S40 2.0D - When to Scrap a car 24 May 2013 (Forum)
We buy any cars reckoned £1250 which they will probably barter down to somewhere around £1000 AA tred to fix it withou success (in limp mode) so took in it to main dealer in Guildford. They wanted £180 just for diagnostic £140 to fit new battery. I have error code reader which gave ECM1203 ESM1202 and ECM1213 which are injector errors. I could find too much about them on net. Dealer reckoned once £180 diagnostic it would need 1 or 2 injectors at £400 a pop. -
Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 02 1.2 intermittent starting problem 19 Dec 2012 (Forum)
This seems quite at random, the engine spins over perfectly on the starter, but does not fire. First I fitted a new battery - although old one seemed OK - Next fitted new plugs (Despite huge tool kit, had to buy special spanner -Those Frenchies!) Next stop was new coil/leads from Renault dealer. All has made no difference. -
Peugeot 206 Y Reg 123K - Lazy Starter Motor? 4 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Hi there The last couple of winters on cold mornings, my car struggles to turn over and in a couple of cases hasn't started. I had a new battery fitted last year and the problem still occurs this year. One mechanic who lives in my street heard my car turning over and suggested that I have a lazy starter motor, which would make sense as I once my car starts running, I could go up the road to get some petrol, then my car will turn over without any problems and it never impacts on my 15 mile journey into work. -
Ford Focus Estate - speedo stops with performance lag 4 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Sometimes I also notice the headlights seem to have dimmed a little because when I accelerate I see the light becomes brighter. This may be coincidental. I should add, the battery is only about a year old. So, what could the problem be? Might it be an easy fix or is it likely to be expensive? And yes, we do know a non-functional speedo is an MOT fail! -
Toyota Lucida Estima 2.2 TD 1995 - Starting Problem 2 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Other forums I have been on point me towards the Stop Solenoid, but they refer to non starting vehicles and not a sporadic starting problem like mine. I have checked all the usall culprits like Battery, changing the Fuel and air filters etc. It has been suggested it could be an injector fault, but the car runs fine with no eratic idle problems once running. Has anybody come across this problem with their Toyota Lucida, and point me in the right direction? -

Peugeot 406 - Headlight allways on 17 Jul 2012 (Forum)
But lately another quite annoying problem appeared. Sometimes i cant turn off the light unless i disconnect the battery! Ususally they go off after few secs. Last night i switched off the car and waited an hour for the lights to go off, and they didnt, so i unplugged the battey. Now i dont ask some1 to be familiar with the problem cause i didnt manage to google it, but i would appreciate if some1 could direct me to auto light wiring cause there aint no any in Haynes manual. -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2.0 HDi fuel problem? 25 May 2012 (Forum)
The only way to stop it is to switch off a few times and restart it. Sometimes it is ok for a few days, other times I can't clear it at all. I have tried taking the battery off to reset the ECU, but no joy. I suspect it is either an ECU problem or something to do with the fuel supply? When it does do it and I switch off the engine appears to run on for a few seconds, could this be a clue? -

Ford Focus - 52 Ford Focus Tdci intermittent starting 25 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Also I've noticed when I switch the ignition off the fuel gauge rests ar halfway regardless of how much fuel is in there instead of returning to the stop. Could the battery now be a little suspect? Anyone else experienced anything similar? I thank you in advance for your help and advice. Ben -

renault megane scenic 05 - dashboard failure 17 Sep 2011 (Forum)
i called the AA out. he told me that if the dashboard fails the alternator wont charge the battery and you will get lots of warning messages appearing on your dashboard. he towed the car to the dealer and the dealer refused to give me the new car until hed had his mechanics look at my car. -
Peugeot 306 - Rear brake light/indicator earth fault? 12 Feb 2011 (Forum)
However I have checked all the earths I can find (rear cluster in the 'c' pillar, under the rear seat near the seat belt mounts, and in the front wing, as well as what looks like a main earth in the engine compartment that comes straight off the battery.) I have also changed the bulb holders in the rear clusters to rule out corrosion on the circuit boards. I am now admitting defeat as I have no idea where else to look. If anyone has had a similar fault or knows of a place where I haven't looked then any help would be greatly appreciated! -
How much have you spent on motoring over the years 4 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I cheated by having a lot of mechanic friends who have helped me keep motoring. In ten years I have been stranded 4 times (clutch failure, distributor failure and 2 flat batteries). I understand some people will spend less/more, just a bored moment so I decided to tott it all up. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 cooling fan too keen 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
New thermostat and cooling system flush to no avail, despite careful refill and bleed to avoid airlocks as before. Have disconnected battery for a few hours in attempt to let ECU self-reset but no change. If I arrive home with fan frantically whizzing away and switch off for a few seconds, then restart, fan is off. Very baffling. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 Instrument sweep on cold start 21 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I'm having some issues with my T reg Focus, when starting the engine from cold (i.e. when off to work in the morning) my needles will do a full sweep as if they are calibrating. They only do it when starting from cold and they never drop out when driving. I have tested my battery first thing in the morning and had it read over 10 volts and tested it when running with a result of 13+ volts. I have been living with it for a while with no other (apparent) ill effects but when I went to start it this (Monday) morning after it had sat and not run for a weekend it: 1. -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 1993 1.9 starting problem - hot and cold 17 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Its had a new primer bulb in case the one way valve was leaking, it wasn't. I did read through the forums threads on cold starting, while interesting I'm confident its not battery, plugs etc. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. cheers -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Longevity of light bulbs... 15 Nov 2009 (Forum)
It's not always on the same side - in fact this one should be slightly easier because it's not on the battery side. I've a suspicion that earlier failures have been associated with cheaper bulbs but I know for a fact that the current survivor is a Ford Motorcraft bulb - and so is the replacement that I have for the one that has just failed. -
Renault - Master - 96 2.5 too much oil- no engine start 23 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Halfords auto shop told me to drain the fuel, change the diesel filter and flush the system (not sure how). This morning, I cannot start the engine and the battery is slowly dying. Have I totalled the engine? What is my best move now? Thanks for any advice, Matt
