  • Pug 406 1.9td P reg smoke 24 May 2005 (Forum)
Some smoke in morning at first start up. This smoke clears very quickly. I do have the odd day when it does not happen. The car has covered 161,000 miles, has 6000 mile oil and filter changes, and air and fuel filters are change before they are due. Other than this the car drives perfectly. The smoke smells like it is oil thats burning.
  • Nissan Primera Radiator damage 7 Nov 2004 (Forum)
A friend with a 3 week old Primera found it losing coolant in a big way from the radiator. They are not car literate and were initially fobbed off by dealer with the line of, "stone damage, not covered by warranty....... happens regularly!" Well if it happens regularly it can only be a design fault, therefore should they go after dealer on 'fit for purpose'?
  • Seat Ibiza vs Nissan Almera 15 Sep 2004 (Forum)
The former is wonderfully reliable, but expensive to insure for us (25 and 22), the latter is a bag of nails and we've had more problems than I care to list, but it's going after just over a year in our possession. So, we're downsizing to one car between the two of us and the above two pretty much cover what we want. Can anyone suggest any others to consider? Anything I should be wary of? What would you choose? TIA
  • Fiesta automatic choke problems 4 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The car runs fine and starts normally when the engine is hot. Does anyone know a low cost solution to this? The fuse trick is not only embarresing but is also giving me a very sore arm! I also had a bit of a wheel arch damaging incident a while ago and am looking for wheel arch covers, does anyone know where i could get any near london (or my mail order!)?
  • The Ugly Stick Strikes Again 4 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The 7 and 5 are hideous, the 3 Compact has the ugliest rear of any car on the road and the X5 looks more pimp-mobil by the week. Audi must be laughing all the way to the Deutsche Bank.
  • Accident repair 3 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I will cut to the chase as some of this was covered in a previous post. Rear drivers wing and passenger door was scraped on my Scenic. Put it through Esure's authorised repairer. Got it back a couple of weeks ago. I noticed on Saturday that although they seem to have feathered it well towards the front of the car ie.
  • Broken rear windscreen - A4 Avant 1 Dec 2003 (Forum)
PS The car is an A4 Avant and the doors generally need a good slam to shut. The exception is the boot which I let close under its own weight.
  • Stone the Crows! 27 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I went straight back to the car and wrapped some paper around the wipers to discourage the crow. When I returned to the car tonight to come home, I was pleased to see that they were still intact. Then, when driving off, I switched on the *rear* tailgate wiper and washer to clear some bird mess and wondered why this just produced an awful smear.
  • Vectra Warranty / Timing Belt Change 14 Feb 2003 (Forum)
"Would this invalidate the warranty should the cam belt go before it reaches 80k?". I don't think the garage knew it was under warranty so they didn't comment.(The car has always been covered, since I bought it new, by various kinds of Vauxhall or Hartwells warrantee.) Thanks, Richard
  • Old shape BMW 7 series 22 Jun 2002 (Forum)
I'm seriously considering getting a second hand 7 series on an S or T plate. I cover about 25k a year, including a couple of trips to Austria/Switzerland, and the idea of a car like this for under £15,000 appeals to me. Am I being a complete fool? If so, you'd better talk me out of it.
  • Driven Tonight 31 Mar 2002 (Forum)
For those who didn?t watch, it consisted of Jason switching off the electronic traction devices. He then drove each car like Steve McQueen on steroids through aircraft hangars, a covered passageway and out onto the airfield in the usual opposite locking , tyre smoking manner that prospective purchasers of this type of limousine will obviously demand.
  • Yesterday, all my troubles ... 30 Mar 2002 (Forum)
It had a green cover. Despite the title it had quite a bit of off-track coverage, e.g. it was a good source of adverts for veteran/vintage/ PVT cars. If I remember rightly, the editor was one Bill Boddy. He was an enormous fan of the Beetle (the real one not the current cash-in) and his enthusiasm must have been worth £thousands to VW.
  • BMW 3 Series - Car won’t go into Reverse!! Brand new clutch fitte 1 Mar 2025 (Forum)

  • Car return: Refund agreed but dealer says they have no money 5 Jun 2022 (Forum)
Hi all. I bought a car from what seemed to be a reputable uk dealer. It was a remote purchase, so covered by distance selling regulations. Basically I decided not to keep the car and we agreed for me to return it in exchange for a refund.
  • BMW 325 - Dealer not settling finance 17 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Can anyone help me? I part exchanged a car with outstanding finance on it, but the part-ex offer more than covered the outstanding finance. My finance company sent a copy of the settlement details to the dealer the deal was they pay the finance off.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 Knocking from nearside front - urgent? 29 Jul 2014 (Forum)
The problem is that I cannot be without my car until next week though I do not need to use it for any journeys over 10 miles. I've been meaning to replace the car with something newer for some time (laziness!) so I'm not looking to own the car for anything more than another 2 months or so.
  • Peugeot 3008 - Best way to extend warranty 12 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Each time the fault has been engine related, and has been repaired under warranty.  Not a great record for a nearly new car I know :-( The warranty expires in Feb 2013, a few months away, and we are considering selling it before then.  What is the best way to extend the warranty if we decide to keep it?  Whose independant warranties cover most issues, whose include roadside recovery?
  • When did Euro III become mandatory in the UK? 3 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I am looking for a car to buy for someone to export and register in Serbia. In order to register a car in Serbia, it must be Euro III compliant at least. The ultimate owner isn't bothered about it being RHD, as used cars are so much cheaper here, and also the Euro/Pound exchange rate has made it even more attractive.
  • Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - Interior build quality 27 Nov 2009 (Forum)
i got a jazz a 53 reg and bought it from the dealer 2 years ago, the car has done only 25k, today i noticed that the seat fabric driver seat, has split from the edge of the seat where the seams are held together, the car itself has been very reliable but am shocked that a car of low mileage have this problem with the seat fabric, going to the dealer see if they would sort it for me, i understand that if a car of high mileage or age the seat fabric would split but not of this age and mileage for my current vehicle.
