HPI Warns Again of Stolen V5 Scam 24 Jul 2009 (News)
“Most crooks selling cloned cars would rather walk away from a sale than take a payment that could be traced back to them. Our advice is don’t pay for your purchase with a substantial amount of cash, particularly if the car is costing you more than £3,000. -
A Grand Monday: Jaguar XJ40 3.2 5 Mar 2018 (News)
Despite its flaky build quality and litany of electrical gremlins, the XJ40 was really quite a charming car. And while its well-documented foibles kept it in the bargain basement for many years, the XJ40 is now finally starting to catch on as a classic. Time sorts the wheat from the chaff, and as a result most of the crusty, badly maintained XJ40s are long gone, the remainder being cars that have been cherished and well looked after. -
A Grand Monday: Rover 618iS 26 Feb 2018 (News)
Yet look at the styling and it looks more modern today than its eventual successor, the 75, thanks to the 1990s’ love of high waistlines, narrow headlamps and wedginess – traits that are once again becoming popular in modern car design. The 600 was about 70 per cent Honda Accord, including most of the mechanical components; the exceptions being the Rover-engined 2.0-litre Ti and 2.0-litre diesel models. This, in turn, meant that the 600 was one of the most reliable models in the Rover range, with none of the head gasket issues that affected K-series powered cars. -

A Grand Monday: Subaru Justy 30 Oct 2017 (News)
It's a quirky car, but a useful one. Like most Subarus, it has four-wheel-drive, operated via a selector lever to help cope with slippery terrain. And, being a Subaru, it's a serious set-up - it may look like a shopper's supermini, but the Justy was always a tough cookie when it came to the white stuff. The vendor is very honest about the car's condition. -

The Phantom is owned by Hok Kiang Sia from Malaysia who described the Rally as ‘akin to climbing Mount Everest for the antique car racing world.’ The car caught fire on the first day in the Gobi Desert and Hok and Eric had to return to the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar - but rather than admit defeat they worked on the Rolls-Royce for five days before spending two weeks in catching up with the rally. -
Peking to Paris crews hit Gobi desert 16 Jun 2016 (News)
Competition in this year's Peking to Paris challenge is hotting up as rally crews reach Mongolia’s Gobi Desert. With 107 crews and cars making it to the Great Wall of China start line on Sunday, 12 June, and two days journeying through China, the first test took place after the border crossing into Mongolia. After a night under canvas, competitors were treated to a trio of special tests that challenged both car and driver, with some cars coming off the worst, including three-time winner Gerry Crown and Matt Bryson in the Leyland P76 who suffered oil problems. -
US-built DeLoreans set to go on sale in 2017 29 Jan 2016 (News)
Wynne said, ‘It basically means if you are a global manufacturer of cars and you produce less than 5,000 cars a year, you can produce 325 replicas that match an original car that was made 25 years ago or earlier which fits us perfectly.’ The name of Wynne’s firm is the DeLorean Motor Company – but it has no links to the original business. -

Barn find Bentley sells for £739,000 23 Apr 2015 (News)
Bids were flying at Barons’ Sandown Park saleroom Tuesday when a rare 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback ‘barn find’ restoration project went under the hammer. With an estimate of £200,000-£400,000, the car attracted frenzied bidding before it was finally secured by its new owner for £739,212. This was the highest price Barons has ever achieved for a car – and other strong sales on the day brought the auction total to over £1 million. -

While a trio of stunning Italian sports cars grabbed the pre-sale headlines, it was the cars from Stuttgart that consistently performed well on the day. A 964 Carrera 4, first registered in 1990, made £38,250 - £6250 over its top estimate. -
Ford GT70 rally car on show in new motorsport exhibition 17 Feb 2015 (News)
The GT70 and RS200 will go on show at Beaulieu as part of the museum’s A Chequered History exhibition. On loan from the Ford Heritage Collection, the cars are both prototypes of fascinating rally cars, which had their own ‘chequered histories’. That’s because despite being designed to win rallies, rally wins eluded both of them. The Ercole Spada-designed GT70 was conceived in 1970 to rival the giants of European rallying, like the Lancia Stratos, Renault Alpine and the Porsche 911. -
Ex-Moss and Jenkinson 300SL to be sold by Bonhams 9 May 2014 (News)
Its history is impressive - it was the model-launch vehicle displayed by Daimler-Benz at the 1954 Paris Salon de l’Automobile exhibition, was the 1955 London Motor Show car displayed at Olympia, and it was also the 1955 road test car featured in the The Autocar magazine. But most significantly, the car was used by Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson during course reconnaissance for the 1955 Mille Miglia round-Italy road race. -
