Advice re:buying Xantia TDi VSX 24 Nov 2003 (Forum)
In the photo of the car it looks like it isn't the updated model as I saw an S-reg car was. Is this strange, or is it possible 1998 model could still be the old shape before the update? PS. Where is the best place to buy those aftermarket reversing sensors that you can retro-fit to any car? -

Come back when youre intersted in buying a car and with that he walked off the forecourt. I went in to the Showroom and spoke to the business manager, who's response was 'Thats his job - he sells cars' I have to grow old - but I don't have to grow up -
JD Power Survey significance 16 Aug 2002 (Forum)
A wide spread on a small sample (10 cars) is statistically less significant that a wide spread on a large sample (1000 cars). Similarly a lot of bad results from a car with small sales is much more significant than a lot of bad results from a car with huge sales. -
Hyundai Bayon - New car misfuel advice 16 Mar 2024 (Forum)
The Repairing dealer said there was something not right with the engine and they'd never seen anything quite like it before, almost as if somebody had tried to remove some fuel from the engine, I'm not engine savvy, so I dint really know what he was on about. I'm thinking of rejecting the car as i haven't even had it for 2 weeks yet, not sure where i stand legally. Currently I have a 2 week old car that has lost its fuel system warranty, a £1,000 repair bill and I'm not a happy bunny! -
Toyota RAV4 or Kia Sportage? 13 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Hello. We are considering upsizing our current car to an SUV and have narrowed down the choices to 2 we like. We need a bigger car and an SUV is what we want. First one is a Toyota RAV4 (2020) Hybrid with 10k miles. We both love the car but are hesitating as it's more expensive than the 2nd option and it's a hybrid which we have never had before. -
Citroen C3 Picasso - P0087 c3 picasso advice please 11 May 2019 (Forum)
Called again to say part looked contaminated and new recommended. I agreed but following day they called to say new part fitted but car will not start, Fitted old regulator and still not starting to they told me the fault was a failing hp pump. Had exchange pump fitted as had little choice at this point to get car back. They did offer to fit timing belt for cost at same time as car was stripped down so far. -
Nissan Xtrail 2017 - Ex rental purchase 27 Jul 2018 (Forum)
The car wasn’t priced particularly low, but did show some signs of more wear and tear than I’d expect on a vehicle of this age. We travelled 3 hours to collect the car, so it’s not easy to return to the dealers in question. -

Kia Carens CRDi Auto - Used Car Question - Kia Carens vs Zafira 31 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Hi All, First time poster on the look out for some information in buying a used car. I was looking to buy a used 7- seater car but am on a Budget of upto 5000 GBP and didnt want to go for a car over 6 years old; At this price the only 2 options seem to come up 1. Kia Carens 2. Vauxhall Zafia While i was initially looking at the Zafira and have found a model 2009 Exlusiv 1.6 Petrol thats has 56K miles on it ; recenly i have found a listing for a 2010 Kia Carens Diesel Automatic that run around 30K miles and seems to be an interesting choice As i have never owned a diesel before ; to help make my decision i wanted to get some feedback from experienced folks here as to - Servicing and Manitainence costs for the Kia Diesel Auto vs Zafira Petrol Manual - As the mileage on the Kia is low would that usually give me a trouble free ride as compared to the zafira ? -
Toyota Carina E - maintenance and accessories 14 Mar 2014 (Forum)
hi to all, I have just purchased my grandads car for £300 it has 70,000 miles on it and is a toyota carina e 1.8 cdx on an N reg. it has been sat for 2 years my grandad lives in thailand so it hasnt been touched. sorned obvioulsy and mot expired. charged the battery overnight and ticked it over for ten minutes on my dads advice. started first time. i have not moved it or taken the wheels off so i am unsure if the brakes are ceased hopefully not they should just be sticky. it has been 2 years. a taxi driver told me i should check the clutch not sure how to do this. to my knowledge everything works except the radio/cd. which i can replace. was considering putting in a k&n air filter is this worthwhile. any advice other than try not wrapping it round a tree will be appreciated with thanks. i have read that castrol sms is the best for gearbox oil change which i happily take on board. will consider worthwhil modifications if its worth it for the car. i havent driven for 5 years and the car is 18 yrs old. i would imagine there are things on the market i do not know about and i would imagine there to be technology improvements in 20 yrs since the car was manufactured. i read that platinum spark plugs is an option but as far as i know this car has had bosch. -
Swapping S-Max for Kia Sorento 16 Jan 2014 (Forum)
The S-Max will be five years old in June and I will have owned it for 4 years by then, having driven about 40,000 miles. I love the car, but I am getting itchy feet. I think we still need a car which has seven seats. -
Small claims for engine damage indicated by oil burn? 16 May 2013 (Forum)
[The car also has diverse other problems which I consider to be less serious and within expectations for a 7-year-old car... but I don't think the engine wear is normal or acceptable.] So I have written to the dealer requesting full refund. -
2001 Mini One 2005 Ford Focus - Used car purchase Mini V Focus 10 May 2012 (Forum)
I guess the one thing as well going in the mini's favour is the fact I can take the £500 quid and put it in a savings account for any rainy days! I wouldn't normally consider a 10 year old car but the milage is so low (and genuine). Any thoughts? Many thanks -

citroen c3 2003 1.4 16v - c3 hdi starting problem 19 Nov 2011 (Forum)
The injectors were second hand but had only done 140miles before the owner wrote his car off, and looking at the part i can believe it, they look as if they just been bought from a dealer, because the inj were programmed into the previous car would this effect mine?. i have checked the flow to the injectors and its getting to them fine, i have disconnected the fuel return pipes and had someone to turn the car over but no excess fuel is coming out of it. -

Vauxhall Astra - Are vauxhall liable - camshaft related 17 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I had been told the previous day by customer service they it was full repair therefore I should have been given car hire.... when i rang on thursday no one knew anything about that... surprise surprise and that head office had refused my car hire.... Granted by car is nearly 6 years old, with only 55,000 miles therefore camshaft should not have snapped and this is clearly due to the manufactoring... -

Renault Clio Diesel 1.5Dci 'Y' Reg - Renault Clio Not firing up; oil can warning light 9 Nov 2010 (Forum)
I turn the ignition and i get the red 'oil can' light and then sometimes the red 'stop water tap' sign. When attempting to start the car the ignition hits for about 3 seconds and cuts out.... this is the case for around 3/4 tries and then the warning lights don't apear and the car fires up straight away..... .....yesterday i couldn't get the car to start for around 3/4 mins - everytime i turned the ignition on the oil can appears and i get nothing when i try to start.... eventually it kicks in the warning lights disappear but a few miles down the raod the power to the engine simply cuts and i have to pull over.... restart the car and it works fine..... -
Audi A3 + S3 - Dealership servicing - Sump threads stripped. 2 Apr 2010 (Forum)
the service rep on the phone asked if anyone else had carried out work on the car (guess he's looking to pass the buck) but i replied only your dealership has ever carried out servicing. i'd expect the highly trained audi professionals to not screw up a simple oil change! the car is 7 years old and this is the fifth time the sump plug has been out (i have all the service receipts) and the last time it was out was at the same dealership so i assume it was their previous service technician that crossthreaded the plug in and decided not to use his integrity and report it!
