Car suggestions 22 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I have yet to try any of the above but looking for some suggestions so I can narrow down a shortlist of 3 or 4 to go and test drive. -
Ford Puma (1997 - 2001) - 2000 1.7 - Loss of Power 12 Aug 2008 (Forum)
The guys at my local Ford garage have contacted Ford UK but have been told this isn't a known problem. Unfortunately in their 5 mile test drives the car has never replicated the problem. I am not imagining it as someone else (not a mechanic) has experienced it while driving. I am now at my wits end as I have got to get it sorted as I believe it is potentially dangerous. -
Citroen C1 (2005 - ) - Have you driven one? 1 Jun 2008 (Forum)
However whilst the interior suits the French C1 and 107, I don't think I would be too happy in the Aygo version?? Driving position was reasonable, but took me a while to find a comfortable incline of the seats and would have liked to raise the seat and pull out the steeering wheel as well as move it up and down. Driving was quite pleasant and perfectly adequate, although there was not a large enough gap between the clutch pedal and the side console to drop the left foot after changing gear. -
Used Car - Audi A4/3 Series/Saab 93/VW Passat?? 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I'm hoping it has a similar refinement (comfort & noise insulation) to the Audi but expecting it to have a less sporty drive, might even have some money left over from my 8k... what would you go for? and why? Is there an alternative you'd recommend instead? -
Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - '97 Ford Ka oil consumption/tappetiness/suspension 23 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Their advice was that they were going at the last service and to just keep driving it but to expect to replace them at the next MOT which is due in July. Again, something to worry about or shall I just keep driving it? Thanks! -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Another TDCI problem - smoke from radiator grille 10 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Now my question is if the pump was cracked would it take months to get worse? Would I notice any difference when driving (I havn't, it drives fine and has plenty of power). The £1000 bill has got me worried and I'm thinking of trying to p/x it quick. PS It's done 120k miles, 100k or so of it on the motorway. Thanks in advance. -
I don't know if I've been caught... 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
But I am concerned that I have been done. No problem, I'll take the rap... The problem is, is that I'm driving my mum's car, which is registered and insured in her name, with me as second driver. No problem, we all cry, the letter will go to her flat! Well yes it will, but she is abroad for three months, hence the reason I have her car. -
A tear in my eye - a sale is made. 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
She has served me well for the last six years, and I feel more than a little sad for passing her on. It was a little strange watching her drive off into the night, as I don't often get to see my cars being driven by someone else. I needed to sell her, as my back problems are getting worse, and I just can't drive a manual car any more. So I placed an advert in the local free ads and sat back secretly hoping for the phone to not ring! -
Will this stump ya!? Pug 206 1.9D 22 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Can you help? Best as always, Craig J. Pug 206, 1.9D , 85k on the clock - motorway driving... -
Shopping a relative to DVLA 17 Nov 2004 (Forum)
A complicating factor in all this is we live 150 miles away, so contact is limited to phone calls and the odd trip at various intervals to see her. She still drives her small car which is a lifeline to her and when pressed claims to have told her insurance company about it whom she said, "said it was ok to drive". It sounds unlikely to me. To our knowledge she has not filled in any extra forms, been re-assessed etc., nor paid any extra premium. -
Change Volvo for A-Class 23 Jun 2004 (Forum)
What should I do? Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive? -
No public transport! - drink drivers! 30 Dec 2003 (Forum)
By the way the fare is normally around £15 there and £20 back. Hardly encourages people not to drink and drive. And before anybody jumps on this, I don't or never will drink/drive, neither do I condone it at all. I'm referring to people of less willpower who no doubt will be on New Year as a result of this madness............oh and haven't the goverment got a thing about drink driving also? -
Citroen XM advice 18 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Would that be enough to find a good car? What about running costs, tricks to longevity, problems experienced, joys of driving etc?! Am very concerned about having a ton and a half of unusable iron and hydraulic fluid sat on my drive after 6 months along with a nervous breakdown! -
Mini problems 18 Dec 2002 (Forum)
I bought my Mini One in March and I must say that it is the finest small car that I have ever driven, that is as driving pleasure goes. On the subject of reliability, in my opinion it is appalling. The first problem that I had was when water got into a "control unit" and I found the car in the drive with both windows completely wound down and the alarm de-activated. -
Car Hire of diferent autos 13 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I spend about 6 weeks a year in the UK visiting Friends and driving mostly B routes, back roads and lanes. In fact as I live on this small Island and walk to work... many years I drive more in the UK than I do in the US... I try to hire a car for each trip that is not sold in the US (last spring was a MG-F and last fall was a Rover 45)and this fall I was thinking of hiring either a M-benz 'A' class or a 'Smart' car. -
Suzuki Swift Ultra 2024 - 2024 Swift – Sat Nav Arrows Cover Digital Speed 9 Aug 2025 (Forum)
I’m driving a 2024 Suzuki Swift and noticed something odd with the sat nav system. When using Android Auto or CarPlay, large directional arrows from the built-in sat nav appear on the central display — completely covering the digital speed readout. -
Struggling to choose cars for under £8.5k, family 14 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I'm currently driving a Ford Focus MK3 Hatchback, and as far as hatchbacks go, it's pretty spacious in the boot and for passengers. I am however looking for something bigger, that I can fit in a pram and some extra bits and two car seats in the backseat without it feeling cramped. -
Neither - Omoda5 and Mazda CX30 Jaecoo J7 7 Feb 2025 (Forum)
First, went to Mazda.. CX30 Seating too low and not as nice (comfortable) as the Korando, didn't test drive. Bit later Omoda 5.. head touching the roof even on lowest setting in showroom model. Car with no sunroof marginally better but had to have seat at lowest and quite a lot reclined, Driving position weird if i sat so that my head didn't touch roof, seat bolsters holding tight, but cabin felt cramped with that godawful high centre console with the slanted phone holder tray covered in something felty? -
Skoda Fabia - Is there known issue for VAG 1.0TSI ? 14 Nov 2024 (Forum)
We are looking to replace our 10 year old Citroen C4 Picasso. The car has been running okay but need to downsize so that our son can drive when he passes his driving test in next few month. We quite like Skoda Fabia Hatchback and our budget is around 10k which will enable us to get one post 17/67 reg. We tested 1.0TSI(95PS), I must say it was more than adequate for our usage. -
