Undergrand carriage

I'm currently helping my mum chose her next Motability car. She has arthritis and needs a high driving position, an automatic gearbox and ideally she would like to keep the keyless ignition she has with her current car - a Grand Scenic - as it's easier on her hands. The Grand Scenic is much too big for her now. I though I'd found her the perfect car - a C3 Picasso but she can't wait for them to release the automatic version next year. Please could you suggest some cars we should look at? Ideally she'd like to keep the amount she has to pay up-front to under £1,000.

The normal length new Scenic arrives in July. Meanwhile, there's the Modus and the Nissan Note 1.6 autos. But, if she can manage the keys, the super upright Suzuki Splash and Vauxhall Agila 1.2 autos should do the business. I demonstrate how easy they are to get in and out of on video at www.honestjohn.co.uk (For other readers who need a voluminous automatic, Renault now makes a 1.6 automatic version of its new Kangoo combi.)
