Citroen C4 BlueHDi100 - Potential power steering fault 14 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I have recently bought a C4 BlueHDI100 new from a Citroen dealer simply because it was well equipped, comfortable and had exceedingly cheap finance after all the discounts (what can I say, cheapskate). After having a Peugeot, Citroen and Renault before I've never really had problems. The car has covered 2200 miles in about 1.5 months from new. I have noticed in my last trip to the midlands, the steering feeling abnormally heavy. -
Which of these cheap 90s cars as my first car? 3 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I've gained an interest in the following cars: Renault Clio (1991) Nissan Micra (1993) Nissan Micra (1998) Fiat Cinquecento Toyota Starlet (1996) Vauxhall Corsa (1993) Citroen Saxo/Peugeot 106 (1996) VW Polo/Seat Ibiza (1994) I seem to really like the Clio but the problem is all the ads I've seen for it was the 1.4L model, and I'm looking for a smaller engine that is cheaper to run. -

Toyota Corolla 1.3 1998 - Whistling when at high RPM 18 Apr 2016 (Forum)
There are a few body work issues (which is all to be expected for an 18 year old car), and it drives much much better than the Peugeot 3008 I'm currently driving and has only done 98,000 and she has had it since 10,000. It's always been serviced and passed MOT's etc. It's hard not to like the car. As I drove it yesterday, liking how it handled and that the gear changes were sweet, I took it up a dual carriageway near my house. -
Most Economical Petrol car over 2000cc? 3 Mar 2013 (Forum)
(so a full size spare would be a real plus) Apart from the Mercedes A200 turbo, not many cars have just over 2000cc. What's a good'un?? I've had lots of Alfas, vauxhalls, fords, Peugeot, Ford, Citroen, Fiat, and am impressed by Japanese motors at the mo. I currently have a 2000 BMW 530d Touring E39, with 140k on it, a 3.0l Subaru Legacy Spec B 2005 Estate which the wife uses for the baby and get a bad 23-28mpg so can't use for that mileage, and an 2005 LPG Suzuki Ignis Sport 1.5 with 70,000 on it but it's too noisy and firm for occasional 400 mile round trips, frequent 200 miles/day.. -
Buying a first car - diabetic/insurance 31 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I was taught to drive in a 2000's Vauxhall Corsa, and then my instructor changed to a new Peugeot 207. I need something cheap to service, and cheap to run and insure. The initial purchase price of the car isn't that important as long as I get the right car. Does anybody have any ideas? -
Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 01 1.9 dti - possible change of engine 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
SECOND QUESTION - if I fancied something completely different, would a larger diesel engine (example the Peugeot 2.2 hDi engine) be possible to fit? I'm aware that there would be a high degree of rewiring needed and doubtless other issues too - I guess my question is whether it would physically fit? Or should I just get rid of my Scenic and buy something else (MPV recommendations gratefully received - preferably a diesel that isn't too sluggish, and that doesn't have a centrally mounted speedometer). -
Insurance for overseas visitors 29 Jan 2008 (Forum)
My B & SiL are visiting later this year from Australia, doing a round the world trip and spending some time in various locations, including 2 or 3 months in the UK. We have a "spare" car in the family, my mother's old L reg Peugeot 106 diesel - ancient but very sound - and thought it might be a nice idea to lend it to them. I am having great trouble in arranging short term insurance. The vehicle is not normally insured, it is just borrowed by family members whenever they need a car and swapped to their regular insurance, hence it is not possible to include BiL as a named driver. -
not another out of company car Q :o) 6 Dec 2007 (Forum)
RFL is 200 a year thats £16 a month, so say £60 a month for them two. so got £300 a month, thats about £6000 finance over two years. so the only choices to me are (and company stipulate it has to be under 4 years old and 60K miles or less) peugeot 407 saloon/hatch/estate hdi -£7K honda accord 2.2 cdti. -£6500 would love bmw 330d - 4 door m sport - but £12K ! MB 53 plate C200 - £8K (but 100K miles)(I know a man and a computer tho!) really would like a barge type of car but good torque when i need it. not going to make much out of fuel at 17p per mile, with diesel going toward 105p a litre! -

306 lower wishbone bushes 3 Apr 2007 (Forum)
A penny to a pound the fabled inner rear bush on the front lower wishbone has worn. If it is a wishbone bush, I know that Peugeot only sell a complete assembly of lower wishbone and bushes but motor factors sell the bushes separately. If I purchase the latter, is it an easy job to press the old bushes out and the new ones in, please? -
New car advice? 4 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Toyota Avensis 2.2D (180) with all the standard bits. Had a Toyota Camry before and was very happy with it, (very reliable). 4. Peugeot 407SW 2.2D (170) sport with all the standard bits. Worried about the reliability of this vehicle but it does look good. 5. Saab Linear Sport 1.9TDI (150) with all the standard bits. Worried about the reliability of this vehicle but it does have some image that the others lack. 6. -
Dealer Leg Lift? 25 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Off he went and came back with a hand written list of about 8 vehicles with differing mileages and shades of blue. I made a choice and test drove a similar vehicle. My own 99 Peugeot 406 Exec Est 75K was inspected for a trade-in. The hand written list indicated a price of £9995 for my chosen vehicle. The dealer offered me a straight £2000 for my trade-in which I thought was reasonable. -
You couln't make it up ... 15 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Walking through the pub car park on my way home from the shop yesterday afternoon, I saw a largish chap leave the pub, unlock his Peugeot 306 and open the driver's door. Nothing unusual in that, you may think, but bear with me. The door opened so that it was a whisker above the wall of a small ornamental flower bed. The chap climbed in and tried to shut his door but his weight, having sunk the car suspension, held the door firmly open against the top of the wall. -

Some help with a tight situation 17 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Due their circumstances (mainly centring around health) the household is on a low income, so what they can afford is very little - less than £1500, probably. My brother-in-law said he'd heard of seven-seat Peugeot 405 estates, but I shudder to think of the potential reliability problems with that car - they have enough on their plate without having to constantly worry about breakdowns, repairs, etc. Because of the family's specific needs, I'm having trouble thinking of a car with at least six seats that will be affordable to them, reasonably reliable, and cheap to repair in the event that this becomes necessary. -
Xantia TD starting 22 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Then recently, I've been having problems all over again. I returned it to the garage I bought it from (Peugeot main dealer) and they diagnosed a broken connection to one of the glowplugs, which they repaired free of charge for me. Again, all was well, but this morning I came to firing it up... and it wouldn't! -
306 HDi - Smoke normal ?? 17 Oct 2003 (Forum)
When I drove away from my parents house today my dad noticed blue smoke from the exhaust as I pulled away - When I got home I let the car cool down, started it up again with girlfriend obligingly standing behind and she said she saw no blue smoke from the exhaust...The Oil level indicator in the car shows full to the brim, and the dipstick shows oil past the top level. Have the numpties at Peugeot simply over filled it with oil when they did the service (forgot to mention its a dealer bought car - they serviced, MOT'd and did the Cam Belt) ? I cant belive it is an oil burner at 75k, unless its last owner ragged the proverbials off it every time they drove it. -
Life flashed before my eyes! 17 Apr 2003 (Forum)
My speed was about 100Kmh, the opposite side traffic was doing about 30kmh. All of a sudden as I turned a slight bend in the road which was blinded by trees there was a Peugeot 205 heading straight for me, he was trying to overtake the two lorries on his side of the road, but he was doing this on a steep hill, on a bend and with no chance of nipping in behind one of the lorries as they were too close. -
Intermittent stalling / loss of power 27 Aug 2002 (Forum)
My 1998 Peugeot 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 has recently developed a intermittant loss of power, it only lasts for about half a second to a second but can happen at any speed and at any revs and is now occurring every few miles on average.
