Aston Martin announces 1000 new jobs 23 Mar 2016 (News)
Aston Martin has launched a recruitment drive for its new factory in St Athan in Wales. The employment drive will see Aston Martin take on an extra 1000 staff, as part of a £200m investment in new cars and facilities. Around 750 of the new posts will be based at Aston Martin's new St Athan factory in Wales, although some 250 jobs will also be creased at its current plant in Gaydon in the midlands. The recruitment drive will be phased over the next four years and focus on apprenticeships and those wanting to break into a career in automotive manufacturing. -

The Ford Kuga is said to provide "remarkable traction" due to its all-wheel drive (AWD) system. According to the manufacturer, this technology helps the car to grip harder on icy roads as it spreads torque between all four wheels on demand. This gives it dynamic credentials as well as competitive fuel consumption, Ford added. -
FIAT Ecodrive wins award 1 Jul 2009 (News)
The latest motoring news has seen Fiat express its delight at winning an award for eco-friendly technology. According to the manufacturer, the eco:Drive's win in the Interactive Drive category is a "top honour" and was given by the most prestigious advertising event of this type. The Cannes Lions Awards considered 22,652 entries from 86 countries and only the most outstanding competitors receive the Grand Prix, which is the nod taken home by the eco:Drive - a USB stick that is plugged into a port in the car and used to analyse journeys, driving habits and efficiency. -

Snow 'sees car insurance claims triple' 4 Feb 2009 (News)
According to Accident Exchange, it is thought there were about 30,000 crashes - rather than the usual 10,000. It claimed the rise in collisions was down to the fact Brits are unused to driving in the snow. Steve Evans, chief executive of Accident Exchange, said: "Driver inexperience is to blame with people coming across marooned cars and hitting them, driving too fast or too close to the car in front. -

Ford Fiesta named Scottish car of the year 3 Nov 2008 (News)
According to the manufacturer - which also took home the first prize in the competition last year for the Ford Mondeo - a panel of 17 judges from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) made the decision. The jury voted on factors including value for money, style and dynamic driving. Bill Craven, the president of the ASMW, presented the awards and noted it was "absolutely unbelievable" for a firm to be awarded first prize in two successive years. "Within hours of getting our first drive in the car we were all blown away by the experience. -

It shares the rear drive layout and Mustang engine of the MG ZT 260, and instead of a hefty 5-speed manual comes with what MG Rover describes as “a smooth automatic transmission”. They don’t say how many speeds the box has, but do say the car will do 0-60 in under 7 seconds and go on to 150mph. -

World record for Aston Martin at auction 9 Feb 2015 (News)
A rare left-hand drive 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible sold for €1,897,500 (£1,430,715) – setting a new world auction record. The car, one of just 35 made, went under the hammer at Bonhams Grand Palais sale at Retromobile, Paris, on 5 February.

The Megane RenaultSport 275 Trophy-R has reclaimed the lap record of the Nurburgring Nordschleife for a front wheel drive production car with a time of 7 minutes and 54.36 seconds. The record was previously held by the SEAT Leon Cupra 280 , which broke Renault’s lap time in March.
