Windscreen Wash Not Working - Pug 406 1 Oct 2003 (Forum)
The system has worked fine except the last time I tried to use it it was dry and I assumed it had just run out of fluid. I\'ll be glad to hear suggestions as to what may have happened please. Thanks - Denis -
Passat TDI coolant temperature gauge 12 Sep 2003 (Forum)
As the car warms up it just comes on to scale and slowly rises just short of normal temperature then quickly falls back off scale and continues to cycle like this whilst the car is running. Definitely no overheating problems and engine management is OK with no faults. Having checked under the bonnet with the "TDI" cover removed, I can't find the coolant temperature sensor. I would have expected it to be in the cylinder head somewhere. -

Air lock in cooling system - Vectra 14 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi, Any one tell me how i get rid of an air lock in the cooling system? I\'ve got a 97 (P) Vectra, I\'ve run the engine for about an hour with no cap on. Revving it up to normal op temperature, letting it spit all the water out & refilling. Then doing it again. But i still got air in the system. I\'ve tried driving about for a while with no cap on, but still got air in there. -
Lorry driver killed preventing theft 9 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Just heard a tragic news item about a lorry driver who was run over and killed by his own truck as he bravely tried to stop thieves taking his load. I can genuinely sympathise with the man's family and praise his loyalty to his employers - who I trust will make sure his family are well looked after. -
Carlton Lights 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Thing is....it doesn't always do this (only the second time i've noticed it, first time i put down to bright sunshine!) The engine was not running but the ignition key was in (turned off). Should it do this? if so what could possibly cause it to only happen intermittently? If this is an obvious question please excuse my ignorance. Thanks in advance Regards to all Bob -
Grand Prix Nutter 21 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I can't see another thread about this, so here goes ... I was almost sick yesterday as i watched Mr Crazy running down the track. I was a nipper when Tom Pryce was killed at Kyalami when he hit a marshall (1977 SA GP), and I recall seeing the footgae on TV that night, after returning from the track - marshall's head one way, legs another, torso another ... -
Concept cleaning 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Well I use concept for valeting, most of the stuff is good, but recently I changed my glass cleaner. I used to use Concept \"squeaky\", unfortunately my supplier run out of this and only had Concept \"squeaky XL\". Needless to say I bought this product thinking the XL would mean it was better, well I dont think it is, its harder to use and leaves loads of smears, has anyone any experience of this stuff? -
VW Golf MK2 losing water 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have checked the oil filler cap for mayo or white residue but it looks fine, although the engine bay has a steamy sort of smell after a run which leads me to think that maybe one of the hoses is letting go? Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Barg. -

BMW 5 series rough idle 30 May 2003 (Forum)
After starting it from hot or cold it normally idles perfectly, but if I start it from cold and stop it again before the water temp rises, then the next time I start it, it runs really roughly for about two mins, like its only firing on 4 or 5 cyls. It does not matter whether the restart is a few minutes later or a few days. There are no other symptoms. Auto choke/ airflow meter spring to mind but I dont know much about the workings. -
Best super-mini for under £2000? 29 May 2003 (Forum)
I've got £2000 plus p/x on my car (probably about £250). I drive about 300m per week, so I need something reliable, cheap to run and will last a few years. I've been looking at Clio/Fiesta/Punto/Micra, but I thought I'd get some advice from here first to see the pros and cons of these cars. If anybody could give me some advice on these cars (or other ones...), then that'd be great. -

Even More Stupid Insurance Question! 19 May 2003 (Forum)
My insurance allows me to drive other cars on a third party basis. Can I legally drive the Fiesta using my insurance to get it to a garage to MOT it (it runs out at the end of this month and it'd be easier to sell with 12 months ticket on it)? -

alternator dead or not? 11 May 2003 (Forum)

Overweight Cabriolet 6 May 2003 (Forum)
Definitely needs a stiffer front end to stop it wallowing and something needs to be done to stop it running wide. The 2.4 petrol is slower than the 1.8T and is very lethargic. The 3.0 litre petrol seems to be the best sorted by some distance but it's pretty thirsty. All in all, just not sure. Anyone else out there tried one? -

XUD Fuel Pump Problems 7 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Hi Folks, I own a Pug 306 D turbo with around 130K on the clock. The car starts perfect from cold and runs very well......until I try to start it from hot. If the car is left for n hour or so after a long journey, it will restart but after about 10 seconds, it suddenly surges and then cuts out. It could take several attempts to restart it. -
A Mini Adventure 15 Feb 2003 (Forum)
A deserted Mini dealership, mid-week, mid-afternoon. I go and open the door of a Cooper and 10 seconds later the alarm goes off. Salesman comes running and across and tells me I shouldn't sit in the cars without asking. Alarm can't be turned off because the car battery is flat. I ask to test drive one and am told there's a two day notice period for test drives.
