  • C4, 208, Clio, Octavia diesels euro 6 auto - Ultimate MPG for used diesel euro 6 automatic 5 Jun 2024 (Forum)
I've read quite a lot online about PSA's bluehdi diesels, I see the Citroen C4 bluehdi returns great mpg, likewise the Peugeot 208 1.6 bluehdi. Also I've heard the Skoda Octavia and Renault Clio 1.5 return great mpg  What's the ultimate when it comes to MPG?  Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

  • Any - How to haggle in the showroom. 28 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I remember a mondeo being RRP £21,500 or there abouts and it's target was £18,100 brand new.  I've only bought a new car once (Renault Clio) many moons ago, I managed to get £900 off by saying this is whatI've got a spend not a penny more, after 3 weeks of back and forth I got the deal for the car I wanted.  What tips do you have?
  • Low large boot used car/van ? 16 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I would prefer a 4x4 as a car or a small van   Having looked at lots of options and comments ( landrover, subaru, rav4, vitara etc)  it seems for my purposes I have a choice between :- -- Diesel X-Trail - from what  understand reliable, good on the road and off-road. -- Renault Kangoo, Citroen Belingo or similar - functional and fine in the winter with winter tyres and for me insurance/tax cheaper. I know they seem and odd pair but both will serve the dogs on terms of boot and both type have a low boot.
  • Dacia Duster 64 Pre Regs 8 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Apparently, the Romanian dusters really are the robust bargain they have been on the continent and worthy of consideration. I do think Renault should be congratulated for accepting the Indian factory was useless and moving UK production to Romania.

  • Toyota 1.4 D-4D - Toyota 1.4 D-4D maintenance costs 16 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I am looking a cheap supermini - so maybe 6, 7 years old and 80-100K. I know to my great cost (£1,500) that the Renault Clio engine is great until it goes wrong. On researching I found that small engined common-rail diesels are typically not as reliable as the old diesels, being under much greater stresses, which they most likely will sometime after 80,000 miles, even if properly serviced.
  • Suzuki SX4 v Swift - Which car? 1 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Bringing in two other cars, the last year 2008 of the Mazda 3 hatch/ saloon and the same year 2008 Renault Megane Saloon, together with the SX4 (and perhaps the Swift as well) how would you compare these three (four) cars as cars, not considering the difference in age, and what would be your preference?
  • Van with most reliable automatic transmission? 5 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Vw t4's had chocolate box transmissions, the t5's took until 2005 to sort most problems out. 2005-2009 aren't any great shakes in smoothness of changes. the latest with dsg boxes are problematic and require strict maintenance and v expensive to fix. Renault/Vauxhall tiptronics aren't any great shakes. Ford no longer do them. Don't know about Merc vitos but there is initial purchase expense and lots of reviews slating general handling. After that I gave up.
  • Ford Galaxy - In defence of accident managment companies 11 May 2011 (Forum)
When our Galaxy, a 7 seat,  group 12 insurance, vehicle was much newer we were hit in the rear 3 times by other vehicles. On each occasion when I contacted the insurance about a replacment car I was offered a Renault  Clio, 107 or Corsa. I attempted to explain that we drove a seven seater because we needed one and had been paying  higher insurance for the priveledge of doing so. Without avail in the first two instances.
  • Need advice on compact diesel(Polo,Getz,Corsa etc) 7 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Honda Jazz- not a diesel, but still quite economic and probably more reliable.  === 6. Peugeot and Renault- are these worth any consideration?      N.B. The car will be used in a country, where repair costs are roughly 0.5 that of the UK.
  • Help Needed Quick....... 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I cant decide to go Luxury or Sensible so need a little steering in the right direction. Which would be the most reliable. I know the Renault & Ford are the models least appealing to the general public, but i feel makes them good value to Me. Thoughts please everyone. Cheers James
