly corroded rear discs.

  Hello, please can you help? Wifes car. Owned from 6 months old. 100k miles. Has been stone reliable, except when a main dealership damaged the fuel pressure sensor on a major service. I do annual oil and filter changes etc. I renewed both banks of spark plugs two years ago (Back 4 looked like they had never been changed !).

  My VW Up is six years old with 130,000 miles on the clock, so I am soon to replace it before it starts playing up. Obviously it could go on for years without issues, but I don’t want the worry. I’ve had cars before that cost a fortune once the mileage rose.

  v=PRSoRkM8GcM You may find that some of the materials needed for both (especially the light lens restoration) may not be as easily available or as cheap in the UK as in the US, but the old interweb (after some research) may be the way to go if its still easier and cheaper than just getting AN Other to do the job professionally.

• Ford Fiesta flight 1.3 2002 3d - hot air overheats only after engine restart 10 Sep 2016 (Forum)
  the hot air on my old fiesta overheats dramatically if I stop and restart my engine I can drive 10 or 100 miles and cool air is no problem. If I stop and restart air blows roastingly hot regardless of settings. Even with the blowers off hot air passively fills the car.

  I recently has a break down with my car due to the automatic gear box packing up. It is a 2008 diesel  model The vehicle has been serviced regularly with the dealer and suddenly the automatic transmission stalled after doing about 40,000 miles and on the overall has run up a mileage of 87,000miles.
