  I see in today`s telegraph that the Ford Ka has been having problems with spark plugs seizing and shearing off in the cylinder heads. As my daughter is taking delivery of one soon, I was wodering if any of you tech-heads know of any product on the market to prevent this happening.

  After driving for a bit longer and listening to the suspect throbbing sound coming form what i thought was the bearing i have now realised it sound s as if it is actually coming from the Joint that drives the front wheel (CV joint?) a mate has told me that if it has gone it will knock when on full lock but it dosnt, so any ideas what it could be boys?

  Having a problem with an "S" reg MGF When the engine is warm and you're idling in traffic, the coolant is being forced out of the expansion chamber. The car isn't overheating because the it doesn't feel too hot and the fan isn't coming on.

  Has anybody got any first hand experience of the most suitable tyres for the above. I have been running on Goodyear Eagle NCT 5`s(205 50 17W), but have been most unhappy with the handling- above 90 m.p.h. the steering becomes very light, vague and lacking grip, which has spoilt my enjoyment of the vehicle. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

  Hi all, A local pothole has just claimed my two alloy n/s wheels. They have buckles and need to be replaced. My local tyre dealer tells me that its quite common and that many people claim against the council - with some success. Has anyone ever done this - or is it an urban myth?

  I am notlooking for something exotic just decent grip in the wet which I am not getting with the cheapies I have at the moment, although they actualy last longer than the well known brands Ive had before. Also is it possible on the existing rims to go up to 155x13 which many 309's have, and is it sensible. Thanks Alan.

  Having just had starting problems with my 15 month old diesel zafira (injector seal) S&it happens but this was nicely deoderised by the local dealer f.o.c. and a car for the day. However whilst the problem was ongoing, my German colleagues recommended mixing petrol with diesel fuel in a 2 to 30 litre ratio. and claimed that this was the special winter additive by the fuel companies.

  HJ says that a (S) reg daewoo nubira cdxi auto with 20000 miles went for £3900 (and i think that excludes commission), but you can buy cars cheaper than that up here, a place in durham called 'stoneacre' has a (V) reg daewoo nubira cdxi auto, with 14000 miles, for only £4195, and you also get a free washing machine or 21inch TV.

  Idly looking through autotrader magazine last week trying to imagine what it would be like to buy from the Sports section rather than the Estates/People carrier section. Noticed that all the Peugeot 306 GTI-6's were advertised as being "delocked". What exactly does this mean? This is for purely academic interest, as a 3-door hot hatch doesn't have the boot space for 2 travel cots.

  Here in Northampton diesel is now a jaw dropping 7p a litre (76.9 plays 69.9) more than standard unleaded. Petrol has fallen while deisel still at summer levels. That s over 30p a gallon in old money. Is this true nationally and is anyone aware of a public explanation from the oil companies?. Off to France next week, interesting to see if hypermarket prices there are still at the same 4.90 litre as in the summer.

  After the failure of the PTV to attract, as discussed on a previous thread, I'm now helping a customer look for a proper people carrier (S/H and Diesel). I'm guiding them to a Synergie because of the Citroen connection but what about the "clones"? Are the Peugeot 806 and Fiat Ulysee exactly the same for image and reliability? I have some ideas on this but would be interested to hear views from owners and car park image watchers!

  My girlfriend's 97 Clio has had 2 new wheel bearings fail on O/S front and is on its third in 8 months, has anyone else had similar problems? They've all been replaced and work carried out under guarantee so it hasn't cost us anything since the original bearing was replaced back in February.
