Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.25 replacing drop links 7 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Therefore do not fit. Searched online for thin spanners and found nothing. Other than machining an old spanner (which I cannot do), as anyone managed to undo these drop links and with what? Thanks! S. -
Mondeo TDCi Starting Problems 1 Jun 2009 (Forum)
It makes no difference if the engine has been used for a short /long run nor if the engine is warm /cold. Can any of you clever people suggest a cause and a solution? (The car otherwise is very impressive and at 50+ mpg average over the last 7000 miles I have no other complaints.) -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 05 2.0 Engine temperature gauge 28 Feb 2009 (Forum)
The temperature gauge needle on my father's Accord stays some way off the middle even when it's fully warmed up. He seems to think that it's no big deal because the car runs fine and the manual says only that it should rise to "about the middle of the gauge". I'm not so sure. I remember that my mother's old BMW did the same thing when it had problems with the cylinder linings. -
Citroen Xsara (1997 - 2004) - Flooded (d'oh!) 10 Feb 2009 (Forum)
My sister drove her Xsara (aka my old car) into 3 feet of flood water today. Engine running at tick over, sucked water in and now non-runner. RAC towed it out and it tries to crank a bit but won't turn over. Clearly water in one or more cylinders. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 Cold weather starting 13 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Now I feel paranoid that they left the 10W/40 oil in the engine and this is what is causing the starting trouble. The battery is about 3 years old and is a heavy duty one. Do you think the car is just suffering from normal winter starting trouble or do you think it is to do with the oil. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 05 d5 Vibration 1 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hi,hope you can help, i've had my car for about 7 months and its always run very smooth, i recently had a new top engine/ torque bush fitted because the old one was splitting and since then i get a bad vibration at 60-70 mph. I've balanced all the wheels, there is no vibes through the steering wheel but there is through the floor and bulkhead, it feels like a drive shaft out of balance, but seems too much of a coincidence that a shaft would go when i had a bush fitted.... help its driving me mad, thanks. -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 2007 1.6TDi CMAX 27k miles. Buying advice please 25 Nov 2008 (Forum)
We ideally want a nearly new TDI and a 1.6 because of the good fuel economy - but they are not cheap. We have found a good deal on a 12 month old car, but its done 27k miles. I would welcome peoples views on whether I should worry about the high mileage and what things to look out for - any common faults? Thanks in advance CC -

Audi - Wanted: Audi A4 Avant under 9k 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Hi I'm looking to get and Audi A4 avant diesel with less than 50k on the clock for less than 9k. I want it to be under 5years old and would absolutly love a new shape one. I have been scouring ebay and autotrader for the last couple of week and the fewI have seen are gone almost straight away or have turned out to be dogs. Is it possible to get this car for the money I have? -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - Fiesta tyres 6 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I recently bought a 3 year old Fiesta Zetec TDci with 24k miles from my local Ford dealer in West London, then I went on a 3k mile European holiday. I felt that the handling was a bit "strange" on the wet, so I decided to take a close look at the tyres once I was back. -
Renault Clio III (2005 - 2009) - 2005 auto - Service intervals and warranty 31 Aug 2008 (Forum)
We just bought a car from the main dealer, it is nearly 3 years old. We are planning to extend the warranty in a few months when the manufactures' one runs out. We were told that they had done all the services etc. When we got the documentation we noticed that the service interval is every 12m/18k but the first service wasn't carried out for another 6 months 18m/15k. -
Honda Accord UK (1989 - 1993) - Umph. Genuine 2-hand bargain. 29 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I bet it's not as economical. Can't find MPG figures, though. Reasonable buy, or not? There seem to be many newer cars for similar money... -
Teenage provisional driver moped & parking tickets 27 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Yes you may all laugh..I did to until I realised my beloved had landed himself a £60.00 fine payable in 2 weeks!! I know the law on parking on a private car park is different but can a ticket be enforced on a 16year old driving on a provisional licence with no bank account or income as he will be returning to school in September? As his parent I know who will cover the initial outlay but feel it is unjust that I have to cover fines when I have no real impact on his parking. -
Tyres- small bulge in tyre wall 7 Jul 2008 (Forum)
She think she may have nudged the curb when parking recently- I know she wouldn't have hit it hard as she doesn't drive that fast! With it being such a small bulge is it worth replacing the tyre? The tyre is about 3 months old and done about 1200 miles. Thanks all. -
PC simulator for fun / helping learn 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I have a wheel and pedals (G25 with 3 pedals, so have clutch as I am an avid Grand Prix Legends, GT Legends and Race07 fan with many hours of enjoyable on online racing behind me. I realise this will never be the same this as a real car or the expensive sims they might use at some of the schools but I might be fun and help my 12 / 14 year olds who are keen. There is one on Amazon but I have no idea if it is any good... Any one tried any? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1997 1.3 Loose breather pipe and running on 3 cyl 24 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I haver a strange problem with my car sometimes after filling it up with oil it runs very rough on idle but on all four cylinders but after a few minutes the revs drop down to 600 and then it appears to run on 3 cylinders as the engine shakes vionetly. -
"Breathable" cover - made of PVC ? 9 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Ordered a car cover for my Celica off the web - It was advertised as "Waterproof and Breathable". The cover that has arrived is made of heavyweight (non-woven) PVC lined with a soft cotton down inner - abit like the material that an old PVC "sweaty" mac would have been made of years ago. -
Subaru Forester II (2002 - ) - 2.0ltr 2002 Cam Belt Change 15 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Recently bought a nearly six year old Forester auto (non turbo) with only 6,600 miles on the clock. The car has been serviced by Subaru every year (having covered around 1,000 miles / year) Now, looking at the service book, the cam belt should be done at five years or 60K miles. -
Ford Fiesta (1989 - 1995) - 1992 1.8 diesel - Rear brake leaking. 27 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I suppose I could have a faulty cylinder. Are there any other reasons for this? Mileage of car 80000 miles. {year/engine added to subject header - 3 requests to do so overlooked!} -
Rover 75 (1999 - 2005) - To Change Or............. 28 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Have been given the opportunity to buy a 2002 Rover 75 CDT Club, it does have 120k on the clock but I know it's history from new and it has never missed a beat (not that that counts for anything!!) The price being asked is a fair bit below similar cars on Autotrader and I am using it at the moment to see if I like it. Now, do I get rid of my 10 year old but very reliable Honda Aerodeck and take the plunge or do I just stick to what I have got? Anyone who has run one of these over 120k I would welcome comments from.
