Electric scooter 24 May 2019 (Forum)
The Chinese-made Ego Street Scoota will let you zip around the city using bus lanes, avoiding congestion charges and cutting out queues, all without buying petrol or paying for road tax. Powered by an onboard battery that's recharged via the mains, it boasts a range of up to 40 miles with a top speed of 30mph and it the claim is that it only costs 8 pence to charge (8 hours needed for a full juice up) and of course, is super eco-friendly. -
SEAT Toledo - Strange Electrical Problem 1.6 TDI 11 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Hi, for the past few weeks, my car has developed a strange power issue which I can't figure out. The car is serviced annually, currently has around 55k on the clock and had a new battery around 6 months ago as the old one simply gave up and refused to charge. The problem... The car will start fine but while the engine is running (it can be under load or idling) I can hear a "click" sound and at the same time, all the electrics loose power for a split second and very shortly afterwards, if the engine is idling, the rpm will drop by around 200 again, just for a split second. -
Any electric car or plug in hybrid - Electric or Hybrid cars - no electrical specs? 1 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I could get 2000 mpg, which is a meaningless figure on its own unless you are also told that it used 1500 kWh of electricity during the same time, and how much did that cost? I want to see more details about the voltage and size of the battery, motor power, electrical control refinements etc. Motoring journalists need to learn about the technical side of electric vehicles and start reporting some more electrical hard facts instead of only going on and on about the half of the vehicle they do understand. -
VW Polo - Car reliability 30 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Two days ago the car refused to let me in. Fortunately I was a mile from home, so went to fetch the spare key, which worked. I swapped the battery, no joy. On two occasions the car applied emergency braking for no apparent reason, both times on a bend. It was frightening. On 3 or 4 occasions the radio has refused to turn off when the car was turned off and no key in the ignition. -
Chrysler Voyager (2004 - 2008) - 05 2.8 audio system 3 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Hi there, I have just bought a grand voyager (uk spec) 2.8crd lx and the radio does not work, the unit powers up but no sound comes out of the speakers (infinity system). I have located the amplifier and checked power supply i have 2x permanent 12v feeds, 2x battery negative and 1x ignition switch feed which are working fine. i have tried to trace the speaker wires from head unit back to the amp but i have no continuity (the colour coding is the same front and rear). i have tried to follow wiring through vehicle it appears to run down the n/s of vehicle and dissapears behind the dash, do the speaker wires go through another module in between head unit and amp. -

Developments 20 Mar 2017 (Forum)
The only new technology is in the fuel cell, all the other features are taken from battery electric or hybrid vehicles. A local manufacturer has announced the production of an HGV tractor unit that can travel about 1,200 km between fill-ups. The electric motor is very much suited to vehicle use. -
Peugeot 307 SW - 1.6 petrol - won't start 22 Dec 2016 (Forum)
I believe this indicates the immobiliser still recognises the key. fuses seem to be OK battery seems to be OK but I've put it on to charge just in case The problem seems to be no fuel getting to engine or no ignition. No idea what it could be. I did some work under the car at the weekend. -
Pug 307 2.0l 110bhp "01 - Hdi 2.0l not starting air in fuel lines 14 Nov 2016 (Forum)
It has been very cold recently and i have been running the car low on fuel. also a side note for the past week i have been driving to school with no alt just swapping batteries. I have now put a new alt in but due to this problem i cant drive her anywhere unfortunately. I cant spot anywhere under bonnet where theres any leaks tomorrow i will be spraying fairy liquid water on hoses to see. i havent checked hoses under car yet. when i pump the 'grenade' hand pump it will go hard and then slowly lose pressure and air bubbles will appear. -
SEAT Ibiza SC - paid holding fee for mis-advertised car 28 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I went to see it, the salesman was unpolite passed me the keys and told me "it was up there" had a look at the car it had dents and damage all over the body, it was filthy but was told it just had a valet; mould had started to corrode the rubber seals. the car wouldn't even start as the battery was flat. The interior was damaged and scratched. The windows were electric and wouldn't even go back up. Under the bonnet, all reservoir's i.e. the coolant was overfilled. Didn't even take it for a test drive as I dared to think what the engine was like. -
SEAT Leon SC - Non-starting Seat Leon S 03 1.6 16v 1 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I have given up on working the issue out, so passed it to my mechanic who is also bemused as to what is causing it. Sparks, coil and ht leads are all OK. New alternator and battery has been fitted. O2 sensor and ECU maybe faulty, but don't want to go down the route of sorting that out unless needed, as have already forked out over £400 trying to fix this. Any advice on faults that may be causing this or anyone who has experienced similar issues and knows where to go, would be much appreciated. -
SEAT Leon Cupra - Ignition wiring repair lasted 1 month 23 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Or maybe the original problem was a problem with the starter terminal, and replacing the wiring temporarily fixed the issue. I'm annoyed enough to have a look at the starter solenoid myself (I've changed a battery before..and I'm handy with a soldering iron..). The car can actually be started by holding the spade connector against the broken terminal. Any suggestions welcome. -
Fiat Panda - Is £225 diagnostic fee for my 2008 Fiat Panda ok? 24 Oct 2015 (Forum)
My 2008 Fiat Panda (25k mileage) wouldn't start, although battery was okay. Green flag man thought it was crankshaft sensor. Took it to Halfords, Sydenham who said they couldn't connect it to their computer so thought something was wrong with the ECU. They told me i needed to talk it to a fiat dealership and they didn't charge me any diagnostic fee. -

Mondeo 2.0tdci engine starts no throt 7 Sep 2014 (Forum)
During this "delay" time the engine is ticking over but at lower revs and the engine warning light and the battery light stay on. As soon as they go out the engine revs pick up and the car can be driven. Once it is going it drives fine. No judders or jerks, no loss of power, no warning lights and it doesnt stall - it is as if nothing is wrong until I have parked and want to restart the engine again. -
Vauxhall Signum 2006 1.9 cdti 120 - Seized engine after clutch failure? 31 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Then switched engine off AA attending, they put it in gear and tried to start it, the car stalled. He then tried to do the same again and could hear clicking noises - his suggestion is that the battery had gone flat and the starter motor wasn't turning enough. It was towed home, and subsequently towed to the garage. The mechanic has tried to turn the wheels whilst in gear (5th) and the wheels will not turn and is moving the engine. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso - Dash warning drivers door is open and not locking 16 Feb 2014 (Forum)
The doors don't seem to be locking and whilst im driving the warning light for the drivers door being open is constant, also with the courtesy lights - I have turnt these off to not drain the battery- Also not sure if this is linked but I have recently noticed that the hazard light in the centre of the dashboard has recently started flashing when I turn the engine off. Also another thing, could this be related by the storms which were in the Uk last night? -
Nissan Leaf - New Nissan Leaf for £18K - A Great deal 21 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Offer runs to the 31st March. I may go the full 2 year term on this deal as I want to see how EV battery technology improves - don't want to be left with old technology! I think this deal is partly due to Nissan clearing 2012 Japanese imported stock prior to starting production in Sunderland in a few months time.
