Honda or any older car - Precautionary water pump replacement 10 Apr 2016 (Forum)
In last Saturday's Daily Telegraph someone wrote in who was planning to go on a European trip in a 2003 Peugeot. HJ replied that replacing the water pump is always a good idea before taking an old car for a long journey. I have a 1999 Honda which I am planning to take to Europe this summer - not for the first time. Should I be replacing the water pump? I've never had any obvious trouble nor the whining water pump noise. -

Peugeot 306 - Bypass heater exchange 4 May 2012 (Forum)
I have an old Peugeot 306, with a faulty heater exchange leaking into the passenger footwell of the car. Due to the age/value of the car, I don't want to replace the heater exchange. I'd like to simply bypass it so I can make the car last a few more months before I replace it (over the summer). -
Vauxhall Meriva B - Bought a fairly new car from Salvage - warranty? 28 Apr 2012 (Forum)
I bought a car from salavage and did it up. There is no record that its ever had a problem - unrecorded. Can I still use the warranty on it? I think if it goes on the ramp it is possible that they will notice its had an accident - it works fine just need to get the ECU reprogrammed and it's got a problem with error codes coming up - was wondering if its possible to use the warranty - it's less than a year old. -

Ford Mondeo - Mondeo Titanium Estate - 2.0 tdci Econetic 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hi All, Currently had a rushed test drive in a 2010 Mondeo Titanium estate today, so I didnt get a chance to explore the car fully. Its fitted with the econetic 115bhp engine. Anyone any views on the performance of this car with a detuned engine? How well does it overtake, and is there a need for a lot of gear-stirring? I found my old '05 mondeo 130bhp very sprightly, and I dont want to upgrade to a car with a significant performance downgrade. -

Focus v S40 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
SWMBO's Corolla is due for replacement and I have a shortlist of two - well, one really, but then I thought and hence the question. These two cars, in base form with a 1.6 petrol engine, are similar in price. The lady herself doesn't care. She does about 8,000 miles a year on A roads and hasn't a heavy right foot. We try to keep cars as long as possible - her Corolla will shortly be 10 years old. -

Hopefully someone can help. Had a MK5 golf on 04 plate so just under 3yrs old. Took the car in recently to vdub as the lacquer has blown off the alloy wheels and looks a mess. Trying to get all replaced on the anti corrosion warranty, but I suspect dealer will bounce it on the fact that its done over 60k miles. -

Jeep cherokee with U/S lpg conversion 29 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Hello all, anybody got the knowledge on LPG conversions? Its a Millenium system about 3 years old. It will run the car ok for a few miles then almost shuts off. ( Car will just idle only) Car runs ok on petrol. Diagnostic inconclusive. Ive re-earthed the solenoids, renewed the stepping motor and substituted a new solenoid for each of the 3 in turn. -

Then in my wing mirror I see the car pull out of the line with rapid flashing blues in the radiator area or poss under bumper, now siren going. It speeds around the traffic and turns left at the junction while on red. -
Rustproofing 24 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Alright, this is really 2 related questions! I was thinking about having my new car Waxoyled after seeing the extent that rust can eat a chassis after just 7 years on old Fiesta. But is it worth it on a 2002 Fiesta? Has rustproofing come on such a long way as to make Waxoyl a waste of money on a new car? -

I have read with interest the various threads over the last few months about air con. When I choose my next car, it likely to be 3 to 4 years old ex fleet and not more than £5K. I intend running the car for another 3 years (30K). For the first time many of the cars falling into this category have air con. -
