  • Speeding 21 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Caught on candid camera doing 45 in 30 limit. Licence so far clean, as no traffic offences for about 30 years. What fine and how many points can I expect?
  • Red light Camera;Court proceedings; Advice please 5 May 2011 (Forum)
Around 15m further there was a further pair of traffic lights that were also red. My instant reaction was that these were also part of the exit cameras and I went through them. as I did the camera flashed. I now realise that these second set of cameras, 15 metres after turning left, were an automated pedestrian crossing. (automated because on the other side of the carriageway they acted as the STOP sign for  the crossroads)   So although these lights had been red for 5.5 seconds, I had actually only seen them after turning  left, so only for a fraction of this time, and in addition was temporarily confused by the number of lights on, having just gone through green and facing red.
  • Nissan Note - Athermic (UV filtered) windscreens 11 Jun 2010 (Forum)
I am thinking of buying a speed camera detector but they will not work through an Athermic windscreen. Does the Note have such a windscreen?
  • Horsey goings on in Wales 31 Mar 2008 (Forum)

  • Spray-on number plate disguise 14 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Does this stuff work? You spray it on and it reflects the speed camera flash back so well that it overexposes the film & disguises your number plate.
  • Gatso Loophole 7 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Does this apply to both fixed cameras and mobile units? I ask because a mobile unit has a human witness, ie the policeman operating the unit, & I wonder if this makes a difference.
  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 46 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
it wasn't the case when I was done 8 months ago in Milton Keynes). I have no idea what type of cameras are used in Oxford, but on the assumption they're GATSO's then this evidence would be taken from behind and would purely prove the speed of the car rather than who was driving - correct? Can I ask for photographic evidence to show who was driving?

  • ANPR Possibly Illegal 3 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The government's chief surveillance commissioner has warned that ANPR cameras could qualify as 'covert surveillance' and may therefore be illegal. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/11/30/anpr_legality_debate/ Kevin...
  • Interactive speed signs 13 Aug 2003 (Forum)
When these flash up the limit, they are just warnings right? They don't actually lead to a fine like a camera do they? It's just I passed through about 5 today...

  • Gantry message numpties 8 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Don't the numpties that operate these message boards have cameras to see what's going on? Do they not have contact with patrols?  So often they seem to fail to switch off the advisories when the problem has long since resolved.  Does anyone out there have any knowledge of why the gantry service is so often stupidly incompetent?
  • In-Car Cameras & Insurance Policies 18 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hi All, A question I'm curious to find the answer to. I'll be upgrading the runabout next year and I'm seriously tempted to fit a car-cam in the windscreen....
  • Incar CCTV 5 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Overnight someone has driven into my car outside my house, and caused damage similar to that of the March accident, which means another claim on the insurance, as it was a £1200 repair. Given the size of cameras, and cheapness of electronics these days, someone (maybe even the car manufacturers) should develop a system of in car cameras which monitor the outside of the vehicle, so that evidence is available to determine who is responsible for accidents. 4 would suffice at a minimum, mounted at the B pillars, pointing forwards and backwards.

  • Two speeding tickets in two days 17 Apr 2010 (Forum)
We have a new speed camera around the corner from our house and this morning there are two letters about speeding tickets from it on the doormat for two days last week, 41 in a 30 and 39 in a 30. The camera is not a normal Gatso - was fixed but doesn't flash apparently.
  • Detecting old radar detectors of your mates 1 May 2009 (Forum)
Or even coming out `naked` at night when no one can see into the cab. Some say the bleeps and flashing lights were fun - as well as knowing which camera in the city had the actual camera in it. (Yes they are still seen swapping it around here) My mate has one in the cupboard he says. I told him to leave it there as likely there was a draconian detector detector out there on the mean streets..
  • I Have a Question - Volume 217 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Surely 1/8 of a set of batteries per picture is a ridiculous return. All I want is a decent spec, bog standard family camera that comes out of the drawer a few times a year to take normal holiday type piccies. Is this kind of downside what I have to expect unless I spend big?
