BR members called 'scholarly' by academics 5 Jun 2009 (Forum)
He said it had enabled him to impress the salesman at the garage who had told him, no, the car didn't have a DPF and he was quite right to want it not to have one... As it happens they are both Old Etonians. Etonians don't always know the meaning of the word scholarly, but these two certainly do. -

Shelf life and age of "new" tyres 28 Nov 2008 (Forum)
v=ITpyCdIdkW8 On the back of that, I checked the tyres on my 05-plate 108k mile car which I bought a few months ago, and found I had three 2007 tyres and one mysterious 2004 one, which surely couldn't have been original to the car at that mileage? Food for thought, though - how old are your tyres? -

Mercedes Benz E-Class W124 Estates (1985 - 1996) - Battery Maintenance 17 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Jump start and we were off. £68 later at Euro Car Parts we have a 096 Bosch Silver Maintenance free battery. I know it is blindingly obvious but I have never been keen on maintenance free batteries. The old one needed a top up every 9 months; hardly hard work and it gave nearly 10 years service. -
Trading in vs. selling privately 14 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I have a 14 year old Honda CRX (93 model) VTi with 110k miles. It's been great, but as I have an 8 month old baby it's time to get something with a back seat. I fancy a Clio 172 or a Peugot 306 Gti and only want to spend £3-4K max. -
Pirelli P6000s really that good? 9 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I used to have four Michelin Pilot Exalto which were fantastic - best tyres I\'ve ever used but they\'re now discontinued. Long story but old car got written off and new car (same as before, 99T Vectra 2.0 GLS) which I bought in March was fitted with brand new P6000s (195/65/15 VR), which I thought great because I\'ve heard people rave about them. -
Number plate styles 19 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Post 1973 classic cars - if you have just finished restoring, say, a 1974 Triumph TR6, do you have to use the new style lettering, which will look as much out of period as reflective plates on a Jowett Javelin. 3. Is it now illegal to sell reflective plates with the old style lettering? -
Renault Laguna - AA Breakdown Repair Cover - Dont Waste your money 24 May 2014 (Forum)
As soon as you drive a new car off the forecourt you will have some degree of wear and tear. What is the point of having insurance when every time I go to claim, the AA refuses to pay out? Anyone would think that they are trying to get me to cancel my insurance because my car is getting old. -
