  Does anyone konw if the cameras on the variable speed section of the M25 actually work? As anyone got a ticket from driving around this section? The lower speed limits appear to be generally ignored and there are only one or two cameras in this section that I've ever seen actually flash.

  If the camera had caught me it would have been filming across the flow of traffic coming the other direction. I think the cameras are more likely to film cars on the same side of the road as them. I think it more likely this van was filming those entering the 30mph limit.

  Went through a amber traffic light today and there was a safety camera If the light went red before the rear wheels cleared the line is that classed as an offence Dont think but not 100% sure if there was a flash or not it was a GATSOMETER Camera Any advice looked online and it said The camera is not triggered by vehicles crossing the stop line on yellow (amber) or green lights.

  Son and I were strolling into town the other day and we pondered a shiny yellow camera. I daydreamed that Captain Gatso would appear to no avail. Now there were two little holes facing one way and on the other side what appeared to be a flash unit and camera. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems that you are monitored approaching the camera and photographed after you have passed by.

  I don't really have a problem with covert cameras to be honest. In fact, I think the use of a covert camera would more accurately reflect the negative attitude to speed limits by drivers. When approaching overt cameras, all that happens is that speeding drivers brake on approach, then speed up again after.

  New camera's installed last week in Theobald Street, Borehamwood/Radlett, Herts. help please as I would like to know the purpose. The road already has 4 camera's, 2 at the each end of the road, 1-2 miles apart.

  I may be being paranoid but I'm not very familiar with traffic signal cameras - are they normally positioned so that they take a photo of the back of your car? And if it was a speed camera as well would that be the same? I'm wondering whether this camera flashed because it caught someone going the other way running a light...

  Hello In my town there is two lanes travelling one way with a gatso speed camera and both these lanes have the white line speed markings. on the other direction travelling towards teh camera is two lanes with NO white line speed markings. I was behind a car travelling a bit faster than me and we were travelling towards the camera (opposite side) and teh camera flashed (two flashes only) but not sure if there was nay car on the opposite side Can you tell me if I will get speeding ticket despite no white speed markings?

  I received a NIP in the post having gone through a forward Travelo speed camera,   The camera gave out a white flash. Another car going in the opposite direction passed me. I replied to the NIP and asked if it where possible the Camera was working properly as it flashed.

  Apologies if this is covered in the speed camera thread, but could anyone tell me if the gantry cameras on the M42 Automated Traffic Management section 'catch' you if you're doing, say, 60 through a 50 indicated limit, or are they average speed detectors?

  Although they are placed to record your rear registration number. 1. Do they pick you up on the first camera you pass and work out your average speed until the last camera you pass? 2. Do they only work between 2 adjacent cameras? If so do all cameras operate or are they random? If you drive from Dundee to Stonehaven you drive passed around 7 fixed cameras, not including 2 that measure a 50mph limit.

  There are also these average speed camera's mounted on the gantry, although in Yellow. I thought the requirements of any speed camera that should have a Yellow background boarding etc., not just a yellow cctv type camera with its infrared sensor.

  This morning I safely went through a green light at a set of lights with a traffic light camera. However, at the lights along the road from this camera,I had restricted viewing due to buses. Emphasis on the fact that the lights i accidentally went through the red at were at the next set along the road from the camera.
