Used car wholesale prices fell in April 10 May 2011 (News)
Compared to April 2010, 2011 used cars were on average 3 months older (53 months old on average), with around 3,000 more miles on the clock (53,853 miles on average). However some values increased. Average used supermini values rose 8.5% and average used MPV values rose by 7.2%, thanks to a reduction in average age. -

Accident rate lower among drivers who get a head start 23 Nov 2012 (News)
A survey has shown that the accident rate among teenage drivers who have participated in the SEAT Young Driver programme is lower after six months behind the wheel than it is among those who haven’t. The programme allows youngsters to get behind the wheel of a full-sized car from as young as 11, giving them a head start before they take their ‘proper’ on-the-road lessons. According to Department for Transport statistics, 20% of 17-24 year olds will have an accident in their first six months behind the wheel, but the survey - conducted by the company behind SEAT Young Driver – shows that those who participated in the SEAT Young Driver course had a much lower accident rate of 9% in their first six months of driving. -
Smoking with children in the car now illegal 1 Oct 2015 (News)
Currently the law only applies in England and Wales. Both the driver and whoever is smoking in the car will face a £50 fine, though initially the police will take a relaxed approach to raise awareness, rather than to harshly penalise smokers. 17-year-old drivers with no passengers can still smoke in a car. -
Suzuki Sells 2,100 on Scrappage 10 Jun 2009 (News)
Suzuki is pleased to announce the early success of its participation in the Government scrappage scheme. More than 2,100 confirmed orders have been taken since launch on May 18th as car buyers realise that leaving their old car behind and driving away in a new Suzuki Alto can be theirs from just £4,795 – a saving of £2,000 on today’s price and £1,850 less than a new Alto cost back in June 1999. -

Private buyers flocked to Blackbushe today and plenty of them drove home in bargains. The Citroen C3 Pluriel in the photo was only a couple of months old, with just 1,000 miles on the clock and everything working, just the rear tonneau missing. Top bid was £7,250 by a well known trade buyer. However, today being the last day of the month the Bank of Scotland and Lex cars were reserved to sell and Hall 1 was where the real bargains were. -

Heritage Motor Centre to host Morris Centenary Rally 9 Jul 2013 (News)
The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in the West Midlands will host a Morris Centenary Rally on Sunday 14 July, celebrating 100 years of Morris vehicles. On display at the event will be six hundred-year-old Morris Bullnose models with White and Poppe four-cylinder engines. The event, organised by the Bullnose Morris Club as a tribute to William Morris, is expected to host more than 100 different Morris cars built between 1913-1987. -
