  • scenic II 1.5 dci - few problems including injection fault 7 May 2015 (Forum)
I noticed that the panel under the armrest panel stuck. It won't move anymore. My scenic came back from renault garage in September and haven't tried to move the panel until few days ago. Any ideas?   4) Not a problem, just a question. According to tables, fuel consumption for 1.5dci is 4.4 extra-urban.

  • Looking for a new motor - feedback welcome 22 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Honda Civic - (older shape) seem reliable but HJ didn't seem to rate them that highly? Also apparently prone to rust, which I'm keen to avoid. Peugeot/Renault - would not touch with a 10 foot pole, seem to have far too many faults. Corsa 1.3 CDTI - boot maybe a bit small and a bit dull inside. Also common as muck. Astra - really doesn't appeal. I drive an 05 plate 1.7 diesel at work and don't like it.
  • SEAT Altea (2004 - ) - Altea in Provence (Road Test) 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I was quite curious as to what I would get, suspecting it might be a Kangoo, since it was not much more expensive than the cheapest category, and Europcar normally seems to give out Renaults - so I was a little surprised to get an Altea. Does anyone have any idea what Europcar in France usually give out in this category? (Oh, and I did see a couple of Citroen C6's on the move - and the same number of DS's.)
  • What do you recommend as a very comfortable, roomy, economical, safe and reliable car? 18 Dec 2023 (Ask HJ)

  • Three more test drives - Lexus, Peugeot and Skoda 27 Jul 2020 (Forum)
My overriding feeling is that the forthcoming Octavia PHEV will be a very strong contender; as is the Ford Kuga which i tried a few weeks ago. Hopefully this, and PHEV versions of the BMW X1 and Renault Captur, will be with us later this year.  I'm sure people will point out any obvious contenders that I'm missing.

  • My engine needs replaced - is the garage that changed the timing belt, but not water pump, at fault? 23 May 2017 (Ask HJ)

  • VW Passat/ Skoda Superb - VW 1.6 and 2.0 TDI Reliability? 9 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Checked Nissan Qashqai, but feel a bit cheap (i have tried previous model, and not impressed at all). Also i saw Renault Kadjar.. I didnt know that is highest level of equpment and look nice, except the price (30000 eur), and when i checked more base version, very cheap looking inside.   Anyway, in this moment the best offer it is from Volkswagen and Skoda.
  • Buying 2nd hand - Overpriced dealers or is it me? 5 Nov 2010 (Forum)
has loads of very reasonable/cheap priced low mileage cars - I phoned them, NONE have any history! How dodgy does this sound?! EG Renault Laguna tourer DCi, 54 plate, 60,000 miles = £1695. "I'm sorry Sir, the car has no history with it, but the mileage is genuine....." Yeah right on mate...Am I being rightly cynical, or unrealistic in my expectations?!
  • Pay up or involve insurance? 29 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Coughing up for a repair bill or coughing up more for insurance. I've been trying to get through to the local Renault garage to get a ball park figure of how much it would cost to replace a Laguna bumper panel but the desk was constantly busy and I can't get a hold of anyone. Help? Anyone got any advice please?
  • My Recent Driving Trip to France 17 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Also thanks to all the hospital staff at Compiegne who were absolutely magnificent. Compliments must also go to Renault for building such a strong car, it was the new shape Scenic so possibly 5* NCAP rating but I am not sure if rollover tests are done but that certainly held strong. I personally believe that perhaps they were fortunate that the car rolled and took some ?

  • New car - making a shortlist 28 Feb 2016 (Forum)
But the steering seems curiously remote from the car as a whole.  Good acceleration from the 1.6 pwetrol turbo but no fun to drive. Renault Kadjar     I haven't tried one but the only petrol engine is a 1.2 and the top 1.6 diesel has only 130 bhp.  Not a ball olf fire, I suspect. Subaru Forester    I will be trying the XT Turbo: I'm no environmental freak but emissions of 197 g/km are a bit much even for me.
  • Saab - Time running out to buy one of the last 21 Mar 2013 (Forum)
New 1 hour 24 min ago Shame that SAAB went under, they have the Swedish cool Volvo could never have. Would prefer to see Renault or Peugeot (I like Citroen) go under rather than SAAB, but who knows, maybe now they are in bed with GM they could be next! reply Flag as offensive Nissan X-Trail (2007 - ) - J D power 2009 xtrail 14 Jun 2009 (Forum)
But i appreciate that many did have problems, so the xtrail was never in the top 5. Prior to that with my two primeras, i never saw a oil leak! Now the new x trail has a renault engine, and to be honest i would prefer nothing French, having said that the 171bhp dci i have is a peach, constantly getting over 40mpg. Further i have had absolutely no problems, no recalls, the car has performed brilliantly, my wife loves it more than the old one!
