  Hi,,can anyone tell me which warning lamp holes should have bulbs in them,,,i do realise some of them do not get used,i.e diesel glowplug lights in petrol car,,etc,,they are all numbered 1-23 and most of mine are missing,including my EML bulb which should never be missing.I think somebody has been messing about....any help would be greatly appreciated.It is a Rreg 97 astra artic 1.6 16v automatic,,,cheers in advance,,,,,Eddie
• I have been offered a speed awareness course 25 Oct 2009 (Forum)
  After some correspondence, I have been offered a speed awareness course in either Brighton, Eastbourne, Bognor or Horsham. I am inclined to accept the Horsham location, however the don't do automatic cars there. So this would mean driving a manual gearbox car - something I haven't done much of for about 15 years - apart from driving my Minor. Does anyone know how much driving is involved?

  I'm looking around for a small automatic. Had a brief look at a couple of cars and a chat with the salesman without making an offer yet. When I've asked if the price is open to negotation I've been told something like "not really\not much - small autos are hard to find so are more expensive".

  Currently driving a KIA Sedona diesel automatic whilst overseas. Possibly the most unsafe car I have ever driven. The turbo lag is so great that the car will not pull the skin of a rice pudding until it reaches about 1,800 revs at which point it takes off like a scalded cat.

  I have a strange problem with the MIL light.The light is on all the time and the power is down,my scanner says there is no fault codes stored and the system is normal but when I start the engine and read the data stream, the speed sensor is fluctuating between 12 and 135 mph whith the car stationary.I first thought of an air flow meter problem as there are no codes stored but this speed sensor has me stumped,does anyone know if this has happened before as the local dealer is no help at all. PS,it has an automatic gearbox. Thanks Simon.

  i have a vauxhall vectra TD sri automatic and manual 04 reg and have had several occassions were my car has moved forwards and backwards (like a lurching movement) and then returns to its orginal position the engine was also not running at the time this has happened when parked on a slop and on flat ground has anybody else experienced any similar problem or have any ideals what could be causing this problem thankingyou.

  Hi folks, I've got a 1999 Toyota Corolla (automatic), very low milelage@50K, nothing really wrong with it except the usual stuff with cars in this class. Anyway, my daily commute to work is a good 110 miles round-trip and my beef with the car is the non-existent cabin insulation.

  I don't notice it on cruising anymore, only when accelerating through the range in 2nd gear. Sometimes it feels like an automatic, when you put your foot down in, say, 3rd and it accelerates for a second then decides to change down and there's a surge of power when it locks up. Anyone had this before? Thank you

  My father-in-law has asked my to post a question on his behalf. He wondered if anyone has some insight into a problem with his 2001 BMW 525i (Automatic). The ABS light keeps coming on. Sometimes it stays on, sometimes it goes off and comes back on and sometimes it behaves i.e. goes off and stays off. The independent garage he uses has replaced the sensor (?)

  I've been looking for a chain-cam-engined, reliable, economical, small-ish diesel automatic that has been sold for long enough and in sufficient quantities for it to be available inexpensively secondhand. I'd hoped for a proper i.e. torque-converter, auto for its driving-characteristics but it's proving hard to find.

  I'm idly looking in to automatics at the moment, having been so impressed with my wife's new DSG VW Touran. I don't have a lot of knowledge on the subject as I'd never considered autos before, but I suppose the beigeing process eventually gets us all and now I quite fancy one myself.

  The clattering only became audible after a 100 mile motorway run a month or so ago.... {No need to repeat what you've already selected from the drop down menus as this automatically gets included within the subject header}

  I'm not sure what the name is, but its the belt that drives the power steering, alternator etc. The haynes manual said its an easy job, has an automatic tensioner and should be changed every year. The current belt has done over 40k. I'm quite a diy person myself but it looks very awkward to change. It looks "OK" from the bonnet and there are no visual or audible signs its about to go.

  I'm looking for a nearly new 4x4 diesel automatic, and am finding that there are few cars that fit the bill (or my pocket). Short-listed are the Land Cruiser Prado 3.0D (2007/8), or, if I can find one in my budget, a BMW X3 (2006/7). Other than a Hyundai/Kia, the only other vehicle that fits the brief seems to be a Freelander 2.

  Hi Just purchased a small runabout for my Wife and the car is a Ford Fiesta 1.25 l zetec automatic R reg, the car runs fine except, when at a standstill you put it into Drive it sometimes cuts out and the idle appears to be fast also at a standstill if you rev the engine in Park or Neutral the revs appear to be limited and do not go past 4000rpm, any ideas, electrical or a gearbox problem, due to this if you press the accelerator to the flooor in drive there is no kick down, although its the newer gearbox version of the CVT.

  Looking for some help on a choice of car for my 81 year old mum, who's recently left hospital with a knackered left leg and severely decreased mobility. She's now going to need a small automatic, five door car with enough space for a fold-up wheelchair if she eventually needs one. Her current car is a 02 1.0l five door Yaris with 60k on the clock, and she'd like something similar about two years old of a similar size.

  Italian company Piaggio said that tightening emission legislation sounded the death-knell on the 30-year-old, manually-geared bike - and that all models would now be automatic.   I have a 2001 astra automatic 1.6 and its got the fly by wire throttle so I bought the cruise control stalk which fitted very easy but the lead coming from the stalk I cant find anywhere to plug it in???? I removed the instrument display looking behing it and cannot find any lead which would plug to it.
