  • Used car prices 7 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Hi guys, my company is offering one of the families private cars for sale, so one owner, Peugeot 106 1.4 XRD 3 door, FSH, metallic green, 127000 miles, Jan 1994 on an L, 12 months MOT, no tax. How much is it worth? What will it do to the gallon? Any major issues with these cars, I know nothing about Pugs except they have a wheel at each corner?
  • Crossover technologies 1 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Most European car manufacturers started out making bicycles, and learned a lot about manufacturing, metallurgy and frame design from those days. Only Peugeot still does so on a large scale, but I got to wondering whether there is much crossover between car/motorbike and bicycle technologies. For example, bicycles use cassette-type fit and forget sealed wheel bearings now, but is anything going the other way?

  • Second hand car choice - first time buyer. 10 Dec 2009 (Forum)
    I'm not too fussed diesel or petrol. Here's what I've found: Golf 1.6 S FSI 52,000m 3dr £4,500 and a 5 dr for £5,250 Peugeot 207 Hatchback, 1.4 HDi S 5d 2007/07 £4,700 - now I think this one is a very good price although the ad doesn't give the mileage. I know it's not a very powerful car but it boasts 62mpg. Peugeot 307 1.6 S 5dr Auto -- 2006 '56' 30,000m £4,780 Vauxhall Astra Hatchback, 1.6 Club 5d 18,000 2004/54 £3,995 Renault Clio Hatchback, 1.4 16V Privilege 5d 46,483 2006/56 £4,848 Ford Focus Hatchback, 1.8 TDCi Edge 3d 2005 £3,989 Citroën C4 Hatchback, 1.6i 16V Cool 5d 15,513 2006/56 £4,995 Vauxhall Astra Hatchback, 1.6 SXi 5d 2004/04 54,824 £3,741 At the moment I'm in Guildford and I don't have transport so I'm basically stuck with doing internet based research right now - once I've narrowed it down a bit I'll find a dealership where I can maybe test drive some of the cars.

  • New wheels for NoWheels 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I have ruled out a Vauxhall Astra (good value, but the ride is horrible), anything FIAT (reliability), Seat Leon (looks nice, but pricey), VW Golf (price), Peugeot 307 (reliability) and a Mazda 323 (steering too light, I found a 1992 model deeply scary to drive). My first question is about the Xsara. It looks tempting, but I have doubts abt the reliability of Peugeot/Citroen petrol engines: I have been told that they do good diesels, but not-so-good petrol engines.
  • Buying Hawkeye's new car 3 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Reactions from dealers of other makes ranged from incredulity that I should be so difficult to deal with as to have 2 vehicles to part-ex, to complete indifference. So Fiat, Kia, Hyundai and Fiat ruled themselves out on the phone. This left Ford and Peugeot. The C8 seemed to offer more kit for your pound than Peugeot so they dropped down the list. I even got as far as a test drive in a new Galaxy but I didn't feel at home in it; the driving position didn't suit me, I would have preferred rear sliding doors and the part-ex offer on the Synergie was so poor it was almost an insult.
  • n/a - PSA - Fiat - Chrysler link up. 23 Dec 2019 (Forum)
As announced in October, Carlos Tavares, 61, chairman of the PSA board, takes operational management for five years of the new giant, which becomes the world's 4th largest manufacturer (8.7 million vehicles per year), behind Volkswagen, Toyota , and especially the Renault-Nissan alliance, which he left in 2013, in the middle of a showdown with Carlos Ghosn. He finds himself at the head of a portfolio of 14 brands: the five of the PSA group (Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel Vauxhall) to which must be added Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM. A conglomerate that represents 170 billion euros in cumulative turnover and 400,000 employees.
  • Kia C'eed - A reliable long distance commuter car? 23 Mar 2019 (Forum)
After our last car, a Peugeot, broke down (cam belt) we are looking to get a reliable car within a tight budget around the £8,000-9,000 mark. My partner does a round trip commute of 100 miles a day (on A roads) 5 days a week.
  • Preheating car on chilly morns 2 Jan 2018 (Forum)
https://ibb.co/b0YL5G Must admit it makes a huge difference, the car is goes from 0C to 25C, in 20 mins and stays toastie until the car's own air heater warms up to take over...abouyt 10 mins I may put an outside mains supply, on the wall IP66 and use a caravan type electric socket fitted into the  car's bumper ...just to confuse the neighbours into thinking I have a hybrid peugeot 1.1 1997 model :)  https://www.toolstation.com/shop/Electrical/d190/IP66+Rated/sd3138/IP66+2+Gang+Socket/p78539 http://www.germaninnovation.org/shared/content/news/large/D98918DD-2977-E411-9B90-000C29E5517F.jpg Stay warm out there  Liam
  • BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics - BMW 116d EfficiencyDynamics fuel consumption? 4 Oct 2016 (Forum)
For many a long year I have owned diesel engined cars and I have always managed to achieve quite exceptional brim to brim fuel consumption figures, for instance my last car was a Peugeot 307SW 1.6 HDi and I was regularly getting a corrected 60+ mpg. Having read the claimed fuel consumption figures for the BMW I was expecting to get well into the mid 70's mpg. so you can only imagin my dissapointment in only achieving figures in the mid to high 40's, despite driving as feather footed as I know how to.

  • Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.9D DW8 - Cold start stuck? 8 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I found the following post on another website: I am currently running a Peugeot Partner 1.9D (DW8 engine) for work, on 100% diesel, it has never seen anything other than pump diesel.... However, it has developed a fault whereby it will ALWAYS idle at around 1100rpm, regardless of running temperature.
  • Citroen C5 Tourer - Upgrade to xenon lights? 6 Nov 2012 (Forum)
most of my friends and acquaintances laughed like drains when I said I was getting a C5, but I think the laugh is on them, particularly with the 3.0 HDi engine (I think from Peugeot, and the same engine that Jaguar use).  It is quiet, refined, powerful, and seems to match in every respect the few BMW 5-series cars I've been out in - and I think the Tourer is a cracking looker too.)

  • Esure car insurance 8 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I've been with the Co-op for a few years and they've always been really competitive and I think the customer service is great. I have recently bought much newer car (1 year old Peugeot 3008) and initially I swapped the existing policy to the new car. Renewal is now due and coming in at £763. I found out I could save about £150 if I cancel policy and take out another through the Co-op website (which I think is pretty shoddy) but I also put my details into Confused.com and Esure came out at £400.
  • Jaguar X-Type 2004 2.0D classic (53 reg) - part service history - stay away? 12 Jul 2010 (Forum)
It needed to be large enough for our little'un as well so I started looking at saloon range cars, Audi A4, Peugeot 407 etc.  So I came across a Jag X Type which fits the bill and I have always always wanted a Jag. My concern is that the ad states "Part Service History", and when quizzed on the phone the trader said that it was stamped at 9000 and 26000.
  • Mazda Mazda 3 (2004 - 2009) - 05 1.6 Road noise 1 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I describe it as making "knocky-knocky" sounds if that means anything to you. Compared with my 9 year old Peugeot 406 it seems very noisy to me anyway on both counts. Anyone know where I can get a soundproofing kit for it? A mechanic has told me that Mazda have made the rubber bushes in the supension too hard - which is probably why the car handles so well otherwise!
  • Pug 307 bearing change causes ABS fault 18 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Hi Guys, The other day i decided to tackle the rumbling wheel bearing on my wifes Peugeot 307. All went relatively painlessly until i had finally re-assembled everything ,went for a test drive and i thought great no more rummbling. A few yards down the road and the ABS light came on and the digital read out came up with ABS fault and when i breaked it was juddering as if the abs was working when it was normal conditions, this now occurs frequently and the light stays on but not juddering all the time.
